  1. Finally a good explanation of this issue! I love Pyromancer for being a realist in his vids! He said in one of his 1st FFXIV vids that he knew he could get banned for using 3rd party tools! I took Pyro's lashing out to be at the people not the banning itself! But that is my take on it! Pyro does love the FFXIV community, he just does not like people who bait him into reacting angrily! They just kept on pushing him till he exploded! I am the same way, I will give you one warning then gloves come off! To quote my favorite line in a tv show ever – "Mr. McGee, don't make me angry, You wouldn't like me when I'm angry!"

  2. The only thing I'd like to point out is that, in regards to the clip of the person being brought to the GM prison, it wasn't ONLY because of ACT and the potential harassment from it.
    The streamer had, besides ACT:
    – Death recap, next to the minimap at top right of the screen.
    – Party list buff/debuff timers, you can see the small numbers under some of them which shouldn't be there.
    – I'm not sure the minimap is supposed to be that minimalistic so this I'm not certain.
    – On top of the block of hotbars next to the ACT box, that timer type number, while it might be something added simply via OBS, which would be fine if it was, it doesn't seem to be as it's gone when brought to GM jail and the hotbar box is gone.
    – I don't know what that Peeping Tom thing is you can see on the top of the screen, next to where death recap thing was, when they're in GM jail but it might also be something about addon or plugin, can't confirm.

Some people have mentioned there being automatic audio callouts for mechanics but didn't hear or discerned that in the clip.

Conclusion, it wasn't JUST because of ACT possible harassment. People are trying really hard to spin the tale to their advantage even when they've proven they're the only ones to blame. This person simply far-crossed the line of the "don't get caught". I'd honestly go so far as to say, if they had had ONLY ACT, they may not have been pulled at all, only a glance over and go somewhere else. But they showed multiple of them, actually visible, in public.

The thing with Discord though it's the funniest thing I ever heard about. It's like saying that actually having the team communicate in or outside the game to clear mechanics is a TOS offense.

  3. See this is the problem certain people abusing tools that can help you rather than hinder you. This stuff here is why we cant have nice things. I like modding to make the game more vibrant but because of idiots who are streaming mods and cheats(why even) you ruin it for all of us who are legit wanting to make the game more vibrant and fun for the lighting and camera what not.

  4. I had a sprout recently ask if there was a parsing tool.
I said "There is a third party that you aren't supposed to use. I ain't telling you what it is or how to use it. I am just letting you know."

    It's that easy.
Why is everyone making such a fuss?
Why can't you understand what Biz Dev 3 has been saying since 2014 (and possibly earlier)?
Stop wasting their time, money, and manpower on such issues, when those resources can be spent elsewhere.

  5. I'm not blaming people from WoW, but also can't ignore that Pyro is use to using addons because he comes from WoW. I think Bellular may have a whole video about how he needs to use GShade to make the game playable which is dumb. That said, I think they may not realize (or remember) that even Blizz has banned certain addons if they feel they go too far. I remember in Legion an addon telling you which way to run and what to stand on for a certain dungeon fight. On the next release of the addon it was no longer doing that and it's because Blizz said it would be "banned" and anyone using it could get in trouble. The addon developer removed that function rather than no longer make the addon. I also find there are a lot of people in WoW who love using ELVUI or anything to make it more personal. If WoW or FF released an official add-on UI mod that had all of the options they chose in it? I think they would then change their UI still to be "unique".

I think people from WoW are quick to point to former WoW players for a reason – we are from WoW and we understand that most people from WoW are just accustomed to addons. Even some of my guildies who came to FF from WoW felt the need to install something to tell them what their rotation should be as well as other addons. They left partially because there was no rating systems for players and partially because others in our guild wouldn't come to FF – so not because of add-ons or 3rd party tools.

  6. Yoshida or whoever is in charge of this decision, needs to realize their rules are outdated. People have made tools like Simple Tweaks, Death Recap, etc that aren't cheats, but quality of life upgrades that should be in the game already. Cactbot and ACT triggers are whatever, not for me usually, but they don't impact anyone else's play. Maybe back in 2014 this was fine, but compared to other games XIV is outdated in many respects. The fact that people have to use stuff like noclippy and Alexander in order to have the same party experience as other people is ridiculous. Neither one of those are capable of speedhacks without intentionally modifying their configs. No one said Bagel got banned for a discord overlay WTF

  7. The actual entitlement of streamers not taking the most basic precautions to protect themselves (everyone knows ACT can be used 100% effectively without game overlays) but then trying to rally their viewers to be dishonest on their behalf.

  8. Thanks for making this video Chris, it seems like you understand the idea of discretion and how it applies here. By the word of the law Add-ons are always against the ToS, but the discretion of enforcement from SE over the years has made it crystal clear what is and isn't allowed. The game does not have anti-cheat, so don't be public with add-ons they don't like and you will never get banned. As you stated, this has been the case since day 1.

  9. You are absolutelly correct. Yoshi-P did warn them, but they did nothing with way they stream and now they are surprised people are getting banned.
And Pyro is idiot. I hope people will unsub him for way he treat his viewers. Banning people just because they have different opinion and using offensive language is enough for Twitch to suspend his channel. And i wouldnt be surprised…

  10. Xiv simply doesn't want high end raiding to be the focus. They want casual and single player content to be the focus as that is what will draw more players that will keep going.

  11. IDK, I guess I think of it the way I think of 'No Outside Food Or Drink' policies at movie theatres. Most places, you bring some snacks or a bottle of water in your bag, ain't nobody gonna say shit. But walk up to the ticket counter with a fuckin large pizza, all the while loudly telling everyone in front of the ticket window 'HEY GUYS DID YOU KNOW YOU CAN BRING FOOD IN? YEAH IT'S AGAINST THE RULES BUT THEY DON'T ENFORCE IT", somebody sort of has to give a shit at some point.

  12. The cop ignores the guy going 66mph on a 65mph limit freeway when no one's around, but the guy who does 110mph in front of a school as the kids are getting out and flips a cop off as he does it…

  13. This is the best summary I've seen. I appreciate you tracking the history/overall context.

One thing: there's a good chance Bagel wasn't banned for ACT but for reason #2: "Modification of the UI to display additional information." It can be easy to miss, but he was using a mod that displays buff/debuff timers on the party list along with some other UI mods. That extra UI information has been a common thread in the bans.

  14. Hey, Chris! Honestly this is an excellent video! Yoshi P and the crew have always said, we CAN'T see what you have on your machine, so don't give yourself away. And what do these morons do? Give themselves away!

Do you mind if I share this on the FF14 page I'm on in Facebook? Maybe the truth will spread better….

  15. It's pretty interesting how the vod was only cut down to make it look like pyro is the villain.. video creator definitely pushing an agenda and intentionally missing ALL THE CONTEXT of that stream.. seeming that more than 2/3 of that stream was chat literally coming out the woodwork to instigate and antagonize the whole entire time.

  16. i personally wish they'd quit dicking around and just ban everyone using third party addons. i get tired of being assulted because i'm not hitting some imaginary line everyone else can see. or because i'm not in the proper area because i don't have some stupid plugin.

  17. I love how, since time immemorial, whenever someone asked about a mod in the game someone would always reply with: "This is the mod, but just be careful, it's against ToS." And now that the devs are like, "It's against ToS," that's when people are making a stink about it. Such a low point for our community on this.

  18. Haven't played FF14 since Lost Ark came out. Looking at this drama from a bird's eye view when I am no longer in the thick of things is pretty funny and entertaining. No stress at all since I don't have much skin the game anymore lol.

  19. It wasn't specifically 'the changes' that Pyro was upset with. It was more of the community at large telling him that 'mods are against TOS, but no one ever gets banned for it'. The community made it seem that "Oh, this is fine. Don't worry about it." Except it wasn't. So there was a feeling of being mislead under his initial emotions. Pyro get didn't see all of these. If you weren't part of the community as it happens, it gets buried and lost.

  20. Some of the best words I heard in FFX was said when I was 10 years old : "Discretion is the better part of valor"

Most high end raiders use ACT and other tools at their disposal, usually raiding with a tight knit group is one of the only ways to keep yourself anonymous 100%, putting yourself on stream using ACT/Cactbot/FFXIVAlexander etc is a recipe for disaster and should be avoided at all costs, SE already said they watch streams, keep yourself safe and surround yourself with like minded individuals and don't interact with people while using these add-ons, if you're using something like xivalexander then disable it if you're not in a group session with friends because others who are in PF will easily identify with what is possible to do in the game normally, this I argue is venturing beyond the realm of cheating but that is my honest opinion, there are people who need to use it because their ping is 200+ so I don't fault them for it but for people who play at 100 ping like I do, there is no excuse, you can play the game at a decent level without it and only serves to put a marker on your back if you're seen triple weaving your ogcds.

  22. Seems pretty simple to understand. Don’t use third party tools.
FFXIV Player: “But I want to use them.”
Me: “Well I want a real dancing, talking, magical unicorn that I fly to work on.”
Too bad. We don’t always get what we want. Don’t act like 2 year old who screams and cries when they don’t get the ice cream they want.

  23. It's very simple they literally give you the context clues to follow. THEY CAN NOT SEE WHAT YOU HAVE ON YOUR PC , UNLESS YOU SHOW THEM!! , that simple stop trying to big dick them by showing your add-ons on stream. They do not want to be forced to use anti-cheat drm tools that are super intrusive. I also think some shenanigans went down with the world first groups , and that's what set them off. These devs are very chill. I know they probably have found cheaters on the new pvp also. Integrity matters.

  24. "don't show it on your freakin' stream". like, that's it. just stop showing it. i know plenty of people using these tools, and they post them in private discords or not at all. clearly they know about fflogs. they could EASILY go after everyone who has ever uploaded a log if they gave a genuine fuck about it. they don't. just keep it to your damn self.

  25. As much as I agree on not allowing mod that screw with server data and clear content,

UI and cosmetic fx mods are what give rp players and other niche casual groups to have creative activities.

Unless you want to get Preach ban for the fc stage live action play for using text bubble or night club on stream…..

I guess the game wont go far.

  26. Love this video. Ive been seeing some others covering this and… holymoly, did people never even bother to inform themselves? This isnt new, this isnt strange. Its old news and its always been there. If you want to use shaders, go ahead. Just dont overdo it and scream it from every rooftop. The same goes for raiders: if you insist on using act's, if you tell people about it, if you then discriminate others because of what this tool tells you..well, what a surprise, theres a ban. Whoever saw that coming? -.-

Also, I would really like to say this here, too: so many people have been crying about that there wasnt an Ultimate during Shadowbringers… and now it turns out the same raiders (granted, not all of them…) need addons to beat the fight! What is wrong with you guys?? o.o

  27. Me as PS5 player, switched from WHM to DNC and killed my first lvl 90 Extremes with 3k DPS. As I saw my numbers at FFlogs I checked the Top DNC player and could improve my DMG to 5k and later on to 6.5k DPS. Without FFlogs I would still play the DNC wrong.

  28. The whole thing about addons not being allowed has been general knowledge since before all the WoW refugees came over, it's far from sudden but because of the new Ultimate and everything surrounding it they're really cracking down on it extra hard for the first time.

  29. People made the mental gymnastic maneuvers to turn "don't talk about fight club" into "stream it in front of thousands of people" and now it's the dev's fault that they get what they asked for? I can't help but think of Ezell the crackhead from Friday. "HEY, SMOKEY'S BACK HERE TAKIN A SH*T!! I ain't gonna tell nobody else though."

  30. I'll continue to use my 3rd party stuff. Why? Because I'm not streaming, they can't do anything about it. If I wanted to make a Miqote's tits the size of Thal's Balls then I can. I won't, but point being that I can and they can't know.

With that said: SE have been disgusting in this handling of the matter. They either: Do screen all players and ban people for offenses, or they don't. Now, plenty of streamers have been playing for years with ACT and audio triggers running without any consequences. Pretending this is just a "TOS violation issue" is stupid. Anyone who says that this is just about the TOS is a fool. It's been happening for a long time with zero consequences and it's worked just fine.

SE needs a SOLID stance on what IS and ISN'T acceptable. If zero – none – nothing – nada – mods are acceptable then them's the rules. However, SE need to be proactive and provide for the people that mod for the sake of accessibility. That could be colourblind options, it could be larger number displays, it could be party buff/debuff timers, it could be ANYTHING.

SE need to either try harder or let modders continue, because there are very, VERY few people using game-breaking mods in this game.

That one that was posted on reddit showing the meteor zones for Thordan in DSR? I've never heard of it, and I've been using mods extensively for 5+ years.

Everyone needs to get a grip and stop getting upset about mods that don't affect them.
