[FFXIV 7.1 BLM] Paradox Transpose-Only, 100% Instant Cast Rotation

*Note:* _It is not displayed in this concept video, but using Fire Paradox immediately after Transpose and before Fire III will provide the Fire III a slight potency boost; and is recommended for optimizing this rotation. A video displaying the optimized rotation can be found below._

An entertaining 7.1 Paradox rotation using the new Instant Cast Despair and Transpose-only. 100% Instant Casts aside from the Pre-pull Fire III. No cast bars means BLM is now the most mobile caster in the game while using this rotation; and now has even more movement opportunities than a Summoner or even a Samurai.

Please note that this clip was posted more to display the concept than pure optimization. I have since improved the rotation and encourage others to try it out and find ways to optimize it further.

How it works:
The key parts of this rotation that keeps the loop going is alternating between Swiftcast and Triplecast when going into Ice phase. They are used solely for Blizzard III to gain an MP tick (and Blizzard IV during Triplecast as a filler). When used in Ice Phase, Blizzard III gives back MP in a manner similar to Blizzard IV, but will not give you maximum MP. Fortunately, you do not need to get back to 10,000 MP. 2400 is sufficient to cast Paradox and Despair.

The Swiftcast and Triplecast reps in the video are as follows:

Swiftcast Rep:
_[Fire III], Fire Paradox, Despair, Swiftcast, Transpose into Ice, Blizzard III, Ice Paradox, Thunder/Xenoglossy, Transpose into Fire, [Fire III], Repeat_

Triplecast Rep:
_[Fire III], Fire Paradox, Despair, Transpose into Ice, Ice Paradox, Triplecast, Blizzard III, Blizzard IV, Transpose into Fire, [Fire III], Fire Paradox, Despair, Transpose into Ice, Blizzard III, Repeat_

As the rotation continues, Swiftcast may become available before it is needed. To prevent drifting, it is recommended to use the Swiftcast a few GCDs before going into the Ice phase. Activiting Swiftcast as soon as possible allows for it to return sooner and keeps the rotation being self-sufficent for longer periods of time.

During each Triplecast usage, you want to get into Ice phase _twice_ and use charges on two different Blizzard III casts. To do this, using Ice Paradox first reduces the amount of GCDs you have to press during the Triplecast window. It is ideal to use Blizzard IV as a filler during the Triplecast if there is time. However, you want to _always_ get in two Blizzard III or else you won’t regain resources quick enough to sustain the rotation. The filler Blizzard IV is used to help alignment and give more actions before Swiftcast returns, but I’ve done a few variations delaying the second Ley Lines cast where I was only about to get off the two Blizzard III casts and it didn’t cause the rotation to fall apart.

The reason the rotation works is because Fire Paradox guarantees the next Fire III is an instant cast— denoted as [Fire III]. In the video, this proc is used after Transposing back into Fire Phase to return to Astral Fire III. However, you can use Fire Paradox after Transpose and then use your Fire III so it gains the potency from Astral Fire II. Despair will always gain Astral Fire III modifier regardless of the order of those two actions, so it is recommended to use Fire Paradox first for the slight potency gain.

Lastly, Xenoglossy is used as a filler action and should only be used in this rotation when Swiftcast is on cooldown.

This is not meant to be a replacement for standard rotation, but has some silly applications and considerably high damage for a rotation that gives you 100% freedom of movement.

This was done without maxed gear. il725

  1. What item level is your black mage at here?
And how many tries did it take you to put together a rotation that clears the training dummy?

Regardless, I find it very impressive that this not only works, but works to a degree that you can clear the current savage tier training dummy with it.

  2. Edit:
    Optimized Version of Rotation:

There are a number of small adjustments I recommend if committing to this rotation and not swapping between this and standard rotation mid-fight.

One recommendation is using Fire Paradox before your Fire III proc, as it will give your Fire III proc slightly more damage and does not impact the rotation in any negative way. This is a potency gain if you are investing in this rotation fully. However, if you intend to swap to this rotation from the standard rotation mid encounter (or vice-versa), its important to keep in mind that this removes the ability to use a Fire III proc at the start of the next Fire Phase when realigning to the standardized rotation. You can always realign by simply skipping the Transpose and going back into the Fire Phase from the Ice Phase with a fast cast Fire III. It's recommended to do this if you intend to stay on the rotation for numerous reps to get the most out of the rotation.

The reason swapping the position of the Fire Paradox and Fire III works for this rotation is because Fire Paradox does not gain additional value from being Astral Fire. Using Fire Paradox after Transpose and bumping yourself to Astral Fire II will provide a small potency buff to the Fire III cast, however. Despair will be gaining the Astral Fire III damage modifier regardless, so buffing the output of your Fire III is ideal.

Thank you to Zanbatoss for reminding me of this.

  3. I think you might be able to use a Fire 4 as a filler for Triplecast too. You'd transpose into ice after Despair, Paradox (+2500 MP, weave triplecast), Blizzard 3 (+5000 MP, weave transpose), Paradox, Fire 3 Proc, Fire 4, Despair (weave transpose), Blizzard 3. With Triplecast's 15s duration, should be able to fit the 5 GCD and start that last instacast Blizzard 3 before it runs out, squeezes out an extra 256 potency before maim and mend+Enochian!
