I'm not about doing the whole mental gymnastics again, if youve come to criticise answer these 2 questions first
If YOU dont like it, Why should it change for the majority?
If im disrespectful for this take why is it perfectly respectable for you to call current healing brain dead?
Let me preface this by saying that, while I’m a main healer, I wasn’t part of the strike for the simple reason that I pretty much only do high end content and none of the issues people raised affected me.
That being said, as far as I understand it, the complaints were mainly about EW and how healing was indeed more boring and easy than in, say, ARR. There’s a problem when expert dungeons are easier to heal than lvl 20/30 content. As for “no single role is strictly needed for dungeons – sure, but doing a 4 man with 3dps/1t is easier than standard comp bc it’s so much faster, where as doing 3dps/1h is slower and decidedly not easier.
Like I said – I don’t do normal content if I can absolutely avoid it so none of that affects me, but I do understand where those people are coming from. “Okay, so do high end content where healing is more engaging” – unfortunately high end content is locked behind the requirement of either committing to static hours every week, or spending hours waiting in partyfinder 🤷♀️
“Okay, but striking won’t help” – then what will? There have been threads for years talking about this. It’s true that the strike ended up not changing queue times, but it did get media attention I guess?
“This is dividing the community!” – it is because there’s a lack of solidarity and empathy for layering who bring up legitimate issues, not because players are bringing up issues. Like I said, none of this affects me, but it’s not hard for me to muster up the empathy to understand why others would be bothered.
In closure, I actually think the healing in DT has been a lot more fun than it was before (I did do normal content to get through msq obviously), but that’s probably in huge part due to the fact that barely anyone was synced down. I’m not sure if this was just natively going to happen, or if the years of feedback did something.
The local War bros havent even noticed the strike lol
I've been noticing some healers not doing anything in dungeons I play so I put my tank busters on them.
Healers who don't play anything harder than dungeons and trials should NOT be dictating the balance of classes. Thank god the devs seem to be smart enough to not listen to them.
Headcanon; Myth has shark teeth :3
Did that even happen outside of twitter? I only learned about it through a similar thread on reddit that didn't even get much attention. Felt like 10 people or so did that and then just continued as always, didn't see anyone mention it ingame, nor were there any queue problems
Edit: Oh wait, literally on release day daily queue I met one healer who came in naked- Like, without ANY equipment. They wrote in chat that they don't understand why they don't deal any damage. No one else reacted, I just wrote "lmao" because I thought it was kinda funny, what a silly goober. After the first mob group he equipped stuff again, but it was the Praetorium anyway. Not sure if he was just memeing
There is no healer strike
I am enjoying my quick healer queues 😀 Recently I also spotted a lot of healers have problems adjusting. as a DRK main lvling roulette is not only a dung roulette but also deal or no deal when it comes decent person to keep me from crying when my LD is on cooldown. ;-;
Agreed, it's dumb. Great, the 0.1% best players did a thing. Again.
"Healers are unnecessary!" people cry as a mentor in my roulette dies due to standing in orange. I barely had to learn anything about it to know it's dumb AF, and learning over time that the people propagating it are notorious for complaining, getting things changed, then complaining MORE just solidifies my beliefs in it being dumb AF. It's folk like that who truly make me stand by my statement of "The end user rarely knows what they actually want."
Also not to mention how the whole "strike" began after the Media Tour, so that expansion wasn't even out. It's very possible that they made it easier so that Joe Schmoe from IGN who has never played an MMO in his life is able to complete it. After getting into the expansion, while I'm only MSQ 93/94, content really feels like it needs Healers, unless you are just a partied group of trained professionals.
I'll start taking most of the Healers in the strike seriously when I see their Savage and Ultimate clears.
Hardest content they probably play is alliance raid roulette and leaving if Syrcus Tower doesn't pop.
You've read my thoughts on it already, but I will say this. TP was HORRIBLE and I'm glad its dead.
literally what healer strike
You are amazing, here is my sub.😊
I could understand this one with no subtitles. I’m getting stronger!
I would rather a rally for something more useful like improving PvP and actually having a hall of the novice for it.
I engage with it for exp but lord help me I cant understand it and feel like a big dumb idiot that cant combo kill anything.
Maybe put crystaline conflict into duty finder so im not brainrotting myself on Frontlines.
I also think the healer strike is stupid, however the one thing I would agree with is that dungeons should gradually get to a level of difficulty where healers will have an easier time by using their entire toolkit to gently teach them to use it not just for emergencies. I say this as having played whm through all levels of difficulty in the game and wanting to see other people get the satisfaction of feeling the accomplishment of twirling through the dungeon like a goddess giving life and erasing evil. In saying that, Dawntrail achieves this to some degree. It's a good start, I am interested in seeing how they continue this design.
Personally I played through the DT msq as whm, I queued duty finder, and I went into pf to help some poor dps with queues when it was full of people offering to sell their service as a healer to dps for gil 🤮. Healer strike is kinda stupid.
2/3 of those "ambassadors" were on "strike" since Shadowbringer. This little stunt reminds me of a young kid leaving a room screaming and slamming the door with all their strengh… to see them 5 secondes later discretely peek to see the effects of their tantrum.
Healer main here. I love being a healer in XIV; I feel the simplicity in dungeons makes it far more accessible for those who may be intimidated by responsibility roles. I have taught four (at least) people new to MMO's how to heal through dungeons just fine. If I crave a challenge as a healer, I do other content that tests my abilities. In the meantime, I spend my evenings running people through Dawntrail dungeons in exchange for crafting supplies so we can help each other level classes.
At the end of the day, XIV is a game and is only as fun as you let it be for you.
At least 20% of ffxiv players need mental help… just look at the full on re ta rd takes on the graphics Update…
The reason such people would dislike you is simple: when you tell the truth it dismantles the sort of fantasy they've been living under. Breaking someone's fantasy makes them angry, that's all. Angry people make up all sorts of dumb arguments about why they're right that are even more wrong all so they can hold onto their fantasy.
Omg THANK YOU honestly i feel like I’ve been going crazy with these idiots crying about the things THEY ASKED FOR. To add to your list the healers in stormblood were complaining about not having to heal enough and how people would bully them into using cleric stance and just dps so they made it so healers have to focus on healing more and they are STILL complaining. I swear there’s just no satisfying some people and the developers should stop trying.
I've been a white mage main for 9 years now for 8 years I didn't level other jobs. (unless you count the few points into thurmaturge and one other job I needed for my Whitemage <- That's how old I am) I've never had a problem with healing. Never thought things were ever too easy. While I miss Aero 3 and actually liked the original blood lily system – I've been through the good, the bad and the ugly and no amount of healerless ultimate cope is gonna change my opinions otherwise.
You can with solid effort do any content with any configuration of jobs if you so choose… but working together as a Trio we make the content easier. (i.e. there's a reason healerless runs aren't just full of Machnists and Dark Knights)
Also fun fact I got a video of myself and others doign All healer Euphorosyne (myths of the realm alliance raid) suck it Tanks and DPS!
I'm a tank main. DRK is my preferred tank but it sucks right now. No, I'm not going on strike over it. I either play it and deal with the complete lack of any self sustain, or I que as something else.
Heyhey~ If you may remember Miriam from Fates in Dawntrail thats me. Got that Video recommended and guess you have a new Subscriber 😊 To the Topic: To be Honest the Healer Strike is for me atleast not noticeable. Every Dungeon i had a Healer healing me and Support me. Some told me while grinding Fates they never heal in Dungeons any Tank. Its just dumb tbh.
Sorry thats stupid. I can hardly keep people alive XD the DT dungeons are hard to heal 95 and up.
Try to heal with the bullshit potency of sage rn. not play high potency astrologian then healing is busy as fuck lol
oh and also u can solo bosses as basically any tank. But the way u do trashmobs u can fkn believe me: YOU NEED A HEALER.
And also also- the 1% that can actually play can of course clear anything without anything. but HAVE YOU PLAYED WITH RANDOS! HAVE U. U PROBABLY HAVENT IF U THINK ITS EASY
(ofc not you you- these healerstrike dumbos)
Reminder: there is no real "healer's strike" it's a few cry babies who want the old, trash way healers used to be back, and it's not goin to happen, this little group will die out soon enough because they don't matter.
Reminds me of that guy who was complaining about how Dawntrail dungeons are too hard only to have someone dig up a post of him complaining about how Heavensward Dungeons were too easy.
Strike?
Well it's not working. I haven't even noticed a healer shortage.
They should do something more productive which would get more support across the board, like a written letter/petition signed by as many as possible & then send it to Yoshi P.
If that doesn't work, just give it up as you can't get your own way all the time.
This healer strike imo really dumb. People who part this strike seem more focus dps let tanks and team die. I understand tanks can SOLO alot things but there TANKS there supposes be last one to die unless it a stack/special mechanic. Even then they can dps if they "Just maintain hp correctly". You want make healing fun? then appreciate what you have NOW. Not what it should be by a standard only fit for selfish wishing. Lastly as someone who plays all job healing and dps at same time is not hard just practice and get GOOD at your jobs, READ YOUR TOOL TIPS.
The healer strike is irrelevant because I’ll just pick healer and go into the roulette myself
As a healer main myself, I think the strike is dumb and nonsensical. Sure a more engaging rotation would be nice, but an easy time of things is my reward for everyone doing things correctly. It's not my job to constantly be pumping out HPS, as though I was playing WoW, my job is to fix other peoples screwups, and the occasional heal up after raid wide damage. If my party knows the fights, well, time to be a glare mage (or Broil my enemies alive in my case). And honestly, as someone who does a lot of Duty Finder and Party Finder content, I'm GONNA be needed, because people are going to screw up, maybe less so in dungeons, but dungeons were never meant to feel difficult. Doesn't stop tanks who don't know that mitigation is for trash and not just bosses from existing, though, so that's always a thing I'll deal with on occasion.
"Pull off the gloves to bare knuckle a dumb cluck" is now forever a part of my vocabulary. Thank you for this gift.
From what I understand healers just want more dps buttons or I assume that's what they want because there is nothing they can do to healers that will make them happy…I mean your job is based off keeping the party alive and if everyone is doing mechanics and properly mitigating then the healer's job becomes much easier and obviously more boring or as they put it, brain dead…you can't give them more healing options that'll make it even easier. You can't upgrade skills that'll make it easier. So give them a couple buttons they need to press every 2 minutes and that will shut them up I promise you. The healer strike is indeed dnmb and if I didn't know any better I'd say the strikers forgot the fact they are playing a healer not a tank or a dps and they're actually complaining their job is too easy when in fact there was also a time nobody wanted to heal because it was too hard smh
Healers this expansion have been putting in the work, and we appreciate them for it. They said content was gonna get harder, and it definitely has, and theyve been doing their best to getus through it. Good thing we all feel the same about black mage for the most part.
Meh. I'm a simple man. All I want are one or two of my DoTs back on Scholar. Meanwhile, I sort of got my wish for the old HW card system back on Astro and I'm really enjoying it as I level it up on my main. 🙂
I'm not on stike but the recent developments made me play anything but Healer nowadays.
I had more fun Healing newbs rather than Savage clear. That's how it went for me.
Ah welp. Maybe its fun for other people.
P/S: was a Savage Healer (not a good one, heh) since ShB. Primarily as H2 (AST SCH SGE). Got burned out on P12S.
I didn't even realize there was a healer strike xD
Healers no matter the MMO are the most boring class to play.
When everyone does what they need to do you're playing solitare until those HP bars drop.
Devs put damage buttons in the kit because they know healers will sometimes solo and its filler between hit heal button gcd A and heal button GCD B.
In short most of these healers that are striking are disgruntled scholars from ARR/HW era who are mad their shadow flare, dots and juggling aetherflow is taken away from them…thus being forced to play the job like a healer.
What healer strike? You're like 2 weeks late where that did nothing
I remember telling a friend of mine about some of the demands being made and he was dumbfounded by them wanting to effectively remove abilities from the kits of Warriors.
Mind you, he hasn't played FFXIV but he does definitely know a thing or two about the importance of maintaining the kit of a character/class (he plays Smite).
The whole strike from the get go was dumb in my eyes, as those leading the charge didnt have any endgame clears and the rest who followed them couldn't make up their minds about what they wanted. Its was a disjointed mess that felt more like a cry for attention rather than a desire to change the game to make healers fun.
Also, if I ever ran into a healer who decided to queue up then grief the dungeon because of the strike, I'd either report them or chew them out. Protesting is fine, i support protests. Once it starts to negatively impact others though, thats when I take issue. At least in FFXIV, whole cities won't become the modern day equivalent of Dresden
The healer strike isn’t irrelevant, since it started all the healers I’ve gotten have been absolutely cracked and awesome, appreciating the limited amount of healers because the ones that remain are, yk, good
I'm still healing in roulettes, I quite enjoy it sometimes, I see the flaws of the job but going on a strike seems a little extreme to me.
Half these healers don't even dps they just sit there and cast hots or heals
I played through Dawntrail as. A Healer the only boss i had trouble ahem my party had trouble with was a boss alot of ppl seemed to have issues with the first boss of the dungeon leading to the end of Dawntrail PS: i hope that wasnt too spoilery for those that havnt finished yet 🙂
Notice how in the echo chambers where these complaints take place, they all think they're in that upper percentile of players? Yet in game you see an abundance of people who haven't the foggiest what they're doing.
The need to be seen as 'good and insightful' seems to drive a lot of people to jump on the complain-train.
