React to Limit Max Reacting to Me: World 1st Raider on FF vs WoW Raids

Limit Max watched my video on his stream. I recap the key learnings I missed out in my original video regarding FFXIV vs World of Warcraft raids, which Max rightly pointed out from the perspective of a WoW world first raider in numerous tiers. Thanks Max for the shoutout (:

  1. Regarding Paisley Park, the FF addon that moved your markers during combat, it didn't affect Wormhole in the slightest. My group used Paisley Park during TEA simply to change the markers between phases, and the addon was broken during our progression. We had no reprog time at all on Wormhole because there are numerous landmarks in that phase that you have to learn on every single number such that the waymarks were redundant. We set them in that phase instead for things like the post-Inception formation cleaves. The only thing we had to relearn after Paisley Park broke was how to split for Limit Cut, which operated on the same rules we had initially come up with, just with more extraneous information on the ground since we had to place waymarks relevant to our phase 4 prog. The only mechanic this limitation affected long-term was the Exatrine safespot, since players could no longer designate one player to place the waymark in the safespot for everyone to follow, and instead had to follow a callout.

Regarding TPS, I don't really recall them using anything for Wormhole beyond text-to-speech, which they had to code themselves anyway. You can't Paisley Park your way into cheesing that mechanic because, again, everybody is doing something different, and everybody has to learn every single number themselves. Even considering that, in order to program PP into doing anything that would be relevant to doing that mechanic, they'd have to figure out the mechanic top-to-bottom by themselves, which they did obviously do.

  2. wow this is sick! 😀 gratz on cleaning up your gaming-life-bucketlist on top speed haha 😀
Would love to see Limit and Echo compete in FF14 EW world first raiding tbh would be fun if they host a huge event for it and stuff 😀

  3. blizzard does not want scaling down to play old content, because re-releasing them for classic makes more money rather than the alternative….its all just money for them and i hate that classic is successful. Also the reason why max prefers to have his lvl 80 skills in lvl 50 raids is because he started at lvl70 and it spoiled him, doing 50 raids but if you have no idea what skills you will have in the future makes the older raids more fun because that's how the experience was intended

  4. I really hope the FF14 dev's don't ever officially allow add ons in the game. I just don't want to see the game go into the same direction as WoW. UI customization add ons should be the only things allowed and I still think that should be "officially" allowed. Just no add-ons. Fuck that shit. I don't think WoW raids being designed around add ons is a good thing. They could have had a stance like FF14 and made the game difficult without letting add ons be used and I bet the game would have been in a better state I terms of raising. Just because the game is still difficult even with add ons doesn't mean it is a good thing. But also at that point, if raids are designed around addons, why aren't these add on features already part of the game itself? Are the dev's really just that lazy?

  5. can't really compare kill times. ff is just die, 15 or 30 second cd deppending on if you have an astro or not, then pull. no bs to get back to the boss so you can do a ton of pulls fast as opposed to wow. we all know how annoying it is when you die to a raid boss and have to get back to it lol

  6. To my knowledge, there's an external plugin somewhere out there that actually telegraphs the size/shape of untelegraphed AoEs. I remember seeing a clip of a CN raid group use it for Cruise Chaser's cleaves in the Limit Cut mechanic in TEA, so people could easily adjust to not hit other players. Really takes away from the intended experience.

  7. Max is very biased in terms of WeakAuras. His reasoning is that fights are now built around WeakAuras, well that's because raiders relied too heavily on it and now Blizzard has to develop around a third party program to make the fights more challenging. This is a result of you guys leaning too heavily on text based pop ups to tell you how to resolve mechanics, it's your own doing that third party programs became 'necessary'.

That said, I do respect his takes and he does have some great commentary, but I will never be in the group that's for third party programs telling you how and when to resolve mechanics.

  8. Hey Quazil! Love your channel!

But hope you do something. You mentioned amazing wow trailers briefly. But I'm a FF-only player. I have no clue re: wow. But I would love to see it. Could you please make a video for FF players that showcase the best stuff you've seen in WOW? XD

  9. 48:00 Actually when TEA first came out, there were a few add-ons on the internet. Interestingly, someone decided to record it and posted it on Twitter. Then people sent that video to GM, and I think that player got banned. Then in the next PLL YoshiP talked about it on live stream that these kind of mechanics solving add-ons are not allowed in the game.
One of the add-ons automatically put floor makers (1,2,3) on certain places to indicate where the players should go. (At that time you can change the floor markers during any time in a fight.) Because of that, YoshiP decided to make floor makers unchangeable after you pull the boss.
(And funny thing, I heard a few raid groups having hard time to reclear TEA after that function got changed.)
