I was just talking about unifying the two-part starting cities into one with a friend. It’d probably a lot of effort already only considering the number of class and job quests that would need to be rewored and checked that nothing broke.
If the zones got new versions, it could be cool to have them progress a bit onward from the calamity, but then stepping into the open world zones where the calamity is still a sore point would maybe feel a bit incongruous.
does anyone else have a crush on chris?
My bro and I going to fan fest! Looking forward to it and possibly meeting ya.
Superion and Ironhide Prime!
Can y’all do a quick video for those that are going to Fan Fest? Things to take, “wear deodorant”. Things like that?
Yes asking this question mid watching the current video so, sorry if you answer this in the future part of the Vid lol
I am personally still in ShB patch content so I have not experienced everything in the game or keep up with what is to come in 7.0.
But what I personally would like to see the most in the game is the following.
Restructuring of the server / open world map system in the game to something similar that is in Guild Wars 2. If possible.
Considering that we already have instanced content with cross world parties, maybe it could be done?
Make the game an actual mmo in open world too.
Reason is that the maps are very quiet and static in the end. Fates and bounties are there but nothing else (no large events and things happening) and not many players either.
So pretty much combine each data centers own servers player base in maps to one map would make things feel more alive.
And increase the amount of gameplay in those maps for the more casual players of the game. As now we basically have – story – crafting – dungeons – relic grinds – and raids. We are missing the frequent open world grouping up of random players.
Add each map a few more new Fates (maybe decrease the respawn time of those Fates a bit due to increase in player amount from server merging of maps).
Add some of the maps extra things to do (large bosses at the end of fate chains) and the ShB shared fate system, with maybe like 40-50 as max requirement – 60 is too much with so little fate variety in maps.
Something like that as I am seeing quite a lot of players feeling that the game is stuck too much in the same pattern of content realease. New maps with the same static feel – dungeons that you run a few times – raids eventually. Rinse and repeat. The game is not surprising them in the gameplay sense and that is dangerous for an mmo.
Think about any long running game series. Even in those the games differ with some mechanics, ui, skill tree etc.
With FF14 that is not happening. In GW2 there seems to be constantly new things added (some good, some bad but never static and stale).
14 needs more innovation in a sense to keep more veteran players interested in the mmo sense.
Developers should not get stuck in the comfort zone. Too much innovation is bad as you do not refine what you create. Too little on the other hand makes you lose interest.
Also
Maybe add a gear / skill system to incorporate some player choice to gameplay. Now we do not have any choice even though it is an rpg so to say.
Edit:
Basically the game needs mmo content that keeps the community alive and healthy. The last things you want is people feeling bored and leave as that kills FC's which then perpetuates other players leaving too.
The only thing that has kept me so active in the game is my FC and our min ilvl raid content clearing that we have done for the past year together. If I did not have that I would have already done the story and gone to other games until the next patch / espansion.
O.o😂
Man I would love to just go back and get story parts of FFXIV 1.0. I really think for how integral that part of the game is to the story its wild that we have no other way to experience that outside of a US based company aka. Alphabet, aka. Google, aka. YouTube.
A nee pet class to replace the one they just @#$&ing destroyed. Or a new plot to replace one of the ones they just mangled. You know, one of the ones they spent literal years building up only to unceremoniously dump (one literally off screen) in favor of having the REAL big bad be a woobie, destroyer of worlds who appeared in the ELEVETH HOUR and was also one of the friends we made along the way? Oh and it'd be nice if it had its own identity and didn't just borrow entire set pieces and ideas from earlier iterations. Look its Holminster Switch part 2 but far worse! Look its building the giant talos part 2! Look its Amaurot part 2 but emo and nihilistic!
I just… really need for the writing team to do better.
Updating the 3 starting cities and Ishgard into one-zone maps would be much appreciated. We shouldn't have to suffer from PS3's limitations in 2023.
didnt this guy quit the game? the ginger guy
How many patches are there, historically?
The fact we still devalue expansions by numbers proves it will be a failure.
Hmm, I'm not sure I agree with the idea that x.5 patches are much larger than other odd numbered patches; especially in this expansion where we've gotten simultaneously so much and so little content at the same time. I really would find it odd if they did the x.55 MSQ continuation for Endwalker, unless it was specifically used for pivoting to 7.0's story, given how bizarre the pacing has been for the Endwalker patch MSQ — it'd feel weird if they kept the pacing for the x.5 and x.55 story follow-up the exact same.
I also definitely disagree with the x.3 Ultimate being "most interesting" at .3 — especially with this expansions cadence for content. They really should move the .3 Ultimate to .5 patches — progging content for months, nonstop, as you go from .0 Savage -> .1 Ultimate -> .2 Savage -> .3 Ultimate -> .4 Savage has, at least anecdotally for my friend and raid group(s), contributed to a huge amount of burnout.
As much as we are getting close to actively shard hopping, I really hope we "finish" looking at and visiting places on our Shard we haven't visited. I agree with you 100% that I do not want this expansion to be just zones of those places — I would like to see full expansions dedicated to the New World, Meracydia, whatever is left of Ilsabard and Othard, etc. There's so much left we have to explore on our world and I'm worried with all of the Shard stuff that's happening with the Void quest and Y'shtola looking at being able to travel, we'll skip over it to just go explore other shards.
The "not always willingly" comment made me chuckle. Garlemald is explicitly a fascist Empire, so using Russia as a comparison is a pretty good one; but the vast majority of their conquest was imperialist conquest, so even a majority of the places that were "willing" were "willing" insofar as their options were die or live under foreign occupation.
I would absolutely love to see the City States updated to accommodate merging them into one zone, entirely. There's really no reason not to other than the obvious FFXIV spaghetti code jank.
Anyway, for 7.0 my hopes are:
– new caster (bonus if DoT focused)
– new dex melee
– announcing going forward they're only adding 1 job per expansion to better focus on expanding and tweaking combat to be more dynamic
– changes to the current battle design philosophy (the two minute meta is absolutely godawful and I wish they'd just remove all party buffs except for Support and Quasi Support jobs)
– foray/exploratory zone coming back
– female hrothgar
– Viera and Hrothgar can actually wear all hats
– better accessibility options for players with disabilities and vision issues (6.0 has been absolutely godawful to raid in, imo. this raid tier has had so many truly awful color design choices for skyboxes, effects, mobs, etc. that all blend together for people like me who have color vision deficiency)
– cross DC party finder
– new/interesting midcore content that has replayability
Honestly, I truly cannot wait for 7.0 to get here. I adored the 6.0 MSQ, but the patch cycles have been some of the worst FFXIV I've experienced, and I really hope whatever they were working on with 7.0 and resources they shifted to 16 have swung back, and we see 7.0 iterate and expand on the game and move it forward.
