And next episode, it ENDS Thanks for joining us so far on this immense journey team! Just a little farther to go now…
Yeah, this part really brings on the tears, especially when those two appeared, completely blew my mind!
And i want to go to all the places Emet discribed! gods! the potential for future adventures is mindblowing!
Can't wait!
been a long journey and now its coming to a close
At one point it was said that Meteion was small. But if you recall when you first go to Elpis Emet-Selch increased your size to be comparable to them. Meteion was about waist high to Hermes. I(as a mid height Hyuran female) was about knee high to the Amaurotine. Which means the tallest Au Ra male would probably be about waist to chest high to Meteion. Which would be kind of scary to see a big Meteion towering over you. Either the developers forgot about this fact or Meteion somehow altered her own size to be her relative size as when she met you in Elpis.
The Emet and Hythlo being relative size could just be the creation magic. Plants and animals can be explained for their size due to the sundering.
the "cyrillic" F in "Hope Not Found" is actually the greek letter "phi". the triangle "D" in the same quest name is the greek "delta." numerous greek letters are used in the quest names at that section…. as well as in the naming themes of the omicrons. "Omicron" itself being a greek letter, for one.
Emet's lines are so good in this part. "As a show of respect to the last of us…" where he finally considers us to be one of them, worthy to carry on the legacy of Amaurot. "Save our star", calling it "our" instead of his or theirs. And finally, when he's preparing to depart and sees us reminiscing on our time together, he sees that we may end up being trapped in the memories of the past like he was, and instead gives us a path forward by listing all the places he has been and challenging us to go there. I love this story.
damn crazy great writing cant wait to see the end
That bloody Ambystola (or however you write that word…) XD I found it in Labyrinthos when you show the Loporitts around: with the same looking glass-quest you can see it on some random tower. At least now I know where it went from there XD
47:15 —- The flowers were our idea 🙂 Remember what Emet-Selch said before: that they would fuel the creation but what form it takes is up to us. This quote of Hermes was said in a vision of the past (in the past, yes) that we had with Venat. Emet and Hythlodeus werent there with us, so they wouldnt know.
But flowers and their rainbow colors show that we have changed this realm enough to break Meteion's hold over it: the changes our friends began are now new reality so their continuing struggle isnt needed anymore. Meteion herself started to change, bit by bit. At least, thats my interpretation 😀
Also, keep in mind that Emet and Hythlodeus are actually stunted 😀 As Ancients they should be about two or three times taller than us – I can imagine this would gall Emet XD
Alisae's VA was so damn good this expansion. I mean she was always good, but she really brought it for some of these cutscenes. Edit: Not sure if it was mentioned, but wayyyy back in your first visit to Labyrinthos when Krile is first possessed by Hydaelyn, she mentions 'bringing back another soul from the First, who may yet have a part to play'. Now we know who it was she brought over!
I loved the nice subtle edits! It made the scenes mire meaningful to me!
I don't know if you guys saw it in Sharlayan, but that little abastoma fellow is also chilling on a ledge when you do the scope mini game for the loporits when they're wanting you to find details on the area (when you're waiting for the goods to get delivered to the city by your many connections) 😀
Something I'm just now realizing though having watched your video….I also thought Emet was talking diectly to us when he turns back to look our way, but I believe he was still talking to Venat, like you do when you're mumbling loudly to yourself ya know? Because while we are much more whole than other fragmented Ancients, we weren't "The last of our kind" like Hydaelyn says of herself when she challenges you. So when Emet says "And so, as a show of respect to the last of us," the two moments finally clicked in my head and now I realize he was still grumbling to Venat that whole time lmao
having emet and hythlodaeus there to push us over the finish line in ultima thule was my favorite bit of the entire expansion. i was sooooo happy to see them and immediately felt kinda saved and relieved of my burden.
I really enjoy that Emet finally got what he truly wanted after all those millenia he had to carry this burden. He finally get to return to the star togheter with Hythlodeus, looking forward to the day when Azem's soul can finally join theirs. I've always felt like all Emet truly wanted in the end was to free Hythlodeus soul from being a part of Zodiark and find his friend Azem, things which would only be possible if they finnished the rejoining. So even if Emet lost he still got what he desired, Hythlodeus soul was freed from Zodiark and he found his lost friend as part of the WoL.
please do Omega raids 🙂 it will let you uinderstand a lot more🙂
Love your playthrough!✨
That scene where G'raha tells you about how Omega was weak to lightning is quite different if you did the raids. Somewhat spoilers, but in one of those fights, you get a duty action where you use one of Cid's inventions to give out a blast of lightning, and that's how G'raha knew Omega was weak to lightning.
And when you respond to his "should we do it" question, we have a third option saying, "Why don't we just use Cid's lightning jammer," and G'raha perks up, saying, "What?! You brought it all the way here? Wait…you only carried the trigger in that battle, the actual device is far too bulky. You're just teasing me, aren't you?"
Thx for adding the portraits of the characters during the walk. As a French player who have japanese voices, I couldn't recognize them. ♥
So, when the Ea and the Omicrons explained their reasons for wanting oblivion, I just kept responding, "…so? Is the idea of living without a purpose or any attainable goals for the future really that daunting? I handle it just fine."
With all the existential crises in this area, I kept thinking "Nietsche would have a field day here."
You can spot the Axolotl in a few other places during similar quests… my personal headcanon is that lil fella from Elpis jumped in our bag of holding before we came back to the present and keeps returning to it every time his Adventure Sense tingles when we're leaving an area.
Fun fact: the song that plays in Ultima Thule, Close in the distance, is sung by JC Miller, who both sang the Shadowbringers theme as well as was the voice actor for Raubahn in ARR.
49:23, no, that's a goddamn planetary pimple.
This game is so good i swear.
Jason Charles Miller, singer and English voice actor for Raubahn Aldynn in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, sings the song, "Close in the Distance" – composed by Masayoshi Soken, with lyrics by Natsuko Ishikawa and Michael-Christopher Koji Fox – heard in the Endwalker launch trailer and during the segment of Endwalker in this video.
Hades setting up the roadmap for future expansions/patches was a stroke of genius. I'd seen so many people worry this was the end of FFXIV, but there is so so much left to see and learn.
I loved how it was Emet telling us "hey – here's your next adventure"…… yeah – I had to do Ultima Thule in one take and by his point, I was pretty much tears. Didn't help that it was after midnight and I'd been up since 5 am.
Ah, Beq Lugg were the one I couldn't remember, thanks for this :]
54:26 i love that Smile better suits a hero moment 😀
;( ahhh still makes me cry cant wait for next episode! you'll be done by this point i hope you guys enjoyed it! also Close in the Distance is one of my favourite songs ever now! chills
Fantastic as always but OmG SOPHIE it’s great that you put the portraits of the characters with their voices! I was such a sopping mess going through here that I couldn’t place most of the voices. I really appreciate that and your endscreen. 😭 I appreciate you posting these videos, Cob.
If you go back to the first
Beg Luug will reveal that she is angry about how we didn't told them about the doom
well it appear that our queen is the one who told them
Love how WoL just needed a pep talk from bff Emet to get that fire in the pit going again 🔥
I'm a relatively new convert to the Cobrak vids but OMG has it been amazing following you both through your journey through FFXIV. I'm with you through whatever you decide to do from here on out. 🙂
I know shb and endwalker gave a lot of development to emet. But I hope people don't ever forget he's a genocidal maniac that has killed millions of people. His goal doesn't preclude his actions
47:30 everyone misses it, that part hydaelyn speaks, as thanks to her gift into our azem stone we can summon the dead, as we did for emet, hythlo and the scions… i wonder if that blue shine means her gift was wholly expended … thats the feeling i get from it.
At 20:46 when the music just cut out abruptly and mid-bar, that was the second time in this zone that I worried. That it unapologetically got to me. (The first time was not when Estinien left, but Alphinaud's reaction.)
If you two like Krile then doing Eureka could be a good use of your spare time.
