  1. azu making sure that every role will have a job with an eastern theme

I really like the idea of the apothecary. A caster with ninjutsu-style actions sound really fun and it would make for some interesting weapon designs.

  2. "Apothecary" is basically the idea I pitched as "Chemist" for a Healer Job. I'm not sure if they want to do that for a DPS or not.

They REALLY don't want a Necromancer, though I think a large part of this (look at SMN) is that they seem to REALLY not want a pet class. Also the undead thing.

Personally, my money's on Time Mage or Green Mage, though given SGE was released not being what a normal Sage is in Final Fantasy, who knows?

  3. I really love the job speculation series. I like how with the Originator you kind of solved the issue of a straight up Necromancer being "too evil" . And another pet call would definitely be and interesting addition. If i had the choice here i would go fot the Originator since i would love a straight up edgy caster but i can see the appeal of a "potion" caster or a DPS where you can mess up like Ninja.

  4. An idea I thought about for a mage would be a sort of caster that fights up close, using their body and crystals or jewelry for their spells. So the way I imagine it is the weapon would be bracelets or some other form of jewerly where the caster stores the aether they would use to cast their regular use spells. For bigger spells however, the caster would use crystals to store the spells themselves. Once the crystals have gathered enough aether to cast the spell they hold then the caster simply uses the crystal to release the spell. Storing things in crystals is not foreign to FFXIV so who is to say spells themselves cannot be stored? We have crystals with aether and crystals with memories, knowledge and even souls.
Maybe the caster could have a gameplay loop that revolves around having residual aether from regular play be stored into a particular crystal and then release the spell when ready. Maybe you have multiple crystals with different benefits to them and you choose in which to begin storing aether, while planning for the future

  5. I want a job where the caster uses bells as there weapons and every time the weapons need an up grade the bells get more and more intensive i think there was a final fantasy game where you played useing bells would so love to see that

  6. I don't get the dot love. When I played bard and preendwalker summoner and white mage the Dot were never that great solo. It's neat to have but not that detrimental if you don't. I'm probably missing something though.

  7. I'd like the next caster job to use the scepter weapons that were dropped by black mage.

As far as the job goes, I'm still hoping to see a shaman job that uses beasts spirits in a similar way to the summoner but give them a form change like reaper and/or a melee phase like red mage.

  8. Originator sounds sick and so unique. Maybe also make capable of manipulating dinomus. Since at least from what I can understand it’s more akin to spiritual energy rather then a physical one

  9. Originator, sounds almost like what I was thinking. Just instead was thinking a taoist. Like red mage would have magic and melee. Melee and short cast talisman to build Guage. You'd use the Guage to use formations or arrays: 2 dps, 2 dot, 1 mit., and 1 buff formation/arrays.

  10. I like that you for this series make a point to speculate on XIV original jobs, not just because that's what we're more likely to see going forward, but also because a lot of the discussion I've seen has been about pulling jobs from other games in the series, so this is a nice change of pace. Originator reminds me a bit in concept of the Grave Domain cleric subclass in 5e, which is also a more "wholesome" death themed class, which I quite like.

  11. A Siren job with a focus on voice attacks or vocal melodies would be neat. Makes a good complement to dancer and bard. Though maybe it's better off as a ranged physical DPS.

  12. I actually think making the Originator a debuff/buff focused class, with curses and blessings from the talisman, and the Apothecary a DoT class, with poisonous and venomous concoctions, would be a better fit!

  13. I'd love to see the Time Mage coming to FFXIV, tho having a death themed job would also be great. They could deff aproach death magic in a respectful way, being something related to priests, shamans or oracles too.

  14. Id really like to have a Time Mage, maybe they could have a buff that gives everyone a faster GCD timer, or gives everyone Lightspeed. Probably the first, since Lightspeed seems very useless on Physical Jobs, even with that one skill with a cast bar, like RPR's Communio or SAM's Iaijutsu

A job that's like Astro and it has spells that take a minute to reach full potential

  15. These clickbaits go too far. You evoce the idea that new classes are coming and they would have been hinted at or something; even though this is naught but fan fiction. Please clarify this in your insidious thumbnails.

but in all seriousness, i like the originator idea. the apothecary seems cool, too. these "simple" ideas i can really see in the game and would be nice addition to the game. but then again, the next two jobs could completely different from the ideas or similar to your ideas.

  17. I'd like to see a battle mage type caster. Someone who casts spells to enhance the heavy hitting attacks. The dots elements should also come back too but do it in a way that once the dots accumulates to 3 points then you can do high damage cast / melee combo. Something that works with the void will also make sense. So say Spirit Master, build dots to a level then cast a spell on a weapon, maybe a flail which can smack the enemies with dots and they explode with high damage. The Spirit Master will also be another class that can use Shield, yes caster used to be able to use these but then it didn't make sense as the casters became more fragile casting type. So battle mage type would be cool to see. The Shield itself will also have magic supports like reduce damage and even stores attack received and convert a portion of that as an attack. Battle will be start dots, flail, cast another dot, flail, spread, more dots, protect, max dots, cast magic on flail and Shield. Flail combo strike with the Shield and make those dots explode. More protect and dots accumulated, more damage on burst period. So a combo of old smn, drk, pld and samurai.

  18. The Originator should probably play like Necromancer from Diablo, managing dots and pets while cycling key cooldowns and doing burst damage every now and again. Having a incense as a weapon commanding the dead where to go and assist allies with your aromas you generate as you stack with it. Maybe casting Ghost Fire balls and Spirit Water to damage and buff simultaneously.

  19. I'd love to see a Geomancer added for the mDPS job role. We know they exist in FF canon lore if you've done with Stormblood astrologian questline. While astrologians pull their power from the stars and heavens, we know that geomancers pull their power from the earth. They can also communicate with spirits, so maybe being able to summon a giant kitsune spirit would make for a fun Lv. 100 ability. Their weapon would be a bell (or like you suggested, a bell on the end of a pole) and their attacks could be elemental based similar to the geomancers that we fight in the Swallow's Compass.
