For me, the Graphical update is the best thing. Game is 10 years old and it shows with the older armor sets that have some pretty poor textures.
FF11 is a game I wish they would bring back in some way since I didn't get to play it when it was good (only once it had devolved into "Go level trusts to level cap, then come play with us"), and it is an old enough engine even mobile phones could handle it. So making it like 00s era Runescape would be cool and…probably?…feasible? But for some reason I feel like they're trying to phase out FF11 at this point instead of embracing it. Someone recently said FFXIV is basically the Runescape of our era due to the extensive free trial (that's even getting extended), so maybe it's that they'd rather shunt more people to FF14 and just taper off FF11 long term, but I honestly don't know.
I think Chris is right in the sense I'd dabble in FF11 more if I had it pretty accessible. But good god, Play Online…WHY does that exist in the year of our lord 2023??? Such a clunky system, even if I ignore the other hurdles to FF11. Then you get project horizon or whatever that has a direct launcher (don't play private servers because I'm always dreading a cease and desist, but tried it out and it's SUCH a better install experience than FF11 retail… >_< )
