Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker
is the fourth expansion pack to Final Fantasy XIV, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed and published by Square Enix for Microsoft Windows, macOS, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. It will be released in December 2021, over two years after Shadowbringers, the previous expansion. Its production was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Like its predecessors, Naoki Yoshida served as director and producer and Masayoshi Soken composed the soundtrack. The expansion pack will be released as a standalone product for current players; for new players, the “Complete Edition” that originally launched with Heavensward will be updated to include all expansions including Endwalker.
In Endwalker, players will directly confront the Garlean Empire, an expansionist power that threatens the players’ homeland and allies. Zenos, the mad son of the former emperor, has murdered his father and now seeks a confrontation with the player’s Warrior of Light. He is aided by Fandaniel, an Ascian who aims to destroy the world and thereby end his immortal existence. The story has been marketed as the “finale” of the Hydaelyn–Zodiark arc, drawing the current ongoing story to a close, with an entirely new story beginning in the major patches following release. In addition to adding new areas, the expansion pack increases the level cap to 90 and debuts two new character classes, Sage and Reaper. With the recent beta test for a PlayStation 5 version of Final Fantasy XIV, Endwalker is intended for simultaneous release on both PlayStation models.

Wow I didn't expect Hythlodaeus voice to be like that XD Both his and Emets voices are way better in the english version imo, suiting their character a lot more. This is rare for me to say as I generally don't like dubbed versions haha.
EDIT: Emets voice is a matter of taste sure… but you ain't gonna tell me Hythlodaeus voice (especially the super high pitch) isn't coming from way out of the park! XD
I like the subdued but fitting voice of Hythlodaeus in English in comparison with the Japanese ones but I can see why this is his Japanese voice XP. I like Emet-Selchs voice here. I little bit playful yet sexy XD Haha! But same, the English counterpart was well done.
Okay sorry to say that, but Hytlo and Emet has to be eng VA atleast the VA that did it in ShB and EW. It has so much more emotion iin their voice, i cant take jp va seriously 🙁 im sorry
Hythlodaeus sounds like he’s 16
kira yamato voice?
I just can't do JP voices. The subtitles are all wrong, some characters have drastic personality changes that would fit more in line with Western personality types, like Alisaie. She's far more boisterous in English than in Japanese.
So her subtitles are all wrong. And don't get me started on Haurchefaunt. >_>
I don't know why but the voices of Hades and Hythlodaeus in Japanese remind me so much of Obey Me: Shall We Date? It's a mobile game, and Hythlodaeus reminds me so much of Asmodeus for some reason.
I always loved Japanese voice acting cause they always give everything into their acting/playing – but with FFXIV it's the first time when I'm 10000% voting for the english voice actors – like come on what is that Hythlodaeus voice 😀 I saw in one of the comments that it's like a 16 years old teenager boy >_<
also Emet-Selch's english voice just melts me everytime in this scene, but the japanese is not bad either – well, preferences 🙂
Would have been better if he did the wave, but I'm wondering if he developed that tic later in life after the Sundering.
That's the reason why I also use Japanese Voice and English Subs, it just sometimes the english cv sounds pretty weird. Using Japanese Voice to play a jmmorpg game will always be the optimal choice.
I've played japanese voice from the beginning and I found their english voices so unfitting. Here I see quite the opposite opinions. Well man is a creature of habit after all.
I am playing with german subtitles and emet says " Didn't I say that you should not forget us? What are you doing, Hermes?" While in english he says "I bid them remember, but all this time, I'm the one who had forgotten". I found the latter to be so much more fitting and interesting. Now I am wondering what is the more accurate translation true to the original. Anyone speaking japanese here?
Honestly FF XIV EN voice acting blew JP out of the water. Much better delivery and expression of characters in EN overall.
English voice acting is overall good in this game, but man are they shit when it comes to sad scenes
I’m more interested in knowing if the Japanese dialogue is different not the voice acting with their actual dialogue if you translate into English
Hmmmm one quick thing… maybe try not to spoiler others on the cover image?
I don't fully understand why Emet says "I certainly did" towards the end. Did he hold Azem's crystal? If he did then when does that happen? Or am I misunderstanding something?
Fun fact: Emet-Selch, tragic villain, unsundered Ascian of immense power, acerbic wit, and scheming intellect, shares a voice actor with Jonouchi (Joey) from Yu-Gi-Oh.
Let your imagination (and possibly your art supplies/programs of choice) run wild with the mental imagery on that one.
I can't really take anyone's opinion seriously who haven't listened both languages from the start instead of just seeing snippets or singular scenes. I play with Japanese va and have listened to English va thru multiple streams and the overall English quality in my eyes has been steadily making ground with Japanese ones. Also I look characters thru the lense of voice acting less than pitch or accent as long as the accent doesnt take away anything from the characters or the scene. Hythlodeaus voice is boyish and playful to me which reminds me of Ichimaru Gin from Bleach hence I didn't instantly think of some 16yr old, the English va for him is good as well so it falls to personal preference imo. 2 major voice acting problems I had in the English one compared to Japanese were hermes/amon who seemed to have better range of emotion etc instead of sounding like a depressed joker to put it harshly or meteion who sounded more pure and innocent in jp while in English it sounded unfinished, these are my main gripes with English va in ew which in general was really good besides few odd apples. If I tried to find problems in Japanese one it would end up being more pitch related since I doubt many would find matsyas voice fitting after listening to English one thru out the expansion or the old sharlayan gramps teacher who might sound off in Japanese due to the playful tone which is more generic and perhaps relatable in English.
I wanna this time player was fixed to y'shotola's eyes
the VA's are so good
emet rules!.
the new story (speculating) is the 12 trying to reconstruct the remains of Elpis and gain the power of the ascians by forcing them back to life and fighting them to capture their spitits and become "gods of the star" with the power of creation.
I wanted to see Hythlodaeus pilot the Freedom Gundam.
