I am VERY excited to finally experience the PAIN, sadness and sorrow that I know will be in this expansion. I am already getting emotional over this!

The music gave me chills. And yeah, I don't think alphinaud will die, they always have misleading moments in the trailer. It could just as easily mean him stepping down from the scions to do other important stuff (like Lyse at the end of StB). Tbh I think Y'shtola is the most likely candidate since she's already had close calls, and she's been burning up her life force for a while now. I'll be happy if everyone lives though.
For me this launch trailer music tops expansion trailer music.

I think people are downplaying Fourchenault visit in Eorzea. Hot take here, I actually agree with Fourchenault. I believe Alphinauld is starting to realize it too. Look at what happened in the ARR. His ego and vanity blinded him from greed. Almost losing all of his colleagues in the process. Y'ishtola is now blind and Thancred Atherically crippled forever. And his own personal feeling got in a way with Azure Dragoon in the Dragon song war. Papalymo ultimately paid with his life later because of it. And lets not go into the world of 1st with Eulmore with Kai Shirr. Although Alphinauld may be doing it in the best interest, consequences along the way leaving wake of woes behind. Because of this, I think he will do something stupid in Endwalker. Perhaps a sacrifice for himself rather than others.
I don’t think either of the twins are going to die, they tend to red herring us a lot in launch trailers. In Stormblood everyone was sure Yshtola was gonna die because of false death flags. Don’t get me wrong we’re going to lose someone, but I don’t think it’s going to be the twins.

After doing 5.55, I thought the lady was Hydalyn, but after the live letter, I get the feeling that isn't her. I need to rewatch the 5.55 bit to check again though.

When did they fake character deaths?
Y'shtola was hurt in Stormblood, but her survival was never in question. In Shadowbringers she was literally seen using Flow, her survival was again never in question. Thancred was the only one that could have gone either way but it's not like we saw him die.
Aye, emotions are running high. No more world-building. No more endless new characters. Every scene, every player, every moment has achieved peak context and meaning and drive. Let the cards fall where they will. See you in Endwalker!

You should never watch the launch trailer. To me it feels like it removes surprises that I would've prefer learning during my playthrough, not before. Just blue balling me and biasing my experience.
