Could Data Center Travel Bring Problems for Party Finder in FFXIV?

I am thrilled that they announced Cross Data Center at both of the fanfests for FFXIV Endwalker, because now I can play with my friends on other data centers. However I am slightly worried that this has the potential to cause some problems, specifically with instanced content in duty finder or party finder. Today I will be discussing that.

  1. I mean, I've already dealt with a dungeon run where most of the party spoke Portuguese. We did alright, all things considered.
Also, I'm just really looking forward to this so I can finally play with one of my best friends from the Philippines.

  2. Tbh i think that Cross DC is only for visiting and not for Actual playing. The Lag would be Insane if NA,EU and JP Players are all in 1 grp and go raiding.

The only thing i could imagine is that the Grp Play is limited to the own Region so Light can only Play together with Chaos because both DC's are in Europe.

  3. The EU servers have had this problem since their launch and I honestly havent had much of an issue with language barriers as much as you'd think, the large majority of EU know english even at surface level. As for Asia servers I am uncertain though.

  4. this is a non issue, when you make a party finder currently, you vet the ppl and or have specific wants/needs, listing a PF as "english" only then talking to the players who apply is a no brainer, and the same goes for ping, PF is all about communication and talking prior to the fight, no one throws up a PF, accepts every single person without vetting them and then goes straight into the content, the only thing that changes with data center travel is that now you will have to Vet ping(which we already kind of do) and langauge.

  5. We're getting data center visit, not cross data center pf and df. It will be very rare to have people visiting from a data center that is out of region in a run of instanced content, because there just aren't many good/common reasons to do so. Well, there aren't many reasons to visit the NA and EU data centers. I wouldn't be surprised if JP suddenly started to see some NA/EU players jumping over there and hopping into Savage via Raid Finder. Hunt trains on the other hand are going to be a mess…

  6. This definitely wont be a new problem. this will only help the game. I from the US and I play on chaos and do a lot of pf as well as raid with friends. unfortunately pf dies around 6pm my time so I cant really do much raiding or even playing the game at that point. with DC travel, I can play the game at basically all hour of the day . plus Macro's exist so like, the language barrier wont be that bad when strats are established. I raid with frenchies in PF all the time and it's generally fine. the only thing that will get fucked up is hunt trains
