This goes to show how easy it is to trick people into thinking there is "content" like wow has "content" because of how hard its get mounts and gear. FF makes gearing and mount farming actually easy. So people are mad that they can get everything they want aslong as they put their mind to it. WoW makes it a grind and rng to the max to get things. Like one attempt per week for an rng mount drop. If ff did that peiple would flip
Do the Bozja Duels. If you like Blu Mage you will like the Bozja Duels and their own special mechanics that require Lost Actions. Each duel gives a title and 99 lootboxes. If you're a caster you can pretty much cheese them also. I dont recommend Ranked PVP it can be really sweaty.
I've been playing XIV since Easter 2015. I've never tried an Unreal fight either. I'd love the Morbol mount too but I just never feel like doing things with my Blue Mage. I'm proud though that I did the 200 floors of PotD and I do have the Ozma mount as well.
Ive been playing for 2 years almost & this game has stuff to do, always.
The complant about there being nothing to do is probably from a very small number of players because as a casual player, I find that there is always something to do, whether its making food or helping out new players, there is always something to do, even if its farming achievements –
All in all, its an irrelevant argument based on a small number of people that play too much of this game.
As someone who is currently suffering through progging TOP, as well as doing many other things concurrently like leveling my crafters and gatherers, relic weapons, achievement grinding, pvping (help pls), eureka, bozja and much much more in F14. In addition to playing other games woth friends, i will say that i can not relate as much to this, but i can see where they are coming from considering that this does come up alot from some of my other friends.
Still here for that Aitherea Rap, one day, that will be the content we deserve! But I still have relics galore to do, but I like to bank mats and do a bunch at a time. tons of bicolor gemstones, ShB fates to max. But I think relics could drop earlier, cause you can make a "grind" of it and not slam it into the last 3 or 4 patches.
Honestly if they just gave us reasons to farm content instead of putting in a weekly cap for gear that isn’t even BiS, it would be a lot better. However I find it atrocious that we aren’t getting relic weapons yet.
Earlier evergreen is the easiest way to basically remove most complaints. This game doesn't have a gear grind, it doesn't have a mythic plus, it doesn't have open world pvp, etc. People want to play the game, don't see anything that grabs them (and when people shout at people to fish or whatever it makes me roll my eyes) and say "theres nothing to do".
Considering 14 is quietly bankrolling the entirety of Square Enix it's kind of hilarious how little they prioritize it. "We don't have enough dev time" is a bad excuse when it's self-inflicted by not hiring more developers for the second most successful MMO in the world.
If the schedule was too tight before for a healthy work life balance for the devs… get more developers and keep a healthy work life balance! Don't push out delays onto your consumers! We're rife with alternatives.
Hey I've been playing for 5 months! FIVIES
Starting TT is definitely a little daunting, but you probably already have more cards than you realize, and most of the rules are pretty simple and easy to pick up on the more you play. Just play NPCs whenever you can in the ARR zones and go from there. You will have to decide between spending MGP on cards vs that 4mil Blimp mount though sadly, because the cards themselves are a bit of a sink and there's no other way to get them other than spending MGP.
Yeah, I unsubbed but while I still have game time left, I plan on completing the role quests for Dawntrail for melee and magical DPS, getting my Reaper to Level 90 to get a Mandervillious Scythe, check out the Echoes of Vana'diel, and get the mount for clearing all 12 routes in any Variant Dungeon(I have one route cleared on each one). Also I'll try to complete the Sorrows or Werlyt which are the only thing I need to do to clear all of Tataru's Grand Endeavours. 🙂
As someone who's played for about the same amount of calendar time as you (June of 2019), I find myself feeling like I have nothing to do, but the reality is I have nothing to do without finding a new dedicated group to do harder content with. My current static group is very casual and we're just now finishing the raid tier and getting everyone their mount. They don't really have interest in doing Ultimates, or Criterion dungeons, or don't have the time to put into doing more content than they already are. Committing to two or more different groups and schedules is a huge commitment of time and can be difficult in general to find ones that don't dissolve after the first 2-3 weeks, or that don't conflict horribly with your long standing groups you already have. This has always been my struggle.
Hilariously, other than the Criterion dungeons, solo deep dungeon runs (which I'm working on EO right now), and Ultimates, I've actually done everything on your list (at least to some extent, I don't have every relic weapon for every job, but that's also not really fun to do and is best done over time and slowly). I recently (like a month ago) picked up BLU and finished all of the carnival, including the special achievement for the umbrella. No, I haven't cleared all the raids as BLU teams, but again, similar time and group commitments as Ultimate/Criterion Savage, etc. This leaves me actually feeling like there's not much left to do that doesn't involve me ditching my current friend group and raid static to conquer the last set of challenging content available to me, which feels bad to have to do, and would probably ruin my longer term enjoyment of the game.
extremes and savages will always be fun to me and i always enjoyed the Bozja and Zadnor boss fights and i was one of the few who didnt exclaim when all my jobs where fully leveled that i was free lol, the leveling was a bonus for me but having fun with the different skills you can use on yourself like more damage as a healer or life steal as a tank was like having a taste of an op job that you knew was completely unfair but was just fun to do and playing BLU is bitter fun because as good as it is and interesting using enemy skills as your spells you already know it stops at 80… and you cant just sign up to a daily roulette and play it for fun.
i havent bothered with levelling blue mage but I do want to solo maps stuff with it lol, so i need to get on that
I don't take the people complaining about "not enough content each patch" seriously because I'm 99.99% sure that 99.99$ of all of the complainers have NOT completed literally EVERY SINGLE piece of content within the game. I've argued with a few and they argue that the side quests aren't content. Yes, they are. They add lore to the game and region. So this just 100% proves that they are PICKY and ENTITLED. So don't take them seriously. This is why I hold people like this to a much higher standard before I take them seriously because it essentially weeds out the entitled attention seeking complainers. Just like "raiders" who get mad at you for not having optimal Item Level gear for a Duty Roulette dungeon or not playing optimally. Once again, unless you've completed every single piece of content at minimum Item Level to give yourself a challenge and actually give yourself some credibility to even remotely boss people around, then you're just a bossy entitled brat.
I get tired of people complaining about things, but then they do nothing to change their own situation and continue to be repetitive with the things they do in their life that actively put themselves in the situation they're in. It's not a developer's problem that you don't want to engage in certain content that they give us. That's a YOU problem. Get yourselves, complainers. Go outside, touch grass, pet a cat/dog, volunteer at a humane society because animals are much better than humans ever will be, and get out of your mom's basement.
For the price you pay for the game. You can get 3 single player games at full price each year. But I don't think the problem is with content (even if you already bought it several times over).
Is that the game is getting to be more and more single player with every patch. So the MMO proposition is being less and less. Right now you are doing 99% single player content with a group of weirdos you never see again. If you include the anti freedom of speech terms of service that prevent people from talking with each other and the culture of running as fast as possible to get out of the dungeon. You do not get much oportunity to make a community. You just get a bunch of randos who just happen to enter the game.
Party finder is horrible for old content. As it has no notifications. So whoever you get is someone that just happen to have opened the pf at that particular moment. Which are usually people looking for the latest savage.
They could make their otherwise useless moogle app serve for schedules for duties. Something like:
"I want to play X duty. Here is the time I am available. Here is a link to the strategy for this old duty. Then get notified when people who just happen to want that duty accept a time to do it."
And not lets enter at 7 wait for 4 hours and get no one. That's the current system. If I do not get people, then I can simply do other things and not wait for 4 hours to see if someone would look at the party finder and enter the duty.
There is also that most of the community are on their own bubble in discord and not even talking on game.
If the game is to survive they seriously need more multiplayer content. I can get single player games that are way better and cheaper. I want an MMO. Not a single player experience.
Here is some engagement. I was going to be very confrontational with this comment but I decided that it really wouldnt benefit anyone so I’ll just leave this to try and help the algorithm push this video.
Like, there's TONS of content in the game. if you run out of stuff to do and don't wanna jump to a different game till more comes out, do the old grinds. Try to get an old Relic Weapon, try Euika if you haven't yet, that's a good few months right there. Work on achevements, it takes like I think 5-7 years to get all the levequest achievements. Get good at crafting and make enough gil to buy Ul'Dah. Work on your Island! We both know you haven't touched it in a year.
I appreciate your positive approach to this issue. Big recommend for Ultimate Raids and Criterion, lots of fun and time to be had there. The time I spent in Eureaka and Bozja is cherished as some of the most fun I've had in the game. I started around the same time as you did and no-lifed the game throughout the pandemic. While I love your approach here, just know that it's a temporary fix to the issue that XIV is currently facing. There'll come a time when you have gotten to the end of your list and you'll be met with the painful pacing of the current content schedule. But, enjoy it while you can and cherish the time you invest in the game
If anyone else is struggling to find things to do and you like to raid, I heavily suggest going through the Binding Coils synced if you haven't yet. I'm trying to go through all the ex trials and raids synced in order, and just a couple of weeks ago we finally cleared all of coils. It's great fun, and even with the stat squish and item level scaling, it's still plenty difficult too. Heck, I've head plenty of people say it's comparable to savage content, and if that wasn't enough there's a savage version of second coil. I'd wager a good chunk of the playerbase has only done this unsynced if at all, so definitely give it a try if you haven't!
Most people have not done all the content in the game, you hit the nail on the head, just because there isn't content or new content you don't want to do, doesn't mean there is no content. And if there isn't anything for you, take a break, cancel your sub for a month or two, the devs even embrace that and have said it multiple times.
I almost feel like I've got the opposite problem 😅 every once in a while I resub to FFXIV and it's been so long since I last played "seriously" (Stormblood) that I have no idea what's going on. All my friends that play have moved on too so not getting to the group content – I just end up doing a couple story quests and then dropping it until the cycle begins again
This discussion happens after every expansion, and its honestly dumb. Just unsub and play something else until more contents gets drop. Yoshi P encourages you to do so!!
For anyone who wants to level theirr crafters/gatherers I'd recommend using the Firmament to do so, takes pretty much no time at all and will work great up to lvl 70-80 something at least (there is also some cool moutns/minions and other stuff to be gotten from the firmament, like the white pegasus mount that's market board prohibited for example). From there on it's all collectables as well as daily turn ins at your grand company.
Alternativly, if you really don't want to bother with it I'd say just do the daily GC turn ins at least, you don't even have to make it yourself and can just buy it of the market board as long as you are prepared that it can get a bit expensive. Just make sure you are buying the HQ versions for that sweet bonus experience.
Good luck!
tbh the lack of content is real, like there is nothing to do i actually had to do savage raids for the first time ever, and the worst part i already cleared them all, re clearing takes 1-2 days and then im pretty much idle for the rest of the week.
Woo back to back videos 😁
I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE!!!
YEAH DEECORATE MY HOUSE
as someone who has been playing for almost 10 years… raiding, gil-making and not being online every day helped to keep the game my main game. That being said, I'm slowly running out of old content I still want to do so I'm glad FRU is coming up to keep me going 🙂
Are you going to do a review of FF16 when you finish it? I'd like to hear your thoughts on it
Reality is if the content available is not what you enjoy unsub and come back when there is content you want to do.
I personally don't consider alot of what ffxiv puts out as content I would pay for. Never am I ever subbing for FATEs, custom deliveries, beast tribes, dungeons(holy are these boring and all the same gameplay wise), moggle tomestone events, events in general (other than the first yoship one that was cool), or any content without a decent reward or gameplay that doesn't put me to sleep. Crafting content is ok as something on the side but thats not a reason to sub or anything. There also isnt really enough incentives for people to go back and do old content, So "evergreen" has a massive barrier to entry where u sit around for hours in party finder or people just arn't in a boz or eureka sessions if you are tryin to do that at an odd time, so it's not that accessible. Oh and also roulettes are not content; devs gotta get the relic quest away from that. They just need to work alot on those pieces of content cause they have no filler. You are right though bluemage is fire content. Also the ultimates are super fun just jump on into them you will have a blast. They just arn't hitting the mark for people to stay in the game and socialize and play so most people I know are unsubbed and the game feels so much worse.
I am 100% one of the people only subbing for my house 90% of the time and yes it makes the content situation feel way, wayyyy worse. Otherwise I'd be happy to unsub and come back at intervals.
Its nice hearing all these things that newer players still have to enjoy but in my case, I'm a veteran player who knocked out most of these content sinks during covid lockdown. Unfortunately it's been the years following lockdown where it feels the content has taken a hit – no exploration zone, easy relics etc. Doubly unfortunate in my case where I developed a health condition that made me step back from content like Savage and Ultimate which is the content I want to do most. So casual content isnt scratching the itch I have.
Mostly I miss the game feeling like an MMO in the open world. Outside of hunts which are organised down to the minute and then zerged so they are no fun, there is no mass content to hang out and do together. Relics and exploration zones are sorely missed and leaving a giant hole. They need to get them right this expac.
Players(not you) complaining that FFXIV has no content is WILD. Ocean Fishing is so fun!
Sidenote: are you going to change your channel avatar/thumbs to your new model?
When it comes to ults, do TEA! like you said! TEA is like current savages in difficulty, just with more personal responsibility
I have 4 characters done with Dawntrail with 3 more on the way.
I think whats happening is that the extension to the patch cycle is really wearing people out. The time between pwtches used to be 3 months. If this was before, we would be about a month away from getting 7.2. Now that the cycle is 4.5 months between patches….yea…
I'd also like to add that there are certain restrictions they havent loosened or changed since the extension. Like savage or tomes still being kocked like 8 months later. Its kinda wild. I know the feeling of wanting to play this game more. When people say just unsub and play something else, it's true, but the gap between content is definitely being felt. And ther are those that live for this game.
