Close In The Distance (Ultima Thule) from FFXIV ft.@mauricemori/ Opera Cover

When I first heard @Jason Charles Miller sing Close in the Distance I was absolutely flabbergasted. THEN I finally heard it in context and I so overcome with emotion. What a beautiful piece written by the genius that is Masayoshi Soken. I tested and played around with it and realized that it fit the true tenor range and that it could actually make for a kick ass operatic rendition. I asked @mauricemori if he was down: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgTZWLrLOOc and we got started on a vocals/guitar classical operatic cover. Final Fantasy XIV is a very important game to me and I am glad that I have been able to cover this amazing song as well as Flow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Xnt8FFq9sk. I hope you enjoy it.

  1. I hope you enjoy this operatic rendition of Close in The Distance Featuring Classical guitar. Happily letting the notes sing. This song has such deep and profound lyrics and I'm glad I was able to bring it to life in the way I know how. Big thanks to @mauricemori for his help.

  2. Oh man… I felt goosebumps the moment I heard your voice, that was amazing.

Now I'm thinking how amazing it would be with your voice to hear Zodiark's theme / Endcaller

  3. I like it 🙂
Somehow opera in English sounds kinda off to me personally tho, I think it’s mostly because of how the letter „r“ is pronounced in English 🤔
Looking forward to more of your videos already!

  5. Immediate tears. As always Marco, masterful and full of emotion. 🙂

I had a buddy, struggled with things and I stopped hearing from him a few months ago … he took his own life a month ago and I just found out yesterday. I'd promised to help him with his drug/other addictions and had a plan set in place… the 'unbroken, promises we made so long ago' definitely hit that spot.

  6. Incredibly beautiful! Both of you! That was amazing! …Marco, you have achieved a high degree of vocal freedom! So few opera singers CAN sing effortlessly! You can! How many years have you spent in a practice room?! …That was so inspiring! I think I'm going to practice, NOW, if the kids will let me! Beautiful, absolutely beautiful! Thank you!!!

  7. Your singing is amazing! So powerful and full of character and emotion! Could easily hear this playing over a fully orchestrated version similar to Zodiark's theme. Been waiting for awhile for this and you didn't disappoint in the slightest!
