  1. I'm not sure the shininess will wear off. Honestly, I think this is the first time that WoW players are really giving FF a chance… and now that they are I think they're going to see what an amazing game it is.

  2. If you are a more casual wow player, you might stay in FF14 if you like it there. a content drought in wow and huge grind in order to get some basic content. The difference is so high between the two right now that there is more than ever quite some opportunities to create good vibes and experiences with FF14. Shadowlands was super hyped and a lot of sales, but after 2 months the exodus started. Bellular showed some numbers about it recently. These players may go back for a month or two to check the next expansion out but they won't stay for long. Trust gallops away but returns on foot. The magic of Wow is more than ever fading away an it will take huge effort to regain it. For starting players there is an insane amount of content to go thru. And seriously when your choice is an inn on fire with plenty of bots in the garden, anything is better than that. With what FF14 has to offer I can enjoy playing for a very long time. The worst of FF14 is still better than an inn on fire and bots in the garden.

  3. WoW lost so many content creators that it's just feels unreal. I always have a hope for they can turn it around and make a huge comeback but sometimes we all forget a coin has two side. Yes, they can make a comeback or become an Internet Historian episode.

  4. I think there's quite a difference between the rush to FF14 and the regular shiny new game syndrome. The difference being that FF14 has 8 years of content and community stacked up for people to play and interact with. Brand new MMOs usually don't have all that much content to offer at launch.

Case in point Asmon no-lifeing New World to max level and doing all the end-game content inside of the two week beta. Let's say it takes a regular player 3 weeks longer to reach the same point. That's still only a little over a month after launch and a new content patch probably won't be out for a bit.

  5. Very few wow bots in retail haven't seems any in months, they had a big purge and now its pretty clean. The online echo chamber is not really reality, on our wow server its never been so busy and our guild is the busiest its ever been since tbc.

Its true, many "refugees" will return "home" when WoW has managed to pick itself up – or until a new patch or expansion comes out. Thats the way of things. But the diehard WoW fans will not leave (or they will leave but wont touch any other game), and part of the rest will give FF14 a try. Some will stay, some wont. Some will find it not to their liking, some will hate it, other will love it. "The" WoW player does not exist. Only players who want to have some fun in the internet with other players, doing what it is they like. Whether they find this in WoW, FF14 or any other game is up to them. With WoW doing so bad however, many "smaller" games have finally a chance to shine – FF14 not least of all. The exposure surely drew attention and the game is growing – but so are others. This situation is pretty much a revival for the MMORPG genre and I dont believe that WoW can remain the titan it was – only one among many (if they manage to get things rolling again to get part of their playerbase back that is…).

  7. I'm WoW refugee going on 3 months in Eorzea. Finished all MSQ and so psyched to backtrack through all the raids, ARs, and all the other non-msq stuff.

    … and level other jobs.
… and hang with an fc.

…. shine ain't wearing off. Good game is good.

  8. Ever since D3 I knew I would never give Blizzard money for any newly released game. If the game is good it'll last and then I'll think about it but even a game like D2 which I played thousands of hours back in the day I have zero desire to jump into again no matter how pretty they make it because it'll still be the same crap to do in game and that will lose its appeal quick.

  9. FF 14 is my main MMO but I also play ESO. WoW refugees should give the other MMOs a shot too (GW2, SWTOR, ESO etc)Their formula differs from the tab target style but they may like them if they give them a shot.

  10. As someone who was a huge Blizzard fan since Warcraft: Orcs and Humans I really wish that Blizzard can turn this ship around and be a decent company that respects everyone who works there and at the same time respects the long standing lore in not just World of Warcraft but all of their IPs.

But I don't have all that much faith in them at this point.
