Confession I started playing scholar recently to level summoner for its upcoming change but I ended up loving scholar

The problem wasn't Expedient, that's a very cool ability, it's the gripes that Scholars have been pointing out for a while and it feels like all of it falls on deaf ears.
Scholar has a lot of problems. It's clunky. You can't use Aetherpact when you use summon Seraph. You can't use any fairy skills when you use dissipation, and not to mention the mess that the Aetherflow system is, with Energy Drain making the problem even worse. You also can't get any fairy gauge when dissipation is in effect. Your own skills lock you out of the others, the fairy still prioritizes movement over casting, it's all a bunch of minor annoyances that stack up and make the scholars as frustrated as they are.

The ascetic of Sage does it for me. On the flipside Scholar does the least for me. If the glamour of the pet was better that might change, though I don't have a minion out at any time.

I think there were some issues about scholar that people wanted to see talked about or attempted to be addressed like a difference between eos and Selene or changing dissipation, but those aspects about scholar were not changed and that’s what bothers me more about scholar. They also did scholar dirty during the live letter and job action trailer but whatever I’m over it. 😂
Your discussion on magic names here really made me wish someone asked Yoshi-P about an FFXI Classic given WoW classic’s success, XIV’s and Yoshi-P’s success. An XI classic with Yoshi-P at the helm would be a dream come true to me and I think there would be a great base for it. I’m still hopeful for the 20th anniversary.
Thin Air change will be so bad… it’s funny that they tried to defend it but then Larry mumbled into the realization of exactly why it’s bad before continuing to defend it. It’s bad because the MP management limitation it will bring is exponential to how much it saves currently. The change to Presence of Mind only exacerbates the MP generation loss here. Not only will PoM be off cooldown more frequently, but it now, for the first time, lines up with the raid buff window ensuring that no good WHM will want to waste a single cast within it. Yes, your glare mages are going to be out of MP unless they meld that awful Piety stat.
SCH will have a nice, interesting utility with Expedient’s sprint effect—which should really just have been a change to Peloton making it accessible to an entire role if we’re honest—but without its own version of Lilybell/Macrocosmos/Panhaima which all heal based on received damage, SCH feels like it’s going to fall behind in healing.
AST is receiving 3 heals (Macrocosmos, Lady, Exaltation) and 2 attacks (Lord, Macrocosmos) before we even mention the upgrades to Malefic and Gravity, and all this while keeping Neutral Sect and having a free Divination. AST is still going to be OP whether you’re lucky with Astrodyne seals or not. Not only that, but the buff for getting all three seals is a slap in the face to WHM—AST is basically getting Cleric Stance—and for two seals, it’s a slap in the face to SCH by stealing old Fey Wind.
As for SGE, we’ll see.

The way i used thin air (WHM main) was using it alongside lucid dreaming after the first dia refresh to regenerate my mp bar, then to use both skills on cooldown afterward. Sad I'll have to change that, but it is what it is 😪

Personally I hope the sage keeps the out of combat recharge of the stacks because sch still has the cool down going out of combat for theirs. It's not so bad on the whm because not as much of their kit is locked behind it like the barrier healers
For me, the reason that SCH looks boring is because it seems like it will be almost the same gameplay that we've been playing for the last 2 years.
Something new will always attract attention at first.
But we'll probably see the endgame meta finding good use for SCH over SGE and vice versa.
As a WHM main for years, I'm not at all pleased about the thin air change. Suppose I'll try out Sage, but holy heck, that was not a fun reveal. :'D
Im hearing the same all the time: the new SCH skill it will be really good, think on all the savage fights you can use it…. Im thinking: do you notice that is a LV90 SKILL RIGHT? no use on old fights, if not unsync.
Question that's always bothered me, was there actually annoying wrong with Joe Eos and a Selene were setup before they got stripped? Seems like they could've leaned into it to encourage fairy switching to coincide with his mechanics, Selene for DPS burst phases and Eos for boss tank busters and AoE's.

Content creators – SCH players are doom and gloom because SCH did not get something shiny and cool looking.
Every SCH player I know – This class is clunky and jank and feels bad to play. Insert detailed explanation on why.
Me, an AST player – lol why does SCH have a button that literally disables its main attraction for 30s?
But Critical Hit is obscenely broken as a stat so people suffer through it because Chain Strategem exists.
I am used to White Mage because I leveled it in Shadowbringers with my FC's help! I want to try Sage because it is the new job but my Scholar is lvl 80 because of Summoner! I still do not understand why Scholars have two fairies still! In the beginning it made sense because they both did different things but now they are exactly the same other than looks! I wanted Scholar to change more but not like Summoner but that is just me! Also did Square change the job questlines while leveling because they currently still use skills during it that we no longer have across all jobs! I love the job questlines, I just wish they went all the way to 90! But I know the Role questlines do that now which makes sense! I wish all Healers had a higher end personal Phoenix Down spell with a 3-5 minute cooldown so it is not abused! That way others Healers don't have to stress on reviving other Healers or the Tank! Just my thoughts! Great Vid!
For me, it's not the lack of a new flashy ability for Scholar but the lack of changes to OLD abilities or steps towards resolving previous issues that disappointed me.
The Seraph/Faerie Gauge/Dissipation interaction, or lack thereof, the lack of something besides Energy Drain and Chain Stratagem to help break up the Broil spam where AST at least has things like Lord of Crowns and Macrosomos now to go along with Earthly Star. I guess we at least have Ruin 2?
The lack of distinction between Eos and Selene is the other source of dissonance I have, so I would like to see some kind of change there. However, I think your suggestion for Selene to have Embrace shields would just make her into Seraph since heal+shield is what Seraphic Veil does. On top of that, the job quest text talk about how Eos "Soothes and Shields" while Selene "Silences and Strengthens". So I think some implementation of Heal/Shield for Eos and Buff/Debuff for Selene would be more appropriate from a flavor perspective.
I don't think Scholar needs massive buffs or anything, but some tactical changes to make the kit more interactive with itself and more engaging is what I was hoping for.
My issue with scholar is a lack of new gauge spenders. In fact, they removed one – Fae Blessing doesn't cost gauge anymore, leaving Fae Union, which is nowhere near enough to drain all of your gauge.
I'm hopeful they'll take a second look at scholar later on, since they were probably busy with Reaper, Sage, Summoner, and Monk.
I think the Holy 3 thing is actually a reference to how the word is used in the Bible. Usually, the word is either used once (Holy Bible, Holy Spirit, He Most Holy, etc), or three times in succession (Holy Holy Holy is His name). It's rarely if ever used only twice, so that might be why they skipped Holy 2. The rest of WHM's spells would follow suit to keep the theme.
I never played healer, but I'll pick up Sage. Just to spite people I'll actually learn to play using Trusts before running dungeons with players, just to spite them =P
There's actually already an easter egg in Great Gubal Library (Hard) about the spell naming convention iirc
I’m not trying to say this in a mean way but please switch to keyboard if you need 3 months to make a good controller cross hotbar… you really make it seem like controller players need months to get a good set up for some jobs. It takes me a few hours and as I play I can change things depending on my muscle memory. It doesn’t take 3 months just a few hours to get a good set up if you understand the way the game/job works.
Just waiting for a forced march mechanic for the sch combat sprint ^-^
