Seriously, the lessons of XIV could be transformational to World of Warcraft. We want both games to shine, and learning is the way it’ll happen.

My friends and i really like raiding/m+ and combat in WoW but everytime we try to play it, we are prompted with dozens of unfun and secondary contents that we have to do before experiencing even the normal modes of raids due to everything being tied to player power.
I mean i dont want to get everything for free but being able to form a small group of 8 ppl and just jump into new content in FFXIV to chase some gear w/o needing to farm renown or reps feels much better to me. On the other side of the river forming a 20man group and clearing at least 3 or 4 bosses or joining a M+ with no quitters after a wipe or a bad pull its almost impossible. Now imagine if you're alliance.
That little dance fight you showed from WOW reminds me of the falling section in Byakko from the absolutely delightful Four Lords trials in FFXIV. I’ve heard a lot from friends who are WOW refugees, about just how burdensome raiding can be. Four Lords is just pure fun in terms of fight design and comedy, with a little bit of emotional stabbing. I really hope WOW players will get to experience moments of just pure, giggle-inducing fun.
3 or 4 maybe 5 Boss Raids is the best cut the Damn thing in half.
I don't really like the graphics of FFXIV from what I've seen so I hope they just don't go and try to copy that
WoW, and Blizzard itself, needs to go off in a corner and die.
How many times are you going to make the same video over and over again, until you open your eyes and accept the truth, Bellular? Game is dead, company is criminal and dead. Don't let nostalgia waste your time, no matter how much you force yourself to try to "enjoy" the game, listen to the same old songs while playing, it won't take you back in time. WoW was a product of it's time, it will never be the same again, and why is that? because the lore is ruined, unsavable, there is too much bloating in the game, the rarest rewards in the game feels arbitrary and not special, and the company is too hated, not to mention the obvious fact that it's a bad game, it was insane for it's time, back in the days, like…truly insane, truly truly dopamine-inducing madness kind of insane, but now? It would take more than 4 expansions to just get to the content level of Final Fantasy XIV, and content is not the only thing that needs to be improved.
One of the biggest advantages of FFXIV still has to be the way they handle alt jobs, you can play everything on a single character and that means you can unlock things ONCE and have them unlocked for the rest of that characters playthrough. It honestly gets rid of so many annoying situations WoW has where you have to keep track of what character has what unlocked and having to repeat the same content over and over. Furthermore it helps sell that feeling that your are playing as your chosen character that much more imo.
Implementing this system in WoW with the same sort of elegance would be absolutely a massive undertaking, and I think it will never happen due to it just being different for so very long but it is the superior way of handling things. But having one time unlocks being shared across characters would be a step in the right direction I think.
Not going to happen – Blizzard/Activision CEOs, game designers, game developers are getting paid too much to smell their own brain farts. Too bad. I'd rather play FFIV.
Blizzard really needs to watch this video and listen to their fans!
Stop making players have to purchase novels outside the game to be able to understand the narrative going on in game. The game should stand on its own as a story without people needing to buy books in order to 'get it'. Supplement lore books and explorations of things that aren't the main path of the game/expac are fine, but making players buy books just to understand the main arc is an obvious cash grab.
Everything u have said is 100% and why I am having a melt down where neither FF nor WOW is fully satisfying and worth my time investment leaving me with pretty much nothing to play 🙁 AGHHHHHH WE need a Satisfying game where crafting / gathering matters / a player housing / deep content story / Satisfying challenge overworld RPG content with Dungons and Raids that take actual effrot and force people to work as a unit … WHY is asking for that too much for the DEVs..
FFXIV players (especially Veterans) simply know what to expect each patch;
> Plenty of story per patch (With .5's being split in two with first part in .5 and 2nd in .55, as to allow time for expansion development)
> Normal and Savage Raid wing (with increased item level) every even patch;
> Alliance raid and ways to catch up in item level every odd patch.
> Every patch has a new dungeon and extreme trial. Expansion (.0) has 5 trials in msq (3 normal and 2 extreme), x.1 has 3rd normal msq trial (from .0) as an extreme, x.2 starts a new trial series (1st boss of it as normal and extreme), x.3 tends to have a new MSQ-related trial (norm + ex), x.4 is part 2 of trial series (norm + ex), x.5 is part 3 of trial series (norm+ex).
> In the past 2 expansions there has also been an extra trial or fight related to other content too, Stormblood (4.0) had Great Hunt (Ex and Normal) with their collab with Monster Hunter, Shadowbringers has Memora Misera (extreme only, normal is a solo instance duty with npc allies) linked to the reoccuring relic series
> About half way through an expansion (sometimes earlier) we get a new Relic Weapon series (for those who like to grind for a flashy weapon which becomes best in slot at the end of the expansion)
> Ultimate fights aren't set in stone, they seem to want to do 2 an expansion, think its like 5% of all players who attempt it (requiring them to beat the hardest savage content when it released) so its never super high on their to do list since it requires a bunch of testing but they do it anyway for the people who want them.
> Extra content (one or two of these each patch): Side quests (eg Hildebrand), Side content (Island Sanctuary), Gold Saucer Updates (new items/GATEs/feature)
> QoL updates, they are usually minor things, some being bigger things you appreciate
WoW is a service game Bell, get that in your head and stop believing WoW is somehwhat of an MMO.
Change LFR to just boss fights could be a lighter fix that wouldn't necessarily take as much work
nothin is gunna fix wow, its already been trashed. You can't come back from that unless they completely retcon the lore, and thats going to leave a bad taste as well.
Just give up on it, its dead. It died a long time ago. We gotta move on.
Im hoping this new DreamHaven company turns out well
wow does not need saving, they keep earning more with each patch, with less effort. Players need saving, stop playing that garbage
If they also reduce the complexity of raid fights they could then pump out more raids for expansions. Re-use assets and give slight things for players to do and have fun. Not everything has to give competitive gear. It could be placed in that gives gear on par to the previous raid gear. So the gear doesn't replace the other but give them unique stuff that might make it worth while to get for some people. Also make "ketchup" gear from world content the same as heroic dungeon gear. This will make it so people can run straight through quests and then immediately start raiding by doing the previous tiers and more recent parallel raids that I mentioned
Doesn't anyone remember when Blizzard tried to SLOW down their combat system with BFA? And the changes that came in Shadowlands that were meant to slow down the gameplay again?
Sooner or later, I feel like Blizzard will screw up the one thing that keeps people in their game playing and that's their Combat system. They've been doing a wonderful job so far, with the GCD changes and the AOE Cap changes. Though they did revert the AOE Cap changes, thankfully. I have a feeling if people didn't bitch so much about that, they would have kept it in. Aka if Shadowlands did extremely well, you would be seeing Activision Blizzard actively sabotaging themselves to lose subs with slowing their combat system.
Aka, I feel the next expansion will be increasing the GCD timer.
If only there was a game that had everything you mentioned already implemented. Oh wait, there is one! I've been playing wow since 2004 and i can't really understand why people still care about it. Blizzard has been milking us and screwing us over for 2 decades. I am glad that FFXIV exists and it's a fun game and i no longer care about wow. This video was so cringe that it made me unsubscribe and ignore the channel. Using the viewers nostalgia to increase your view and subscribers count is not a nice thing, Bellular.
I would like to see new good games than trying to revive an agonizing dying one like WOW.
FF14 is a dumpster fire lol and it was only popular for 6 months it is back to where it should be… dead. When it was "popular" it only had slightly over wows worse numbers. What they need to learn from is all the devs that no longer work there anymore that knew how to make a good game. They should draw from classic through wotlk and make the game competitive and team oriented again. There is no gating so the seasonal loot grind is all there can be after they killed progression with LFR. Look at the logs bro 3x more people raid in wow. The raiding in ff14 is just as much of a joke as wow is with lfr you are suggesting they just break wow in a different way. Lastly all of you ignorant twits parrot the same thing about classes when if you were not casuals you would know you need to level alts in ff14 to so you can avoid lock outs.
I think overall the game lacks insentives. No incentive for rated BG, standard BG, no fun cosmetic items, holiday events turned to total crap, no partnership or crossover raids from other franchises to bring in new players. Its the truth, they need to learn from FFXIV and grow. It feels almost like Blizz cant drop their ego and understand they are no longer the big fish in the pond. The PVP gearing system absolutely sucks, I dont want to be forced to do Arena because I cannot get Conquest via BGs and no one does rated BG's. Its just depressing
Wow will never be fixed, mark my words.
timewalking across the entire game? yes please! each week, we should be able to queue into an older raid, like onyxia, scaled up (pun intended)
player housing? yes please! wildstar had amazing player housing. for wow I would like something in between wildstar, skyrim, the sims, and FF14. I want trophy cases, armor and weapon racks, places where you can show off a screenshot you have taken, etc. as well as sprinkle collectible furniture (and a NPC you can trade resources to, to purchase collections of furniture).
tl;dr: make WoW be like FFXIV
See people are still deluding themselves that there is any real talent and passion left at the husk of blizzard. All those people have jumped ship, it's just blizzard in name alone.
World of WarCraft Shadowlands. No DeathKnight type Greenfire quest line. Real missed opportunity.
I dont want wow to be safed. The company needs to reinvent themselves and create something new.
Stop showing FF game play…more players will quit wow 😁
I believe one of the game’s main issues is their underutilization of the majority of the game world.
They’ve made a little headway with this through timewalking but they should go much further and have the events occur more often. They still don’t utilize their old dungeons and raids very well. TW needs a better rotation of dungeons instead of the same few over and over.
Old raids also need more love. In FFXIV some of the old raids have “challenge modes” that scale you down, still require coordination and have rewards that are still prestigious years later. They’re also available at anytime not just a few weeks out of the year.
They should also rotate some some active PvE and PvP events in each expansion’s zones for 1-2 weeks. For PvP have them reward a chunk of conquest and honor.
Finally they could go above and beyond and finally add real housing. Even if it was just Garrison’s for guilds with more customization, active optional PvP assaults on eachother’s structures, maybe the ability to battle for prime real estate and losers keep their building but are just forced to move it elsewhere. Like a bragging rights thing.
There’s so much they could do with this game to make it shine again. My expectations are low but the possibilities are there.
Wow is dead, there is no way to save him anymore. Like a person whose life is limited in time. It's time to stop now.
I used to play WoW ages ago, and here's the dirty secret about why I continue to follow WoW content:
I want it to be good.
That's really it. I had to evaluate why I was so interested in WoW and the real reason is just simply, I want it to be good. I've wanted to come over and explore the game, and the lore (that hasn't been ravaged by the current arc). I want to experience the class mechanics and I want to see the cool raids. But every time I watch a video, I'm more convinced that it's not the time yet.
I want to enjoy it and appreciate it and see it thrive, for its own sake, not just because I want strong competition for my favorite game, FFXIV.
So I'll continue to hold out hope that they'll find their way. But it's going to require humility, and it's going to require confronting some hard truths about how their chosen path has harmed their community.
I dunno if this is a good or bad thing but I kinda noticed that zereth mortis soundtrack is quite similar to the ones of ff14
Yoshi P. did say in a Live Letter somewhere between after ShadowBrings came out and before ShadowLands came out that he would like to do a crossover for FFXIV and WoW.
Stop Riding a Dead Horse, Wow will not get good enough to keep new players playing it or even to get new players into ther system,
Why you think ? Because it is not just "Copy that from Final Fantasy".
The whole world, Of warcraft is dying.
Because Blizzard gave a Fuck about expanding it.
Because The Original Creators of WoW left the company with anger many years ago.
Because WoW need to be burned and recreated as Square Enix did it with FF14 (Sorry to tell you that but i dont think this will happen for WoW).
Because the Dream of warcraft is over (not yet for sure not yet) but in any years WoW will be dead.
Because Final Fantasy 14 will be over too maybe in 5 years or maybe in 25 years, but there is no Game that will be there forever.
But i am 100% sure if Square Enix will do what they did before they will make FF18 or FF19 a MMorpg because if i understand it right FF20 will be the last Final Fantasy and it is just me speculating because i was never thinking that Activision will take over Blizzard some day, i was not thinking that in 2022 someone is still palying WoW.
World of Warcraft is not a bad game, but it does not bring me the memorys back i had back then when i was playing it and the story of warcraft is over, the people who made the warcraft universe are not there anymore.
You can not bring the same feelings back to warcraft that you had 5 or 15 years ago, it is not possible, because yourself changed and the world was never developed.
WoW was A Explore me World, it is not working anymore because Story was never anything that the game was focusing.
Games improve over time, but are they good enough ? We saw it on New world, you need just more then good graphic's and music and story to keep new players over time.
If you dont get it what i am saying, will you paly the New COD game that will come out in any years or will you paly COD 2 when they bring a DLC for that game with the same graphic same engine and everything same just a new map/s.
The hardcore COD core fans will play the game but new people will play other games instead of a old fps game that they never touched (most of the new players play fortnite and Apex nowdays).
Keep the Good memorys and keep going, maybe there will be in any years a new Warcraft game, maybe the game franchise will die but stop wasting your life time to keep something alive that is too old and was never ment to get bigger.
And please do everyone around you a favor and stop complaining WoW with other games if you ever start a new MMORPG because the new games are not WoW and they dont want to be WoW, they are ther own games and you will not have any fun in them when you try to find your new WoW in a new MMORPG.
The moment they stopped copy the work of really creative people they started to get lost.
They never had those people, they never will have.
That isn't just the case in the story/lore.
