  1. I understand not wanting to rush things but in terms of story, things dont really heat up til heavensward. Its like continuing to eat the free rolls after the entree arrives, like why deprive yourself?

  2. I started less than month ago, I got plenty of free time to kill and I'm nearing 300 hours and I just got past Susano in Stormblood, lv. 68 ninja (with faffing about leveling paladin first to lv 32 before switching) and I think if I keep the pace up, I'll be ready for Endwalker with couple weeks to a month of free time. That's with binging, but doing quite a bit of miscellaneous stuff at a side.

  3. Oh man, I wish more people played with Japanese sound… it is just miles better than English. I don't know if the actors weren't given good direction or maybe not enough time but… it's like the difference between a fan project and the original work. And it's too bad because some of the English voice actors for ARR are god tier actors. But it never comes together as well as the Japanese version.

  4. There's plenty of video tutorials on how to set up a controller for extended buttons and you get used to cycling to them. It's not very difficult and becomes second nature. I thought by now someone would have told Bellular about all that, there's no reason for him not to continue to play on controller since it's been proven that you can do all content with one.

Edit: also as a SAM main, you kit yourself for 2.07 GCD with skillspeed and it's a non-issue on controller; I can't imagine NINs having a tough time with it either

  5. As someone who has played this game for 8 years now and have played all classes to some degree, have all of them at level cap, and have played many extensively, I cannot tell you half the ability names.
I know what they do and how they function. But I dunno what they're called.
Especially Samurai. No way I'm ever remembering any of those names.

  6. Definitely look into the W Cross Hotbar setting options. There's a ton you can do with the controller to make it really versatile. Honestly you can probably have more skills easily accessible to you on a controller than you can in most keyboard layouts.

  7. If you haven't yet, I'd suggest checking out the lyric music video for the Good King Moggle Mog fight, it gets annoying after a million fights, but the lyrics are pretty excellently written imo.

Just got armor crush myself, and wow, it's like a whole new world.

  8. I hope you discover expanded cross hotbar settings. There are more than enough hot keys on controller for ffxiv. Quick tab enemies by holding R2 and pressing R1 and L1, party members by pressing d pad up and down, enmity list with L1+ dpad up and down and alliance members with L1 + dpad left and right (alliance targetting admittedly the most awkward thing on controller.)

  9. I like NIN, but it is definitely a taxing job. It's better than where it was before, but it's still up there as one of the most difficult to play without mistake compared to all the other DPS. MCH is… well, it's like NIN in the sense that you don't have to worry about procs, it's just a static rotation. Again, like NIN, it does have a lot to press and, at least when I last played it, extremely dependent on your ping to perform optimally. You'll fall behind rather noticeably to other MCH if you can't keep up due to connection. RDMs pretty simple and highly mobile. I hear DNC is the easiest of them all though.

  10. the thing about the good king moogle mog patch, and why it feels "meh", is that when they were developing that patch leviathan was supposed to be in it, not mog, but then the 9.2 earthquake north east of tokyo bay hit, followed by a tsunami that devastated the country. yoshi-p decided it would be incredibly tone-deaf to release leviathan, a monster that attacks by creating huge tidal waves, after the real tsunami that killed so many people.

they scrambled to create something else instead and the rushed state of the mog fight was palpable when it came out. it was also understandable so not many people got angry at them.

remembering these things is important i think. you know, the context.

  11. Please, please, PLEASE, someone tell him you can expand your controller hotbars to give you more than enough slots using L2 > R2 or R2 >L2 shortcuts, and also double clicking L2 or R2. There is no job that can't comfortably fit their entire kit onto the controller.
