I had this guy in my FC that was skipping cutscenes. He was really into the social aspects of the game, not so much actually playing. So, as you would expect, he was always complaining about the slog. But I still helped him with dungeons and trials. While running thru the final stretch of Stormblood, we're talking about the story situation and characters, and this guy says to me, "as long as Minfilia is ok"…

Nah your first take was correct
Started it last year with the same mindset. Did every yellow quest in limsa lominsa and got frustrated by the time I hit lvl 12. Quit out and uninstalled. The friend who roped me into it told me to only do msq and ignore the yellow quests… 7 months later I am so fucking happy I took his advice, because this game is so much fun and highly enjoyable.
he was right tho, reading quest text is boring i wish so much more was voice acted.
