  1. There is a YT by the name of Josh Strife Hayes who made a video titled, "Should you play Final Fantasy 14 in 2021?". That one video made me try out FFXIV, the trial version. And within 2 weeks or less, I became a fan and subbed before my trial ended. I am loving it so far, my heart broke somewhere in 'A Realm Reborn'. Anyways, this same YT also made two more videos titled, "So Asmongold tried FF14 (The Problem with Streaming MMO's)" and his latest video "Has Final Fantasy 14 Killed World of Warcraft?". Why am I sharing these videos? Because he specializes in MMORPGs (like a lot) and he made good points in his videos. As far as this video goes, I agree that when you tag along with streamers online and purposely 'troll' or just joke around, you do impede that streamer's joy of a game, especially if it's their first time in that MMORPG. (yes, I know they put themselves on the spot when they play said games)

  2. I can't see Asmon losing his cool in content. Can you imagine the sort of idiocy he has to deal with every minute of every day? The dude must be a zen master. He's a gamer, he'll clear the content.

  3. 6:30…. these people should still know that this is wrong when there's 50k players surrounding him. They are still to blame. I firmly believe well over half of these griefers were from the FF community.

  4. Who is to blame here – the rioter or the person who incites the riot? Asmon would have known, prior to accessing the game, that he was going to be stream sniped. That much should be pretty obvious to anyone who watched the stream. Did the sniping marr his experience? No, by streaming the game and making his character name and server public, he knew he'd be followed in-game so baning people for doing exactly what he was expecting is wrong. HE should have been reprimanded for his, and his followers, impact on the server for those players with existing characters on Cactuar.

  5. Asmongold is a pretty toxic player for the games he's played long term. He also used to knock ffxiv a lot in his streams. Now while I never condone bad behavior from any player, he did invite it.

  6. I don't mean to be a dick, but Asmongold is not exactly innocent himself. He used to mess with looking for group raids on WoW. He is kind of an ass. Not that what they did was okay, but when you fuck mess with people be prepared to be messed with as well.

  8. You say that tanks never limit break…but there is that ONE time in Shadowbringers where they actually have to or the party wipes…that said you are correct, there are so very few instances where tanks ever get the opportunity.

  9. I love how every time someone tries to claim FF14 has a "good community" they have to do some verbal gymnastics.
    It's a patently false statement.
FF14's community sounds and looks good from the outside- cause everyone compares it to their own highly toxic communities.
FF14's high-end community is as toxic if not more so than any other game's. Their low-end to casual communities are either fanatical in their desire- nay, demand- for everyone to "be nice" OR they're … just as toxic as general communities elsewhere.
Are they better than some others? Yes.
Are they worse than some others? Very much yes.

  11. Asmongold is ALWAYS talking negative about WoW/Blizzard in his streams. Maybe part of the FFXIV community knew that and didn't want him to start streaming FFXIV videos other than that one, so they were doing what they could to annoy him and deter him from wanting to stream more on FFXIV. Would you he happy if Asmongold started playing more FFXIV, streaming, and then starts bringing the negativity about everything he hates about the game?

  12. The only thing that has put me off from switching is the weird subscription service. What I mean is do I buy it through steam or through the actual S/E store, and use their game platform? There is a problem of conflicting accounts causing errors. And when there is money involved its juuuust a bit an issue. Asmon had to buy the game twice because of this. I have also seen the same comments within YouTube and steam itself talking about this problem. If they want more people to play it has to be more streamlined.

  13. I came to final fantasy a couple month ago to get away from the wow community, I've been having a good time without the overly toxic wow community. I when I saw that he was coming to ff14 I had mixed feelings about it I liked the idea of more people coming to the game but I am still worried it will drag toxic players to the game. Hopefully SE keeps an eye out theyre gonna be busy.

  14. I find it hilarious how people like Xy the Snowflake Queen can have such glaring double standards.

She dead-ass tweeted that Asmongold is toxic and that her followers (and any "decent" FF14 players) should mass-report him until he's removed from the game.

I've met a lot of terrible people online. From the ones that just don't care to ones that legitimately go out of their way to make your experience worse because that's what tickles their fancy…
But the absolute worst, the most toxic garbage of the internet are the people that decide to take time out of their day to play gatekeeper and intentionally harass others out of a community. Any community.
The reason for that is simple: because once you're kicked out, you can't actually turn over a new leaf. It's pretty hard to improve yourself and make up for your mess-ups if some giant douche canoe decided to rally a bunch of toadies and hound you out of the community for good.

People like that are neither wanted or needed, they're a blight on any community because communities are already self-regulating.
If nobody liked Asmongold and he was a genuine piece of poop, they'd simply refuse to interact with him and he'd eventually get the message and either shape up or leave. It's that simple.

The reason that wastes of oxygen like her are agitating like this is because the situation is completely reversed. Asmongold ISN'T hated. People do not dislike him to the point where he's a genuine detriment to their gaming experience and Xy and her ilk can't stand that.
They want to excise him because he's not caving to their peer pressure and playing ball with their ideology.

  15. Jackass players in WoW do the same thing with their mounts. You would think people would be happy that Asmondgold is exposing FF14 to an entirely new audience. There are Asshats in every game. It's what happens when people can behave badly in nearly complete anonymity. First game to learn that was Ultima Online back in 1997.

  16. The clown developer at blizzard who called him an a$$hole should be fired. He’s literally ejecting players from WoW with crap like that. His boss should be posting his position if it hasn’t happened already.

  17. "flexing" is fine in my mind. Makes me wanna work all the harder to get what other's have that i dont. Also, you nailed the "tryhard" mindset. I play games wanting to exceed and win and get called "toxic" when i make a suggestions (politely i might ad) to guarantee better outcome or a W.

  18. Its as Asmon says, its intellectual disshonesty when people complain getting banned and use the arguement "What if someone just happened to run by on a fat chocobo, would they get banned then too huh?" there's a thing called common sense and actually reviewing what happened. Did the fat chocobo follow Asmon around, sit on the NPC and spam obnoxious music? Chances are he did it specifically to piss off Asmon, sometimes you gotta read the writing thats on the wall.

  19. Even if they didn't get banned or had any actions taken unto their account I really do wish ppl who intentionally wanted to ruin his time actually do feel some sort of remorse now that they can clearly see how much of an effort he is putting into having a good time with the game.
