  1. Very nice break down and inclusion! You forgot to mention that Yin Yang from the Shinra Manor are also included in some dungeons. They are minor enemies but still a strong direct reference.

  2. Except Sefirot IS a reference to Sephiroth. Well, kind of. Tetsuya Nomura was an enemy designer on FF6 and a character designer/enemy designer on FF7. He also had significant input on the story of FF7. Hironobu Sakaguchi himself assigned Nomura in his role for FF7 after seeing Nomura's suggestion for how the main characters should look as well as a rudimentary sketch for how the new Limit Break system should work during a company brainstorming session. Nomura thought back to his marketing classes in college and included pictures in his suggestion as it would catch the eye.

I digress, he designed both The Fiend from FF6 and Sephiroth from FF7. Nomura's original concept art listed The Fiend's name as セフィロス, Sefirot, Sefiros, or Sephiroth depending how you transliterate it. The Fiend in FF14 is now 魔神セフィロト, Majin Sefirot while Sephiroth retains セフィロス to avoid confusion in both Japanese and English.

The Tiny Bronco is also Biggs and Wedge's crashed vehicle in FF14 which is reference to the plane of the same name from FF7. The golden statue of Hildibrand's father in the Gold Saucer is also a reference to Dio from FF7.

  3. The Ascians wear black robes, are numbered, and are trying to bring about a "Reunion" of the shards to the source similar to the black robed experiments in FF7.

Also, there are 7 actual heavens in FFXIV where the 12 gods reside.
