1.0 may have been buggy, but 2.0 was braindead horse shit. Basically, FFXIV wasn't considered "good" by any stretch until Heavensward/3.0 came around.
It would be exponentially easier to play both if WoW wasn’t such a grind with daily quests & useless distractions like garrisons, pet battles, recycled BGs(Wintergrasp), covenant bullshit, cross realm retardation, etc etc.
Bruh you know how weird it is seeing that thumbnail when you was in that group? Blast from the past… idk how I feel dragging up those memories since they didn't end happily lol… also how'd the editor find the image is it now just floating around google >.>
Hope he will actually playing the game instead of just reacting to video
boosting and going straight into savage or ultimate is a horrible idea
Today I learned that they need to add a skylift up Mt. Everest and put a Taco Bell up at the top. 😉
Asmon's spiel near the beginning sums it up so well. WoW players are basically in an abusive relationship where their perspective is fucked up. They measure improvements relative to WoW as opposed to measuring it against innovations in gaming and MMOs at large.
I played FF14 on release, I played ARR and I can tell you it was fucking awful. I went right back to WoW and FF11 cause the game was dog shit and yes, I played BOTH!
When I came back in BFA to try WoW for the last time, it took weeks to get caught up to Jaina raid tier. The heart of Azeroth essences was the worst fucking experience ever in an MMO. Raising fish boys with dailies behind a time gated system was actually soul crushing.
I feel WoW lacks the resources to do that many raid fights with each raid and do other content. It feels they only make one type of content outside of raid and stretch it as much as possible, and put power in there to force everyone i. The current dev team is kinda screwed with how the game been running with throwing old content behind and all that. Hope the microsoft money will help but who knows if anything will change there. Maybe when they can manage to catch up to current mmo market I'll give the game an honest shot. Only time I played it was years ago, downloaded the free trial and quit at lvl 5.Maybe when they can manage to catch up to current mmo market I'll give the game an honest shot. While I'm not one boast about having my time wasted, a prime example of when it took a long time to level – and it felt meaningful to me – was during Cataclysm. I liked how it was only 5 levels and it took a good amount of time. Cata was when I felt that player power to enemy was actually good and a justifiable challenge. It was hard but not impossible and felt good. This is exactly how I felt in SHB during those dungeons, they were hard, but you were quick to learn and just got back into it.
Lmao, still playing Tibia. Don't die, or you'll lose a shitload of experience, skills and it costs a fortune xD
please someone bring up Champions return to arms 2 too asmon. it was fantastic for its time. it was similar to diablo and poe
Wow the ffxiv community is just great. I went into this comment section to find the comment that pointed out the "uwu" nature of the thumbnail and upvote it because I'm a degenerate, but all I found was people talking with others about their experiences with when they started ffxiv, or comparing their experiences of WoW to ffxiv, or just talking about how much they love ffxiv and asmongold.
Kind of a beautiful thing to see really.
It's interesting to me to see how the zackrawrr channel's chat is so different from the Asmongold chat now. There's so many people shit talking ff14 any time it's brought up and just being more toxic in general. It really reminds me of his chat from before he tried ff14.
If you dont like huge 200+hrs story driven sexy skimpy in your face on steroids games without any america wokeness BS. FF14 is not the game for you.
runescape takes a very very long time to max and i have a max ironman
I think ff4 does alot of things right, the tab targeting Combat and combos, the classes, the Bosses, the music, the lore of the world and its characters, the cutscenes….
HOWEVER
I think the game has a bunch of flaws that people just don't talk about or ignore…
Like the overworld is so barebones when it comes to meaningful progression, the currency is also quite useless, aswell as there being alot of dead content when it comes to the resources and how alot of resources effectively have no real value…
Trading is nonexistent and the marketboard is awful to use that it discourages you from ever engaging with it.
Basically outside of instanced content, the game discourages any meaningful progress and interaction with other players, outside of just fucking about and rping while waiting for your que pop.
I mean the resources are instanced… So it's like you're playing a single player game when in the overworld.
Also making all the story content stupidly easy is such a bummer aswell.
And don't get me started on doing Dungeon roulettes and getting level scaled to 50 and having all My abilities locked… The level scaling is done in an awful way.
I completed everything up to storm bringer, then realized that i had more or less seen what the game had to offer, leveled multiple jobs too.
27:15 thats true, in ff14 i grinded all mage classes for the title goddes of magic
It would be a surprise if this next XIV special announcement gonna have someone asked about VRMMO for FFXI or XIV plan after 10 more years.
Ppl have questioned couple times now and when you see Zenith beta just launch this week, it does adding something new to the genre wide and FF has massive RP potential if the game get some VR experience for the story and social aspects.
In record, games with exploration and discovery are more easier to convert into VR than achievement and rushing to endgame. It would be nice to see ESO and FF get some first hand experience with VR tech, even SWORT if they find a way to balance out the systems.
Progression should be just skill based and not about how much time spent, with a few exceptions.
fun
Was there a chat delay?
chat: 'SAM player kekw', '20 wipes on titan he just sucks', 'casual trash'
asmon: I agree with him
chat: 'trueeee'
one thing about respeccing i thing needs to return tho is that it needs to be done in a major city, so you're not incentivised to spec swap at every boss, which is the meta in retail.
Ik bdo doesnt have a max level but you can make it to 62 faster than ffxiv msq. Edit:oh he said that right after.
When he said "Season 13" it reminded me of Armor Sprinkles episode from yo boy Darnell
"I'm fine with the grind, but do not make people donit twice" omfg so true. Almost came in my pants imagining that was the case in every mmo I ever played. At least triple xp for alts etc…or alts boosted to where your main is.
I remember coming back for Ninja after quitting at launch. I said, "I really like how the gearing works right now, way better than when I started." someone replied to me in that dungeon, "The game's always been good, go back to WoW."
I still do not like this community.
I enjoy single player games more than MMOs now.
It feels like every game design in modern MMOs is to timegate you. The stories are meh at best.
Single player games have amazing stories and the pace tends to be perfect. You almost never feel like your time is being wasted and you don't feel obligated to play so others don't pass you in strength. You never have to schedule a time to do a raid in a single player game. You never have to wait an hour for people who are late.
Games like Factorio have logistics that no MMO could ever have, it simply wouldn't work in an MMO, and it still allows you to play with your friends.
The best game of all is called "Real Life." Imagine if most wow players put the same effort into building themselves? Learning martial arts, body building, maybe doing things like sluicing for gold in the mountains or building their own house.
Most MMO players are utterly worthless human beings outside their chosen game.
I've played and been subbed since the ARR relaunch because I appreciate not having my time wasted and the dev mentality. FFXIV also has its issues like any game but they don't even compare to any other MMO at the moment since the game is designed to be accessible and fun to its playerbase with them knowing the money will come in naturally as a result.
Even their old systems that were a stupid pain in the butt like the the cross job system were just bad design decisions of "that sounded better in our head" instead of being intentionally made waste time. The devs also act respectful, fun, and friendly while they genuinely listen to feedback and properly distill from what the players say to what we need.
I'm glad FFXIV is finally getting its massive moment in the spotlight since its been growing and improving for years so its 100% deserved
One of the main reasons I play FFXIV over WoW is because of controller support
Lost Ark shts on both :))
I don't think running back to get your corpse is that much of a waste of time. I'd be very against you just respawning where you died, that's too much, but even if WoW did it like FFXIV where you respawn at your home point, you're STILL most likely going to go back to where you died to progress whatever objective you were going for… so where's the wasted time? I honestly think WoW does death at least a bit better than most MMOs, because it also ties in the games lore with the spirit realm and the maelstrom in the sky.
I'm sure there will come a game that does death better than WoW, but I don't think any MMO currently does.
City of Hero's is still my favourite MMO.
in guild wars 1 you could get to max lvl in 3 hours.
Is it me or is the chat delayed from Asmongold's commentary by about 3 or so seconds?
What makes final fantasy 14 a bad MMO, is the lack of exploration. The overall world feels small, the NPC's are pretty boring, the outer world enemy's sucks, and I hate fighting them they don't even drop good weapons or loot, a lot of people are going to tell me to fight fates but let's be real fates are ass and no one in the community likes them. The only reason why the community doesn't talk bad about the game is for the following reasons, they are afraid of getting attacked by the community, or they are just casual players, and they never played a real MMO in their life. A lot of people say 1.0 was a terrible game but I actually think it had the right idea, making a larger zone for the player to explore was a good idea, another good idea was leveling up your weapon skills, black magic, white magic skill, etc. I understand what a lot of you guys are going to say final fantasy 14 1.0 was a failed version of final fantasy 11 and your right it is, hell Square Enix had to take inspiration from wow and other modern MMO, like introducing hot bars, even adopting the non-important fetch quest but did we really need these things? No, we didn't need them final fantasy 11 is still strong using the same macros and battle system. This game has too many issues it caters too much to the casual players and wow fan's and it lacks the final fantasy magic. Final Fantasy 14 has an amazing story and great music, but it lacks exploration and adventure.
