  1. Hey guys! I’m looking for a bit of feedback on this video for how to approach this series in future.

I was toying with how to format this. I want to show the highlights of my MSQ journey in more compact videos here on this main channel, of course the full un-edited VODs will still be available on the VOD channel.

For this episode I just cut up a bunch of footage and edited it in a way that it somewhat tells the story, but I wasn’t sure how much of the quest dialogue I should leave in etc. I left in enough for it to make sense of what I’m doing, but sometimes I feel like the cuts are quite abrupt.

My other idea is to tell the story with a voiceover to kind of bring things together and help move the narrative along, and still have segments of clips showing my live reaction to illustrate how I felt in the moment, but without having to leave in every single piece of dialogue. I will be trying this on the next episode I do in this style so the audience can have one of each to compare.

Let me know your suggestions in the comments here! Oh and apologies for the sound levels, I believe I have fixed them since this recording.

  2. I enjoyed the video, but if you feel like the cuts are very abrupt, you could always look into adding transitions for each one. Whether they're a fade in/out, or a slide right/left/up/down. Not sure what video editing software you use, but that might help!

  3. God, it must be so damn annoying having a gaggle of sycophants following you around and clogging up your screen while you're trying to enjoy a new gaming experience. I'm amazed that these big streamers don't do everything they can to keep their character identities and servers a closely guarded secret.

  4. nice ^^ but you are a Lancer ^^ not a Dragoon yet xd
i love the storyline of that one
Dont know if anyone already told you, but the sidequest rll can wait ^^ you can do them with another class if you want to. Thats the great thing that you can do every job with the same character.

  5. god ywain makes me SO MAD. "did your opponent so unnerve you as to deprive you of your senses?" my guy YOU were the one who JUST gave me a big pretty speech about how being a lancer is all about courage and if you flinch or falter then you're not cut out to be a lancer! did you mean that or didn't you!!!

  6. With regard to quests. Most 'normal quests' with in ARR areas especially, are pretty generic "kill 5 dudes" "collect 10 gizmos" etc and are completely skippable. Some normal quests will have a little image/picture at the start quest page, those will typically be more narrative driven. Any quest that has the Blue Icon with the Plus will be quests that are more involved and will unlock sidequest chains, vendors or even new jobs.

  7. Take this for whatever it's worth. As a player with 2500+ hours.

    I did this.

Follow MSQ picking up all the Blue Marked Quest you come across Other than the quests for other Jobs (classes)

And doing your Class(job) quest every 5 levels.

Side quests are for leveling your other classes later on after the MSQ is finished.

The Blue quests will 9/10 unlock a Feature or Dungeon or some form of gameplay element. Collecting them as you go will help keep you from missing anything critical and keep track of them.

  8. Pfft, false advertising! You're no dragoon, you're a LANCER!

Okay, but in all seriousness, welcome to the game! I hope you have a great time. And someday, perhaps two or three years from now, I hope you'll find yourself at the dizzying heights of Endwalker, looking back at a journey that began with you as a jobbing adventurer hitching a ride into town on a chocobo wagon.

HE HATH DECIDED UPON THE BEST CLASS
Make sure you finish all the drg side quests you can so you can get different heavensward dialog with Estinien
(Edit: youll get a chocobo mount sometime soonish, theyll take a big load off of travel time…and itll save the gil it wouldve taken to teleport a few areas away)

  10. As far as quests go, I'd say keep an eye open for quests with a blue marker. This isn't saying you should pick them up, only that some areas if the game are only accessible by doing the quest associated to that location. As an example, some Duty and Trial missions (Dungeons and Bosses) are only unlockable if you do their respective mission, but most of those come later down the road from where you are now.

  11. The journey of the floor tank begins.

All the fancy words that impressed you so much are due to one Koji Fox, the man responsible for the superb translation and for any nerdy/dirty jokes you notice. He is the best.

  12. As someone that just recently got Dragoon fully leveled it honestly puts a smile on my face seeing people take up their first time with a Lance, and I hope you learn to enjoy it as much Russ, even if it can be a bit of a slow burn depending on how you wish to farm EXP. Really watching your journey along with many other first timers always makes me happy to see those wanting to get immersed.

  13. Also, I would advise holding off on learning too many classes/jobs too early. You’ll spread any obtained rested experience around too thinly, and it will take that much longer to level up later. I went through ARR on Bard and Scholar and picked up Astrologian, Dark Knight and Black Mage in Shadowbringers. Granted…. I don’t like changing things up too much, but it does help you really learn your main jobs the more time you spend with them.
