  1. Nurture always trumps nature. The pope did not raise Aymeric. Transformers! Ishgardians in disguise! The white mage was a champ! This is why FF14 vets will lay the smack down on anyone who makes fun of Haurchefant! I knew this one would be a ride for you.

    Me: oh no…
not just the paladins, though that is the most obvious. the accessories that drop in this expansion all have the house fortemps coat of arms on them, my bf and i being dps mains wear them as a mandatory part of our glamour. bf just has the earrings while i have the earrings, 2 rings, a choker, and a bracelet. sometimes i might switch one or two out for Amaroutine accessories (lvl 80 gear, you'll see why at the end of shadowbringers), but for the most part, i wear that jewelry with every single glamour that is leveled enough to equip them. there's also a housing item portrait of Haurchefant you can buy at…. i think it's your grand company? either that, or one of the tomestones vendors you haven't encountered yet. item is called A Knight to Remember.

  3. Who's gonna tell him that reprisal applies to nearby enemies, not to himself lol. So when he uses reprisal while far away from an enemy, it does absolutely nothing because what reprisal actually does is that it applies a damage reduction debuff to all enemies around him. It does not apply a mitigation buff to himself XD lmaooooo

  4. I remember the Stone Vigil msq line where Haurchefant had to be held down by soldiers not to follow us when he found out we went to Stone Vigil.. then this happened..

  5. It's okay Albz. When I first played the game I had spoiled myself with the fact that Haurchefant dies and was preparing myself… BUT I didn't know how he dies… And when it came, I cried for a solid hour. I stopped playing the game because I just kept on crying and couldn't read the text anymore. It stings even two years later… It doesn't get easier as well.
Welcome to the emotional rollercoaster that is Final Fantasy XIV.

  6. It was even more gut-wrenching back when HW was new. Several people have told me that Haurchefaunt was heavily involved in a large amount of seasonal events during the time of 2.0 to 2.55. Even though I do not have that much of a connection like they did, it still hit me right in the feels, both in the cutscene and the fact I knew it was coming while watching this video.

  7. Something to keep in mind while tanking is that your ranged attack generates enmity, so if you find an enemy attacking your DPS/Healer, it's better to throw your ranged at them rather than to chase after them with AOEs.

  8. As I've said to other reactors who get here, it's almost cruel how much we, as a community, look forward to seeing people react to that scene. But it is one of the rites of passage, and the writers have canonized that scene as one of the most important moments in each of our Warrior of Light's journey.

  9. Thanks for documenting and streaming your playthrough, it's been really nostalgic and enjoyable to go through the story again with you! Without giving away too much, and as a bit of lesser-known trivia: that famous cutscene is actually re-enacted through mechanics in the extreme version of a later trial. Still blows my mind with how good of a job they did with that fight; it's one of my absolute favourites even to this day. Hope you'll get a chance to experience it at some point.

  10. god, i never realized how much being a lala just straight up ruins the mood of these cutscenes. the textures of the facial animations are so much better on the other races, the whole lala thing just ruins the mood. >.<. i remember seeing this the first time on my au'ra and watching the eyes twitch, the lips waver, you felt it so much more, as a lala you just have this goofy look on your face. >.<

  11. A friend had to remind me about the line and i couldn't remember where it came from and he sent me the link and it all came back and hit me like a truck. It still gets me.

To listen to suffer to entrust unto tomorrow

In one fleeting moment from the land doth life flow

Yet in one fleeting moment for the new leaf doth grow

In the same fleeting moment thou must live die and know"

  14. I dunno if anyone has told you already, but this scene hits WAY harder, for me anyway, knowing that in the Japanese version, so I guess the original version of him, he 100% was into the WoL from what I’ve seen of his Japanese lines.

  15. Not trying to criticize here: could you please read a line or two when there's dialogue boxes and they're speaking another language?
    Ascians, dragons, etc?
Those of us on small screens can't read the text, so the first 10 mins if this has been mostly passing me by.
Having to judge what's happening my your occasional remark or the voiced replies of the other characters is kind of bleak, in terms of enjoying the story as it goes.

Thanks either way, new subscriber here. I really enjoy your FF14 streams and YouTube clips.
