#FFXIV #FinalFantasyXIV
I’m playing FFXIV again, especially since the expansion is right around the corner! I’ve missed the savage raid scene, and I feel like I missed out on a lot by streaming my full playthrough of the MSQ and not really playing offline. So, this is COMPLETELY offline and a new series discussing what I like and dislike about the experience without talking to chat and taking my time. If you like the concept, let me know in the comments below!

A lot of good stuff happening for the game, and to think an expansion is yet to come 🙂
Great video, really enjoy your opinion here it's a lot more expertly informed in both games than others I've seen, very valuable stuff thank you.
Hooray! a XIV vid again!
Too much “um.” Just noticed that xD
About the movement, i use legacy but play with a controller. My guess is also that it might be a bit more uncomfortable for a streamer to use a controller when you also need to use the keyboard and mouse for other things.
Love it! Oschon… I think… is pronounced "Aw-shun". It's good that you're catching things that you've missed. Looking forward to watching the series.
I'm a story-driven player so for that alone I prefer the FF14 storyline to GW2 stories however I do enjoy playing GW2 though I feel the quests in the lvl 80 zone in GW are exasperating and difficult to complete if you don't have a group of ppl around due to the sheer volume of mobs that will kill you every 5 minutes. I have quit GW repeatedly for years over how frustrating that is. Both games have pluses and minuses. Mount riding in GW feels awkward right now and it seems the flying may be better in FF14…..I'll determine if I'm ever able to complete the long storyline to unlock flying. I've bought everything with both games but I feel that playing GW2 with my high level….max lvl character (that I lvl'd up from lvl 1 btw-not boosted.)…wayyyyyy more frustrating to complete simple things like flying or getting around in the world than FF14. I love that I have both games though and I will defend them both as having great content.
Mog Station …I agree 100%. I hope they change that soon.
It's good to see you again! Sorry I've been missing streams. I'm looking forward to hearing your impressions now that you're actually taking your time and just enjoying the journey.
Glad to see you coming back =) Hopefully you get a pure experience this time, and hey, when cross DC comes around, hit me up (I'm on an EU server now, where I belong lol)
I enjoyed your returning player impressions. 🙂 I also hit 'F' when trying to accept quests after I've been Guild Wars, my fingers get used to hitting something and sometimes it's hard to swap back. If you ever need help in FF I'd be happy to help since I'm on Crystal (Zalara). Looking forward to the next video! Oh, btw how is your furbaby doing, is he more comfortable in his surroundings now?
Yay Xan back.
A side note, you can move your old Aether character to Crystal and provide it gil/etc for free transfer right now. What's nice is your new character is road to 70 buff which means you can pretty much ignore side quests except for unlocks. I have a character on Diabolos if you do need help 🙂 Pyromancer is on the server as well. Oh and Ciderspiderr (Mad because small) very funny guy 🙂
ffxiv websites are cancer to navigate, as an aussie player I really dislike that im stuck paying in usd and euro (expensive), with that said i adore ffxiv i just feel it unnecessarily complicated for players playing alone
I'm actively playing both games and there are times when playing FFXIV that I get hit by highly telegraphed attacks because instinctively I thought that I can dodge in the last minute to trigger "Evade". Also you should check out this channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3Akl8fqpxwE4jn7VvJLJ8w) — good videos having fun with GW2 griffon.
yeah kinda crazy that an mmo can get "full" after so many years
I have not tried FFXIV for sole reason didn't know it was a thing. Also didn't know it was more popular than WoW… in Fact the way I learned about it was that YouTube started showing me videos recently of Asmongold's and I saw his reaction to FFXIV where they also talked that FFXIV is more popular…
My opinions come from experiences of almost 30 years gaming on wide range of games from Racing games, sport games, fighting games, farming games and mmorpg games too. Like Tabula Rasa, Anthem, Destiny 2, SWTOR, ESO, EvE-online, Anarcy-online, Arc Age, BDO, Wildstar, GW2, WoW (since 2006 to ~2015), runescape and few others I don't remember name off.
I should try FFXIV but in my honest opinion GW2 looks more appealing. Even WoW Retail looks more appealing. FFXIV Reminds me of Tera-Online and Soul and Blade which I tried but as it is not action based I know I'm not gonna like it at the start.
Now. I think FFXIV is one of the top MMORPG with GW2 … I would argue those two are the top 1 spot Sharing the spot for few reasons. First GW2 is Horizontal progression while FFXIV in my understanding is Vertical progression game. This means when FFXIV releases new Expansions they make old content Obsolete. OR am I wrong? Let me explain using WoW:
When World of Warcraft released the Burning Crusade they made the level 60 areas obsolete beside leveling. Old raids like Moltencore were no longer useful as you could get better greens from the burning crusade at lvl 61. The made the Raids and Dungeons obsolete. The Vertical Progression means you disregard old content in favor for new content. The alternative ways of doing this is Horizontal Progression, which GW2 is using. That means you don't rise the level cap and in some bad manner once you get best gear the new expansion's drops are not any better for better or worse.
Another game that has Horizontal Progression that I know of is Path of Exile, but they have the advantage of forcing everyone to start from scratch so you can grind the items again. If you think about Path of Exile in way of GW2 it would be like getting new league but being lvl100 with best items and build. You would not hve much to do if you already did everything for that character. The downfall of GW2's Horizontal progression will be that the Raid's don't offer better gear so there is no Carrot dangling in front of the players to keep playing.
How to fix GW2? New Raids (and old ones too) should get something special to grind for. I would say Anet should add for each Raid Boss Mount Skin Drops that are only able to drop from that boss. This way you would have reason to start farming old raids. Add to that pool skins for Gliders and Skiffs and only one can drop at a time but you wont get duplicates. This way you would have to grind all raid bosses at least 3 times to get all 3 skins 😉 This would add so much replay value for the grind if people wan to 100% the games.
There are other ways to fix the Horizontal Progression without offering better items at the latest raids and what nots but I think offering cosmetics skins would be best idea when considering the GW2's Horizontal Progression 😉 New raids should have new skins which make you want to grind them if you have done everything and it is going to take at least 3 weeks to do so if you are lucky.
Sad thing is I'm not able to talk to Anet and suggest this idea for them ^_^ Here hoping youtubers and other content creators would bring this idea of adding special skins to raid bosses to give people reason to keep going back to raiding even if they have all the legendary items already 😉
Now some may say, that is stupid and too much grind but for people like Asmongold the item stat grind is the gameplayloop why they like WoW and FFXIV and don't like GW2. The thing I disagree with Asmongold ofc is that he says GW2 is dead game that is bad because there is nothing to do. When from new player perspective there is more than enough things to do. It would be like Path of Exile player complains that PoE is dead and bad because I already leveled in normal mode to lvl 100 and have seen everything and there is nothing to do or grind anymore and never plays the league mode 😉 complaining the game is bad because there is no item stat grind? fuck that…
I'm sorry for this long ramble <3 I'm just little too exited to see new people try GW2 and about the new Expansion as someone who has played gw2 on and off since 2012… no, I have not done raids nor do I have best gear :^) I have been enjoying the other aspects of the game.
