  1. Absolutely not. It's literally Pay for Convenience. You are paying extra to skip the storyline and literally for less to play.

This isn't the MMO for you if you're uninterested in the storyline and/or leveling at least one class/job.

  2. Not even slightly. Considering that the PvP locks you to the same level and item level as your opponent and in terms of PvE the job skip is equipment you get from that job quest line anyway. So in terms of gameplay…. You can solo content easier I guess if you hit the first dungeon as a lvl 80 so you can skip party times I suppose…. If you skip the story then… you do you I guess? Missing some great stuff though.
But other than cosmetics, there is nothing you can get from the mog station you cannot obtain in the game (I count mounts as cosmetic as they are literally all the same in terms of function except the ones that can can carry more than one character, which is never essential ever) this game is not pay to win at all.

  3. No one understands the difference, between pay to win and pay for convenience. People just get jealous when you can do something for no effort when they had too. Then claim that it's some how not fair, as if you can't level 1-70 without paying extra. The only thing that you can't get without money are the shop exclusive type items. Even then it's still not pay to win, because you can't really win at pet collecting.

  5. NGL, the game's turned me into a whale… but I'm a happy whale.

But to all the new players coming from other MMOs: welcome to FFXIV, where the only thing you can pay extra money for is convenience and cute cosmetics.

  6. 1. The boosts are designed for alts not your main character. If you do your a fool and wont know whats going on, you cant play your character, ALL your gear is WAY below where it should be and your broke so you cant buy anything.
    2. Grafters who get to 90 aren't the ones who get rich, people like me who are collecting all the stuff they need to make that gear will be richer. You still have a couple of months to collect.
    3. If riding speeds an issue for you then pick up a book on patients..lol its also a virtue. Slow down, read the chat bubbles, don't try to speed through the game, hell, enjoy the game. Theirs so much to do that even after 3 years I still have so much to do its daunting!!!
    4. Or don't play it, really that simple and you don't need to make up excuses why you don't like it just say I don't like it and go play something you do. We have WAY more players than we really need to be honest.
    Have a great day

  7. I boosted my second job and no regrets, it turned out to be much more fun and kept me around. It's all matter of perspective, you can insult people who use boosters as much as you want, but for those of us working, where 25 bucks is a fraction of what we make in an hour it's a good option.

I could get to play ninja sooner, leveled it to 80, got into raids, did diamond extreme, farmed the relic weapon… Instead of repeating content I had just done on a summoner.

Also, I see a bit of double standards with what's pay to win or not, the earring is totally pay to win, ive leveled 5 jobs so far. That means the earring gave me 1.5 jobs worth of experience, more than a 25 dollar boost.

You can disagree with boosts as much as you want but you are being part of what's wrong with this community, which isn't perfect. If it's allowed and in the shop you shouldn't be insulting people who use it just because you are too broke to used them.

  8. How is it pay 2 win? None of that stuff sold actually gives you an edge in the game. If you are one of those who would buy the class level skip items you’re not winning anything because you probably don’t know how to play the job class well enough for level 80. Other than that the majority of the stuff in the cash shop is just glamour items. None of it really helps you out other insta-skipping class levels and quests. Besides that many the items are from past events so they’re just there for new players, and old ones who missed out, a chance to get the stuff that’s would otherwise be unavailable to them.

  9. You boost to 70 not 80 plus unless you know what the hell your doing boosting is just giving free money to SE, simple so no is not pay to win, glam doesnt do crap, and if you skip the story you be in more hurt than anything since the story gives you so much stuff for your alts so. Play the game my advice.

  10. Regarding additional retainers, I don't consider the additional storage p2w but pay for convenience.
However, additional retainers defo give an advantage for gil making in the form of Quick Ventures and additional sales listings.
A lot of people downplay gil. But gil can be used to bypass certain grinds.
Eg: if I'm lazy to level my alt jobs with tome gear,I can just buy all my gear off the MB.
Or if I hate content like Eureka, I can just buy the Eureka rewards from the MB.

  11. The only thing i use the cashshop is to give some extra money for the devs, there is almost nothing that is worth buying or can't live without, or seasonal things you can't get anymore, and the boosters are just worthless, you go 80 and you suck at the game, and even if you are 80, everything will sync you down, so makes no sense at all to use them.

  12. You said leveling a new job dont take alot of time compare to other game but actually it takes ALOT more time compare to WOW ( since now it is a trend to compare everything to wow), you can level up to max level in a day in WOW, you cant possibly get to level 80 in 1 day in FF.
Also level boost in WOW will cost you a 60$ compare to 25 ( now 17.5 on sale, also WOW never have sales on that, but you can get one level boost when preorder new expansion)
You can buy gill with your real money ( because every boost have additional gill in it) and if you can buy endgame progression with gil it is pay2win game.
It is kinda funny to see how people missing the point, FF have much more stuff you can buy with real money compare to WOW but why FF players dont mad? because developers treats players like a humans, not like moneybag, and if developers cool, i dont give a shit how much stuff they sell with real money, also i value my time more than my money so i completly fine with every kind of boosts and skips etc because i understand there is alot of people like me.
Games arent hard and you can learn how to play without x-amount of time from leveling, if you wanna buy boost, just buy it but you have to understand that people you will play with have some kind of expectation from you, and you better spend some time to learn how to play after boost.

  13. One thing that ALWAYS get left out of Mog Station Discussions is that Yoshi P. Has Stated that Part of The Funds Made From the Online store goes right Back into the Community. To finance things like additional housing, added features and more for the Community.

In that Sense – When u use the Mogstation You win on the Back end through Game experience. That will come back as content you will enjoy. In that sense u pay and win
