The FFXIV PvP Experience

A week later and another Lemon video!? That is actually crazy. But no jokes aside, I was looking through some ideas and I thought of remaking this video with a better frame of mind and better skills in editing and such. So I hope you like it, this was a blast to record, and edit. Maybe not so much in scripting but that is how it is. Thank you so much for watching, don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe to the channel since it helps out a ton. Have a wonderful rest of your day/night wherever you are from, and I will see you in the next one!

Quick Edit on the Ranked Section: Due to my own ignorance, I did not know ranked was dead due to it being in preseason, so I apologize for that! Secondly, about the section where I speak about the win-traders and such: I made an observation, I did not dive deep into learning every little detail, and I did not speak with any person who may be involved. Anything that sounds like accusation is not meant to be taken that way, my apologies for if it came across as such. Please do NOT harass anyone displayed in this video.

  1. I believe PvP has the potential to be something more than what it already is, so I must ask: What do YOU think about PvP? What would YOU change from it? Let me know!

  2. It comes down to win trading. It's a sad fact that people at the top of their game are more likely to be hyper competitive. You see drugs being used in the big leagues more often then the casual low-stakes ones because there isn't any reward for doing so in any long term capacity. Being solely focused on the top often means these people are the most likely to cheat to cement that position.

    Thanks,
-person with friends and acquaintances in top raid and pvp spots across several MMO's

  3. I've been playing crystalline conflict since i started. Back then, people used to focus on the objective, and it seemed pretty much everyone was still learning, it was a lot of fun. Nowadays, matchmaking normally puts me against the same group of people who queue at the same time and somehow get on the same team as their friends. It ends up being a bunch of very organized players taking potions around the map and bullying people who are newer or don't play pvp often. I think potion pickups around the map should be removed to encourage people to fight more as a team and benefit more from having a varied team. I also think that there should be a limit to the amount of cc that can be applied to a single target all at once. Many friends that I asked to try pvp often say that the purify ability doesnt work and that's because if they didnt get hit by one cc, it doesn't effect the other 2 or more that can be applied right after by some jobs. I agree that more incentives to push the crystal also need to be added and maybe a tutorial like gamemode to get sprouts into it, something like the smith for pve. As far as frontline, i dont play it often anymore, but the experience tends to be miserable for similar reasons. Very organized teams queue together and it becomes a bullyfest that pushes people away. I feel like having smaller objectives in the game for newer players to do could allow a newer player to feel like they are contributing when ul against really strong teams. Lot needs to be done to help pvp thrive, but it has the pieces to be very enjoyable. The matches i have today when everyone is playing the objective and not just camping potions are very exciting and an experience that i feel a lot of players would enjoy.

  4. If you play machinist you're obese.

Marksman's spite is the dumbest shit I've ever seen. There's no counterplay, it's more annoying than meteor dive and Zantetsuken.
It would be better if there wasn't snapshotting, OR OR if the cast time wasn't nearly instant, OR if the range wasn't literally the entire map.

Idk maybe require some skill a little bit, hm?

At least meteor dive can be countered by teammates, at least zantetsuken can be played around. Marksman's spite is just free damage.

  5. PvP is actually very fun I do it all day long on the times I play and many people I know as well you just need to learn a few things but very fun specially with friends. FL is active all day long on crystal data center until like 3-3:30am eastern time but when that dies down CC is super active. Believe it or not compared to a lot of games this pvp is super fucking active specially on the Q up times, Enjoy!

  6. wow didnt even talk about rival wings but then again next even yoshi p and team seems to care about it or even push it, hell ive only played one time and that was because I sought out a freakin discord group just to find enough people to que up and after getting curb stomped by them some of them had to leave afterwards. Like I couldnt even properly learn how to play it

  7. as someone who spends a lot of time grinding ranked cc i think you are caught in a trap that a lot of decent-but-still-learning CC players fall into. if you have dramatically higher crystal uptime than the rest of your team and you didn't win chances are it is not your team griefing you but you griefing your team. i speak both from observing player vods and considering my own past mistakes.

the goal is always to move the objective. and there is no point in controlling it if you cannot move it. it is always more important to KO enemy players, increase their respawn timers, and build LB while slowing their LB gain so you have LBs ready during a big push while they're still waiting on their AST to finally get theirs.

if you can't move it and you can afford to let go of it, it doesn't really matter if the enemy team holds possession of the crystal. if you win a teamfight, any progress made/lost by struggling to hold the crystal pales against the progress you make getting to move it uncontested.

obviously when the checkpoint and overtime enter the situation, decisionmaking here changes but so many players genuinely throw games by trying to hold the crystal and get mad wondering why their team won't follow them when in reality they are not contributing anything and are often costing their teammates by not contributing as much to bursting down targets

(of course if you have that machinist who never ever stands on it even when you desperately need to rotate off to heal then that's an issue and they need to be less afraid of standing on it but that's not a problem that comes up every game)

  8. I struggle a lot with wanting to grind out the series rewards but not really caring about PVP at all. The game's ping is just too slow for it and leads for a lot of frustrating situation where I die without really being able to tell what actually killed me. CC could have been fun if I could que up with friends but since they decided not to make that a feature of the mode I'm not very interested in doing that. They've said it's to reduce the win trading but that's obviously happening anyway. That leaves me with Frontline roulette whenever I can remember to actually do it which usually isn't often enough to get whatever mount they put towards the end of the series. Didn't they say something about rerunning older series rewards at some point? Maybe that will be in the pvp update we're getting in 7.1?

  9. Been calling for the removal of battle high for years as it's literally just a steamroll mechanic but the PVP shitfest already starts with basic balancing of jobs and some of the insane skills that can basically just win or lose matches, especially in frontline if you have one party that is 50% or 100% premade, you're fucked. They will win 100% of the time.
