10 Reasons to Play a Scholar in FFXIV

Scholar is awesome!

This is the second video of my 10 reasons to play every Final Fantasy 14 job series! I’m not the best Scholar player but it was fun challenging myself by playing a shield healer.

Which FFXIV job should I make a video about next? Comment down below!

  2. My vote's for Bard. Besides having a frantic rotation at endgame, the glamours are always on point… and beyond that, you can always use Performance -> Trombone -> C B B-flat A (long note)

  3. I feel kinda stupid now because I didnt understand scholar even at the lower levels (like lvl 40), it just didnt click for me. I play sage now, so far my favorite class, but we'll see how that works out in endgame

  5. If I right click an enemy, and I hit them with my book for 890 damage… that isn't 890 damage from the impact, that's eight hundred and ninety separate papercuts for 1 HP of damage each delivered with the absolute precision of a master of battlefield control.

  6. I keep forgetting Scholar and Summoner level at the same time.. I need to get off my butt and do the role quests. I love the aesthetic and job fantasy, and I am sure it’s not that hard.

  7. I was afraid to play Scholar, but I eventually decided to try it.

Only to find out that being level 90 Summoner also makes Scholar 90 so I don't have to play it!
(Also can confirm that both classes smack enemies with the book if close enough.)

  8. Summoner- I started as an Arcanist, was too afraid to be a healer; so I chose Summoner and never looked back. Its my favourite job, easy to play well, and has some team utility too!

  9. As a new and struggling SCH I'm sad I didn't get to actually choose Selene. Made her my glam instead.
As for flow, idk I'm so used to SGE that I can't vibe with SCH even if it has thiccer shields.

Another reason I don't vibe with SCH: I don't wanna eat faiwee (T^T)

  10. Do DRG next so you can:
-get memed on with creative takes such as floortank and loldrg
-suffer from servertick-kills because Star Diver takes 5 milion years to finish
-you can do it all over again in 7.0 (just like with AST (gets reworked at least once every expansion), SMN (gets reworked exactly once every expansion), MNK (suprised the rework lasted the entire expansion)and BRD (your songrotation is still ass, just make Mages Ballad and Wanderers stances like AST had at the end of ShB that are always active and Armys as an OGCD that strengthens the song your currently playin with and gives you the proc-effect of both songs while it`s active like Neutral Sect on AST did for the Healing-stances, would be easier for new players as well) (I did not forget DRK and RDM, SE did)

  11. Avy, get in melee range as SCH, we DO wack mobs with books! Hell during Susano my group decided to let me block Susano's sword (at level 80) and YOU JUST STRAIHT UP USE YOUR BOOK. It's amazing!

  12. When I started playing scholar, I interpreted the tooltip to mean, that the shield spells will only add as much shield, as they heal, and thus would be entirely useless against someone on full health, until a nice person in a duty corrected my mistake.

As for the second fairy, it was turned into a skin. You can switch between the Eos and Selene look with a chat command. You can also turn your fairy into a Carbuncle, if you prefer that, with the same command. But I don't remember it off the top of my head and would have to look it up.

Hmm… speaking of which, what happens when you have your fairy glamoured into a carbuncle and use summon Seraph? Do you still get a big fairy, or something else? I've never tried.

Scholars (and summoners) do actually smack the enemy with their books, if you auto-attack in close combat. 😉

If you do the reaper, please asks Jocat to use the Spooky Slice song and if he agrees, make it one of the ten reasons. 😀
