This was the best story in the game, you either are hoping Zepla will come and sleep with you or you drink as much as she does???
Zepla is just burned out , she played ffxiv all the time. That was her mistake , off course if you finish all and dont have much to do everything will seem boring. About the Relics its always been about how fast you can get tombstones. Ive done 1.0 , stormblood and shadowbringers , its the same there you use tombstones. Also you have to take into account the main story is over at the end of the expansion , the patches after that are off course going to slow down the story. Just like ARR when it was done it slowed down and then the ARR patches slowly build up to heavensward. Here is the same or more, since we dont even know what the new story arc is about. I also feel zepla is stressing out to much about alot of stuff after returning to wow lol . Shes getting that wow effect back lmao. But it ok shes playing other games, i did the same when i got burned out , but i am back to ffxiv and its as fun as ever for me . Also during the patche Yoshi P was focusing more on xvi than xiv and offcourse will be notice , but its should be expected. The only thing i am not with zepla is that theres less people , theres still always a Q to get in . I just feel zeplas closest friends have gone to play other games and this is why she feels like theres no one .
I'm going to assume a lot of the problem with most people is that most people's friends are going off to play other things because they did what they wanted in FFXIV (WHICH IS OK). I saw the same thing on wow after 15 years of playing, burn out is going to happen regardless of the content. Why? because you get better at clearing it from years of experience. People will always go and come, the only problem i see this for are content creators even more so when your fan base is for FFXIV. Once you play something else people will stop watching, happens to all streamer that "main" a game. I took 5 months off and now I'm back and enjoying the game again. That said i think the main problem is yalls friends arent playing as much as they used too and it makes yall feel bad? Which is understandable.
EW Content would be a lot more enjoyable if my Samurai wasn't gutted in gameplay. Kaiten gone, Tenka Goken turned Circle, Auto-Crits…. So much Streamlined that I lack desire to do any type of content. 95% of all Content = for Casuals, of which already is a cakewalk experience… Top that with simplified job gameplay makes it extra bland… " Just go play Ultimate " like Yoshi P told many of us to do isn't for everyone. My Samurai, the only Job I like playing was just a lot more fun before patch 6.1… no amount of content is going to fix that. Give back… my Kaiten !! mhm
Here's my feelings. I started XIV in 2017, have over 12,000 hours of gametime and have mastered the aspects of the games I enjoy. I have not completed everything I'd like to, I've not cleared all the raids/ultimates but at this point I don't care anymore. My personal core issues with XIV and its direction are very much focused into two aspects which have a lot of overlap. Gameplay and Content design.
The raw gameplay, the buttons you press and how you press them, its not an aspect the game I see discussed a lot when it comes to why people feel disatisfied with the game, but I believe it to be a major contributing factor for veteran players like myself, pre-5.0 players. A moderate factor for those who started in 5.0, and not really a big deal for those who started in 6.0. For myself, its too simple. So much depth, complexity and player expression in the core Job design as been completely gutted from the game. Every Job in a role feels the same with only a few exceptions, and I'll talk about the exceptions and why I still find those Jobs compelling. In terms of Tanks, the abilities are split into two types. Offensive and Defensive with the two sides having no interaction. PLDs core rotation does nothing for its defense, neither does GNB. The Blackest Night from DRK doesn't count because of its fail condition of wasting MP, thats a forced gameplay mechanic not an active player decision. WAR, and its only small, has the abilities to combine its offensive and defensive kits to get better rewards. Stacking Inner Chaos and Bloodwhetting to force crit self-healing is an active player decision you can make. It's all benefit, there's no fail condition, its just smart ability synergy to get better rewards and show you have a deeper understanding of your Job. Little things like that are soooo compelling to me and give a Job a feeling of identity. And why WAR is my 2nd favourite Job in the game. And then there's BLM. The only true caster left in the game. It's need to plan ahead, pre-position, and map out a fight not only in your cooldowns but in terms of timing and positioning to maximise your Leylines, minimise your movement is unlike ANY other Job in the game. Nothing is like BLM, its so increadibly unique and well designed in its uniqueness. Every other Job in the game feels cookiecutter copypaste, with the only things different between then being numbers. SAM does more damage than RPR. MNK buffs damage while DRG buffs crit. NIN's Mug is uniquely a debuff but its functionally identical to Brotherhood or Arcane Circle for the party and all 3 of those abilities increase the Jobs meter gain in one way or another. Jobs need identity and avenues for player expression of understanding and skill. It's a thing Jobs had pre-5.0 that has been lost.
Content has been largely the same since 3.0 but a recent trend that I'm kind of sick of for high end content is how just, unfairly punishing things are. 1 guy makes one mistake and the first response of the raid is "Alright just wipe and go again" or you instantly wipe anyway is just tedious. Yes raiding is a team activity and everyone in the team needs to be on point, but I feel the ability to react to changes, make a recovery and still clear, or maybe not clear but getting more practice in the later parts of the fight is something that's been lost. Who needs to know how to make a recovery without Healer LB3 when most people would rather wipe and go again for a "clean run." Casual content is even worse, Patch day drops and you can be done with all casual content in 3 hours, k see you again in 3-6 months. There is no casual content. There is high end raiding, gathering/crafting, and side activities. The next big issue is lack of variety and longentivity. Every patch since like 2015 has been identical with minor differences. But since 5.0 is has been literally identical, we don't get surprises anymore. Not even a bonus side dungeon, consistency is nice but we need surprises to keep patches interesting. Longentivity is a harder thing to address, the grind to lvl cap isn't a grind. You do it in the story so leveling isn't an experience. It's a checkbox. The core progression is item level. Which increases every patch. XIVs gearing is horrible because of it, nothing feels special or unique. I cannot give a suggestion to fix this that I think would work, I'm not that smart. As much as I would love XI style gearing, it would not work in XIV.
Speaking of XI, here's some extra thoughts and feelings I've gained since I started XI. Been playing this for 10 months and have 2,150 hours logged in.
– XIV needs more higher end Alliance content, something for Free Companies to participate in and do once or twice a week for gil, upgrade materials or unique drops. Higher end enough that you can't go in with match making, but still casual enough that its reasonable for an FC to get enough people for it and complete it. Dynamis Divergence in XI is a great example. It has a few purposes as a piece of alliance content. 1) Go in and farm for gear upgrade materials from optional mini bosses, 2) Go in and farm Reinforcement Points by killing zone mobs to upgrade your Job Specific Necklace. 3) Go in and Hunt and elusive Mob called Aurix to get super valuable and rare materials that you can sell for gil to other players on the Marketboard. 4) Go in and kill mobs to unlock higher tier upgrades for some potentially BiS gear pieces. All 4 of those can be done with a casual group. Or 5) Go for the Wave 3 Megaboss kill to unlock further augmentation upgrades to your ultimate weapons. Something for the endgame players to take their power further.
– Smaller party sizes are nice. I've had a ton of fun with 6 man parties and 18 man alliances more than 8 and 24 man.
– Forced holy trinity Job design is accessible, but restrictive.
-Timegates can be healthy
– Relic weapons having unique effects besides damage values is insentive to seek them out and collect them. I'd love for all of XIVs Relic weapons to be upgradable to max ilvl, with each different one having a different effect on the Job. Examples: WAR ARR Weapon, increased self healing. WAR HW Weapon, Passive Mitigation, WAR SB Weapon, Equilibrium is now AOE, etc etc. These are just random example but the idea is there. Make relic weapons worthy of the title. Care about balance? Keep the relics behind raid weapons on ilvl for like the first 2-3 months or smth.
Long post, have a lot more. But I've said enough for now.
I normally like zeplas content but this i CANNOT agree on at all she may be able to spend countless hours on shit because her job is sitting at home but alot of us who work.9 to 5s don't have the time to dedicate to mindless grinding play wow if thats all you want to do-nothing is wrong with end walker it was a great expansion
for me, I know people might not like how relic grind to be "easy" but for me I'm fine with this one
my biggest gripe of StB and ShB relic is not "how long", it's "when"
Both of those 2 are fine on-content, but the difficulty spikes hard once it become old content
and not from hardness of the grind, but from requiring other people and getting in there at the right time
For Eureka, you need group of people to effectively spawn and kill Notorious Monsters.
due to Hunt-like mechanic (RNG respawn timer, tuning for groups), you need to have community AND can get in when it counts
if you cannot get in when people are actively doing it, you're stuck.
For Bozja, there would always be some people in there to a degree due to it also being leveling content
but for the actual grind part, it's actually more productive to grind them OUTSIDE of Bozja
the first step use Poetic which people should have no problem with
the second step is better with FATE grinding
the 3rd step is better with level 60 Antitower grind/leveling roulette
the 4th, 5th, and 6th steps have one time grind you need to do somewhere else
and the repeating one have the same problem with Eureka, you need to be able to play when people are playing
CLL,DR,Dalriada, they cannot be solo-ed, and you need group of people who know what they are doing (not Savage or Extreme level, but still possible to fail)
tdlr., for those that play casually, have a lot to do IRL, and/or not being able to get in when other people play, these become something out of reach
as for not having people to play with, I myself, being mostly "solo player", do not really have much input in the regard of group content that require stable long term group or something like that
but personally, I do like the fact that I don't need to "try to keep up" when IRL stuff demands me otherwise
although, to be fair, I do have NA alt and JP main, which means I get to see the difference in time and people
even so, when using duty finder, I don't find it took that long
I believe COVID negatively impacted Endwalker, and they simply couldn't recover the time they lost. Especially when you notice it's the first time they included all trials in the MSQ. It suggests they didn't have enough time to create a side story quest, let alone content similar to Bozja
she and her echo chamber are crying that ew focused on giving mre stuff for casual players . most ppl love the game most hardcore like the game it has raids and ultimates t only the 8 % midcore players who didnt get relics this expantion and no eureka that are crying when they STILL GOT crit dungs+ depp dung this expantion.
Honestly I feel like the patch cycle would have been a lot better if msq and the trial series were separate. I would have been fine with it being like 6.1 where we went on fun little adventures that led into something that required a trial fight. Then have the trial side story be what it is now with fighting the 4 fiends. I'm guessing the reason they did what they did was to introduce Zero (assuming she doesnt die in 6.5). Tataru's grand endeavor just wasnt enough to replace the trial side story.
I get that covid probably messed a lot of things up and their focus was on ff16, but endwalker seriously is/was lacking. Honestly the only reason I'm subbed right now and why I get on is so I don't loose my in game house
Post EW patch endgame besides high-end raiding has no re-playability. There is no long term casual activity with progression- relics are a joke,no EUREKA/BOZJA,no MMO activity,… Patches fell empty week after launch. FFXIV is great but new EW content not so much
Keep in mind content that was skipped in Shb (DSR, EUREKA ORTHOS,HILDY) and pushed into EW and its felt even more drought then Shb?- btw all those above were indented for Shb
Basically no sense of progresion and long term casual term(-optional content) or large group activity in an MMORPG – example criterion/variant and relics(- dead content on release)
The lack of EUREKA/BOZJA if they used already existing new content-variant,EUREKA ORTHOS,.. Or use open world that sits there unused for some fates or something,…
This comment section just shows that the FFXIV community cant take criticism because they act like the game is perfect with no flaws
EZ fix for ranked CC: just make it give more series EXP compared to normal
The people complaining about Endwalker are the content creators that can't find things to talk about and players that have been playing for years and have already done everything they want to do in the game.
The vast majority of the playerbase just log in and chip away at long term goals or they don't log in, they don't complain and they just find something better to do with their time.
Every expansion is always the worst expansion for content creators that put all their eggs in the FFXIV basket. Most players just log in whenever, chip away at a goal, rinse and repeat. They treat XIV like any other game and not a second life or job.
They would never do the challenges for the relics bc the casual players will complain about it. Nothing wrong with casuals but i wish like you said i wish rewards were more meaningful, there is no challenge…
I am a simple man. When someone say "There is nothing to do in the game" and I see Yellow Quests on their map, I throw their opinions down the dumpster. F*king casual.
15:51 you've described my motivation to play FF. I love tearing down a finished house and remodelling to practice decorating or testing new ideas. The process may seem strange to people who don't interact with housing yet tearing down a finished house just to remodel gradually reduces time and improves design overall.
I really wish for something to do solo – like anything. We kinda got deepdungeons but they take a lot of commitment and are so damn punishing + repeatable it just does not hit it for me. The best thing i did was after asphodolos – i went back soloing eureka and procedded to go for the bozjan duel titles. Everyday i had a reason to login, just to wait for fates im hyped for to have that chance to battle the duel im waiting for my chance at a duel. Made friends along the way, talked duel strats and farmed around. Without having anything to do besides raidcontent im limited to wait for my static to play, which at this moment are doing content im not that much interested in anymore. I really dont understand why they did not do anything this time, wasnt EW their biggest success yet? I dont know if i can stay subbed for much longer – theres nothing to do.
I do feel like it's a lot of content but I'm able to make my own goals when I play. I guess I'm not the kind of player that needs a goal handed to me? I'm having a lot of fun in Endwalker and think it's a continuation of everything they've built on before, while still trying new stuff.
I’m not doing any endwalker content because there’s no replayability. The content is good it’s just a lot of one and done. I’ve been doing a shit ton of hunts, eureka, and Bozja though.
