  1. For a company it’s a nice position to be in – your playerbase entertains themselves and actively defends the game, spends lots of money at the cash shop and mods it heavily to perpetuate the self entertainment.

This means SE can stick to their regular formula and continue to release the minimum to keep the lights on which keeps the dev budget down and the profits up. They must be laughing after 13 years – there’s no need or pressure to deliver value for money anymore.

  2. You are not wrong in your assessments, feel like the delivery for the first video is just a bit off and gives room for people to interpret it as if you're burned out or think the game is dying. You can't control some of that, there'll always be people that think that way but you can improve the delivery of your points without needing 3 videos :p Just sayin! Love the content tho, have a good one!

  3. The game isn’t dead. I logg in everyday and Limsa is filled with players. All other major cities as well. People may not be doing actual content but instead just being social.

  4. "only 400 hours till endgame"…

The point of FF14 isn't reaching endgame, it's entirely about the journey. The MSQ itself points this out. The game IS the story and the main instances you do to complete it. The rest of it is side content; quite literally on the side. Optional. Not intended to be the game's primary purpose.

This game isn't endgame centered. It's entirely about the main story. What happens afterward and the side content provided, while extremely important, is not the most important part about the game.

Hell, you can even do main story instances with your friends as they reach them. That's how a friend play through MSQ with me; they got to endgame faster than me and just did the instances with me along the way.

It's really not as bad as you think it is.

  5. Man this is a hilarious topic and I'm surprised needs a look at. Of all the mmo's ff14 should be the last one to worry about the player base dropping off 😂 I honestly think there are just that many players who love the game so much they cant help but be overly conscious of the game's current state or longevity.

  6. I don't think he is talking about zepla actually. There are a lot of smaller youtubers that have been making more doomsaying videos lately like "is ff14 dying!?" "Why is everyone LEAVING ff14?" Etc and not just making criticisms like you do.

Xeno actually predicted your mindset about ff being changed when you progged TOP. He said your eyes were going to be opened and you'd realize this game doesn't really have that much content to offer.

  7. Endwalker patches are not all bad it’s 50/50 so far. 6.1 and 6.2 were great. The MSQ was interesting during the new adventure and we had some great scenes and then our first time going to the world of darkness in EW was great. We also had DSR and Aglaia. 6.3 and 6.4 were not so great. MSQ meandered and got bogged down and TOP just broke people. We will see with 6.5.

  8. To be fair, Xeems is a raider. So he got 2 ultimates, a decent raid and solid trials, and a few random tough fights like the criterion or the HW unreals. So from that perspective EW was fine. The problem is that he's in an extreme minority, so what he enjoys may not translate to everyone.

  9. The massive drop off of players this time around, is due to the fact that a lot of players came from other MMOs, gave FFXIV a shot, engaged with most of the content, and then decided to leave when they ran out of things to do. People forget how HUGE the player influx was back in 5.5 to 6.0, it was insane. Now that the hype train is over and the game has latched to a reasonable percentage of people, it’s just time for the game to go back to normalcy when it comes to numbers. It happens every expansion, but this time it is more severe than normal.

The general consensus agrees that EW is a MUCH more difficult expansion than SHB was. The emphasis on raiding or you don’t get to play the game has been HUGE as well. There’s lots of factor for sure.

  10. Isn't dying, it had a lot of online interest, interest peaked, casuals following streamers got weeded out, and we're getting what's left. Not to mention the game tends to run in cycles so it will inevitably peak back up and go back down; rinse and repeat every expansion.

  11. I tried to get to Endwalker with friends and…the reality is some are faster, some are slower, some hyperfocus on MSQ until they get there in a few months, and some take their time because they play 10 other games that also get frequent updates.

  12. i think ppl make too much of a fuss about it and the numbers. Dont get me wrong, i too think the game needs some systems rethinking and overhauls, but about the numbers. There r now multiple factors that come into play that in part the other expansions didnt have. For 1 the normal game cycle, nothing to do, boredom at the end of the expansion. No Bozja/Eureka time and grindsink area. Some stuff they tried didnt quite worked out well like criterion and i think even island is no long term content. Then i think there is now a much longer waittime until the next expansion then usual? Not sure. But 1 factor that many seem to not count in, some ppl r just done after the big Zodiark/Hydaelin arc is over. We r at a point were the big tension is over and now the game needs to build up an enticing story again to catch some old but also new player generation and in hope with some much needed overhaul, not just in looks. I hope the name "Dawntrail" is even meant abit like a new dawn of the game with overhauls in looks and systems and content. But could also be hopium! ^^

  13. ffxiv is kind of a pile of garbage. The only meaningful stuff you can get is cosmetic shit. Progression is complete shit. Everything becomes entirely obsolete with the next patch. It's literally a social chat hub to play dress up.

  14. I don’t think the game is dying. I do think the game has issues that shouldn’t be ignore . We are only hurting the game by denying that the game doesn’t have issues. People are allowed to criticize ff14 without being attack XD. I don’t see the harm if people are asking for more content. Yes please give us more.

Ff14 is an rpg before a mmo imo. 5 years of playing ff and I have always enjoy it… I take things at a really slow pace so I do have a lot to still do. I simply took a break because I wanted to play some other games. Just wasn’t in the mood to play ff14 which is fine. Simply just took a break. Not because I didn’t have stuff to do. Simply because I wanted to try other games that I have bought and been sitting on. But I still very much love ff and don’t see myself leaving the game permanently for a long time. I mean I don’t even have all my classes to 90 XD. But the game isn’t dying .. I agree people are just bored not burnt out. Including myself I was bored and decided to play some of my backlog games.

I actually made an alt to reply the story. Which has been really cool to see what changes they have made.

  15. Xeno is the last person people should listen to on complaints outside of job improvements. He is the embodiment of "game has nothing to do" – skipped all other content in the game until he got to end game and waited for only content that a hilariously small number of people care about relatively speaking.

  16. When you return and plan to return to the game, then you dont "quit".
People dont quit drinking by saying "I'll drink again in 3 months"😂.
Simply ffxiv doesnt have enough stuff to do.
I havent played for 3 months since last savage tier. Did I quit? Hell no i like the game, but i wont force myself to play it when there is nothing to do.

  17. At 24:00 Xenos simply says you can get burnt out from a certain aspect of a game. Period. I don't know why that buffet comparison is there when he literally doesn't say anything about a correlation between burning out from a certain part of the game and the state of Endwalker.
You got burnt out from TOP and I bet he's right saying that if you had a good group for TOP that was successful you wouldn't burn out from that certain aspect of the game.
Although you going to play other games because there's nothing else in Endwalker that you wanna do is a valid point but has nothing to do with his statement. So not really a "counterpoint".

Inbefore I agree with your criticism and points of view for Endwalker. At the same time PERSONALLY as a somewhat completionist I enjoy having time to catch up on old expansion content since EW didn't have e.g. a Bozja. I can see however that I'm a minority here and it's an MMO and I want people around as well. Just seeing some positive aspects in this whole situation

  18. Im not worried for the game atm. But I am worried that the games content is getting increasingly short lived and the cult members always have their script ready with "play other games"

Well people do go and play other games, they just miss the part where they return to 14.

And if you told me Id be saying this 2 years ago Id have called you crazy, I didnt feel this even in the Shiva era of shadowbringers, or before EW.

  19. About burn out part, it's clearly that Xeno is completely out of touch to average players. To say that the game doesn't force you to play at all is extremly not true especially if you want to keep up with new hardcore raids. You have to farm money, farm materia, blush up your logs, find a static/replacement, weekly tome and so on. If you have a full time job and you have been doing hardcore raid since SB, it's quite easy to feel burnt out because we don't have time to play FF14 all day long.
