  1. Glad you're having fun. Healer changes were so underwhelming, I'm just so bleh atm. I'll prob come back at a later date, but SCH is just unrecognizably sad in the 7.0 iteration. Just can't ride with it any longer.

  2. It's been cringe to watch zepla with msq this time around. She quick to judge things when there was an answer a dialog later. But she sits there 20min explaining how cringe it is for her. And the part about Koana dropping out had me cringing for zepla. For the entire story, he has been depicted as the logical one. He admitted himself that he neither cared or knew how to reach out to his people. And saw their culture as hinderance to advancement. He realizes that Wuk Lamat was far better choice for leading her people. This also goes further in later MSQ when they meet the people in golden city where they find out what happens when obsession in advancement could results in losing their morality.

  3. Zepla confirms my own thoughts on the MSQ. The fact that the Scions don't act like themselves and the writing being lower quality than expected. Once the desert area concludes though it's as if the grown up writers take over again and the game goes back to that familiar style I expect from a Final Fantasy XIV expansion. Weird shit

  4. I get what they did. (no spoilers) You for once are not the focus of the story. Wuk is. However her character was too familiar. It really did seem like we were babysitting her. And while there was character growth in terms of capability. Her personality was all samish to what we the WOL are and the scions. Friendship peddlers and overly forgiving. No room for any pessimism and growth from that mindset. No grey. All forgiveness and friendship circles She was not a complex enough character to have to watch from the sideline. I like some of the later concepts in the MSQ but overall it was a wash of Meh.

  5. Im almost an hour in, and while i gave a lot of issues with this expansions' writing i would like comment on Lyse Vs Wuk Lamat. The similarities are that they are both "happy-go-lucky" characters. This alone i have noticed is devisive amongst peoplem. Even in my own friend groups whenever happy/naive characters show up there those who hate them for their mere existence and those who love then by their very nature. For those who love them their mistakes are easily washed away under the guise of Naivety. For those who hate their every action is ridiculed and comedy ignored. There are some middle grounds but they seem few and far between. I like to believe im in the middle camp but thats for others to decide.

The biggest difference between these two in my opinion is expectation, experience and time. We had 2 expansions with Yda bedore she revealed herself as lyse. Longer for those who played 1.0, which is a wholely different character and bag of worms. As such the expectations and experience of Lyse is wildly than Wuk Lamat.

Wuk Lamat was largely a blank slate while Lyse had a lot more going for her. My personal opinion is that both these characters failed in what I expectated from them.

I wont say more about Wuk Lamat for spoilers but for Lyse my expectation was that she was going to drop what I believed to be a mask. I believed that her flippant and whimsical persona was facade to cope with the losses she suffered. Instead they made her simply that stupid the lessons she learned were lessons she should have learned a long time ago. Between loosing her sister and seeing friends and companions die she never should have had the "im invincible" mentality.

  6. zepla has quickly went from one of my most favorite streamers to the most annoying negative streamers this expac i've ever seen. its crazy that not even 2 minutes into this video it already starts off negative. i can't believe how awful this is. its almost unreal

  7. You know how everyone cringed at Sodapoppin for complaining about the Sharlayan fountain?

That's been Zepla the entire MSQ. Weirdly hypercritical over the smallest things and spends a half hour complaining about things that are explained a cut scene later. It all comes full circle!

  8. I think people forget that the story is written by Japanese people. SO, there is a LOT of japanese education culture, I mean, the way they treat things and situations. But, this whole part of the expansion I was exhausted too. KOANA is simple the BEST character in all this part, the scene on the cabin hotel, BEST CUTSCENE ever. I want to see more of Zepla's reaction in the next stories of this expasion. Looking forward to it. Please continue uploading the vobs from twitch.

  9. I think the song gets too much hate. It actually has a pretty melody. I think people just cant get over the gospely feel of the singing. If it were more sung like a ballad its not "cringe"

  10. Zepla's reaction to the msq mirrors mine, total disgust at this bad storytelling

That disney song playing was totally undeserved and adds one more total cringe moment to The Wuk Lamat Show. Only the toxic positivity crowd of the community can defend this msq and Wuk Lamat

  11. These comments are wild – these streams are hilarious and this was a fun watch to cringe together as a community.

Can notice the minority here vs. the stream chat – we're having fun and Zepla is being authentic and genuine.

Would you rather have her lie and pretend to like something she doesn't Get out of here.

  12. Okay, I'm done watching. You've your opinion, that's fine. It's another thing to be closed of and biased towards something from the start. Not saying the MSQ is a masterpiece, it's far far from it, but to not get a single bit of enjoyment out of it, is your own fault.
Not gonna watch somebody shit on something for 3 1/2 hours.

  13. I think unfortunately, Zepla's been so disappointed in the story that she's actively trying to find problems, to the point she ignores when the game has answers.

One example is when Wuk (or whoever it was) saying that the whole 'blessed baby' thing was destroying the Mamool peoples' souls; and Zepla said they seemed fine. But she completely ignored there was a whole underground of people who were really demoralised about what was going on, not to mention Bakool Ja Ja himself.

Now, was it handled very poorly? Yes; I definitely agree with Zepla on that. But it's one thing to say: "this explanation wasn't executed well" vs "there is no explanation"; and the latter happens to her a lot, where she misses the explanation entirely.

The Koana/Wuk dual-leadership thing was also something I could see coming way WAY before the scene where Koana destroys his tablet; but Zepla at this point is convinced he's just going to be in a purely advisory role to Wuk's sole leadership. I think if Zepla wasn't so mad, she'd be sharper with this kind of predictable story direction, because she usually is.

  14. when the disney song started playing in my run, I had to get the fuck up and walk the fuck away for about half an hour. even watching you experience it I still– LIKE THIS ISN'T MY FF14. GET THIS SHIT TF OUT MY GAME FFS SQUEENIX PLS (also imo it does not in fact get better in the second half, prepare many pot pacts)

p.s. what you feel and your opinion on the story are inherently valid things that require no explanation, justification or disclaimer. you've been beyond graceful in expressing yourself, so keep on keepin ✌

  15. If you think Koana's decision came out of nowhere you really just didn't listen to a word he said for the past 6 hours. Every time he was on screen since the kidnapping he was like "Oh woe is me I suck at talking to people, why can't I be more like Wuk"

Wuk Derangement Syndrome is a real thing it seems. People just denying reality out here.

EDIT: "Then why didn't I see any of that before now" Are you fucking kidding me? Brain is clearly fucking off.

And no, it doesn't get better. The pace picks up and the stakes become something we can kind of care about, but the sloppy inconsistencies, the way every major character has to announce their motivation every half an hour at least, and the way they've never once heard of "show, don't tell" is true for the entire expansion.

  16. Maulskull made me quit the game for that day. How did that fight go through QA I wonder. First time seeing the left-right punch: you get lucky or you die…next try. The blue aoe knockback marker is barely visible if a friendly aoe is on top of it: you die… next time you stand on the edge of the marker, but you stand in the middle of the arena: you die, because the arena is too small… next time you stack at the boss for the stack aoe and then don't see the left-right punch tells in time, because the energy swirls are off camera… you die.

  17. imagine spending 50 hours on a story just to point out every little flaw you possibly can, completely forgetting the surprise emotional impact shadowbringers had at its end and believing that this story can't deliver something similar. guess we'll see how you feel towards the end of the story?

  18. i honestly think dawntrail will be known amongst majority of the community as the worst expansion, at least story-wise. i enjoyed arr more and i even enjoyed stormblood more. zenos was a great villain and after spending so much time with wuk lamat, lyse really wasn’t that bad imo. dawntrail has made me appreciate past expansions in a different way and i actually made an alt to replay everything bc i disliked it so much. i really hope they see all the feedback and get some of the old writers in on the next expansions msq. loyal players will be able to tolerate one horrible expansion, but definitely not 2 in a row. final fantasy is a franchise known for it’s storytelling and it’s the main reason most of us play the game. when you fail to deliver on what you’ve always done right people are going to notice.

  19. The whole thing with Valigarmanda… did you miss the text that explicitly mentioned that the Valigarmanda we dealt with wasn't at full strength due to its imprisonment?

  20. I wanted Zepla to be honest with her reaction to the game.

We got that and it is refreshing.

The only people mad at her reactions are the toxic positivity squad who came here hoping to have some affirmation from Zepla that this expansion story actually IS great, and all the haters are just being negative for clout.

Nope. You are seeing the honest, unfiltered reaction of a player who loves the game but doesn’t at all like what was delivered for DT’s story

  21. I hate to double post in the comments, but good GOD the coping and seething from the die-hard toxic defenders here is off the meters.

You all are so mad at Zepla’s honest reaction- “she is just jaded and bitter.” “She’s just looking for things to get mad at now”

And you wonder why the FF14 fanbase has the reputation it does? Ready to tar and feather her over this

    She’s right!

  22. It has been an absolute delight seeing Zepla react to the MSQ. Every time she is about to snap it cracks me up so much! Lmao. That being said I liked the msq because I didn’t take it seriously. It’s suppose to be a vacation and all that. But let’s all be honest, the story was giving Naruto, talk no jutsu and similar like stories. Let’s not act brand new. 😊

  23. There are far too many people that just want to dismiss all criticism as you just hate wuk lamat's voice actor, but if that was the case why are jp players equally as up in arms about this xpack too? This is the worst story in FFXIV so far and it's not even close.

Ddosers are trying to save people from the msq.

  24. i agree that the story and direction are pretty cringe… but people calling it worse than Stormblood didn't really remember how identically terrible both expacs are lol

Here's a refresher: Nepo Baby Lyse/Wuk who pushes for the people to go to war/peace and somehow fixes everything by punching everything/talking with everyone. And ignoring the bad stuff, there's also the similarity in how Stormblood/Dawntrail are both a mark of FFXIV's progression in graphics and gameplay.

Ishikawa saved the story with Doma and Stormblood's post-MSQ, and i REALLY hope Dawntrail's post-MSQ gets the same treatment. We'll see!

And hey if you're angry at the MSQ, do everything else. Surprisingly the role quests and even the yellow quests are the actual "vacation" we were always promised. A lot of world building and fun adventures in it.

  25. It feels like the writer is experienced in writing an anime, not so much the ffxiv story thus far that we’re used to. Which is crazy because isn’t this the same writer as STB?

IDK the scions have been vanilla’d down to nearly flavorless, and it’s clear that each character is bending to Wuk Lamat. Who is a great shounen protag, like if this was an anime holy hell this would be hype! But it isn’t, and I think the genre shift, and the weaker grasp on supporting characters is really hurting this half of the story.

  26. 12:00 TBF, it's more like their culture is centered around marriages between people known to have about 100 miscarriages for every pregnancy that makes it to term, which, while not great, is slightly better and reasonable considering their perceived alternative is slow starvation or enslavement.
