  1. I don't think being negative about the game is wrong, it shows that you care about the game and want to see it grow over time. Now, if you only see the positive points, you overlook things that could be improved, but your positive side does not question these improvements and this ends up being bad for the growth of the game.

  2. People seem to conflate negativity with constructive criticism. Complaints aren't only about bashing something, sometimes the devs need to know when something is wrong so that they can fix it and do better next time. Unlike certain game studios that refuse to admit their mistake and it's the communities fault for being uncultured when complaints are made.

  3. Anyone can love a game and still dislike certain parts of it. If one were to go to the extreme: one could compare one's love for a game in terms of RL. One can love their signficant other and still dislike things about them. Its the overall love for the other person that negates the things one doesn't dislike. This is true for FFXIV or any MMO. I love FFXIV!! Are there things I dislike about it? Sure!! Am I going to stop playing because of those things? Nope!!! I have often found that (especially with Zepla) when she says she doesn't like something: she gives a valid reason why. Does everyone have to agree with that reason? No… They don't. Zepla is one of, if not the best FFXIV content creators on YouTube. She cares about the game and its community. Has she said things I've disagreed with? Sure! Will I stop watching her videos because I disagreed with something she said? Nope!! The point is: just because you don't like something about one thing, doesn't mean you throw the whole thing away.

  4. This game is excellent and that gives me all the more reason to criticize it when things to criticize show up.

When I dont like a game. I give it a cursory criticism. This, this and this. Done.
If I like the game. The criticism is usually much more depthful. I take my time to really take things apart. For example, FFXIV job design is heading down a really bad road. They're writing themselves into a wall with this 2minute nonsense while also trying to be accessible. I can go on about this point, but my point is made.

My criticisms come from a place of wanting the thing I love to be better and maybe my way is not the answer, but I am still showing I care.

  5. A lot nicer than I would have been. You stream long enough or be around in a community long enough you run into people like this and it's usually not worth the time to address it as its not always coming from the best place. Once the gaslighting comment would have come up I would have lost it and started memeing. I may just be more hot headed though. Respect being as polite as you were.

  6. I am going to go out on a limb with this analogy. FFXIV is a lot like life. ARR is the dating aspect. Heavensward is the engagement aspect. Stormblood is the period leading up to the wedding. Shadowbringers is the wedding and honeymoon. Endwalker is the period of reflection and contentment in the journey up to that point.

  7. This person probably disagreed with something Zepla criticized a week ago so now all they've seen from her is the negatives. This person has effectively gaslit themself.

  8. You're doing a fine job with these clips. I enjoy your video format and honest opinions. Also, to that commenter: I often have already come to my own opinion and it aligns with Zepla's more often than not. She knows her Ff14. She has taught many people how to enjoy the game.

  9. I Love FFXIV, but just because I love the game doesn’t mean I can’t criticize the stuff that SE needs to improve on. The game has A LOT of content, for which I am glad. I like how the GMs handle toxicity for the most part. The game however really falls flat on character customization, and I stand by that. Too many recolored accessories, character creation needs more variety, and when they release NPC outfits for players, they should be dyeable, and separate. There’s no reason to keep them as one piece at all, unless we’re talking about something like the Omega outfit.

  10. To be honest I can see a little (only a LITTLE) why someone might 'say' this.
Zepla's videos are yet back to 100% of their sunny disposition and energy pre efin PUTIN . There is more of a 'jaded 'tone'.
Frankly that is a lot us right now struggling with costs and we aren't even refugees.
I think this person has in an effort to articulate what they perceive exaggerated and missed their own mark.

  11. It's so strange when people get angry when someone says ANYTHING negative about something they like. I love FFXIV but god damn some stuff in the game can be bad and funny. That CUL cook'n up an airship ain't negative that's a beacon of positivity, a showcase of a CUL surpassing their limits to… cook up an airship lol.

  12. It is META to be negative about MMO's today and I have to agree that she can be negative a lot like how people got with WoW while they played it. Still love watching it all.

  13. For those who cannot stand any criticism of FFXIV, here's what Yoshi-P said in one of his LL:
"Running MMORPG is like running a country. Learn to listen and adapt. A complaint is worth twice a compliment.
If citizens are complaining, it means they still care." πŸ™‚

  14. You were a little weary over the last year which is more than understandable. You are way more positive and I think we all can feel it.
Is someone's feeling different, that's their thing not yours.
Criticism can be healthy, but don't question yourself too much as well.
Asking yourself if your opinions and feelings are valid is a form of gaslighting as well.

  15. When you've played the game as long as we have, the positive stuff starts to fade into black as we notice more and more and more negative things. It's just how it is with every game you love, because you start wanting it to be better and better.

You start to hold the game to a higher standard. You do see and acknowledge the good things, but the bad things just start to stand out more to you.

  16. this is basicly the same shit people say about preach in wow since he started, oh he doesn't like the game, when he clears mythic content all the time pre shadowlands, and when he was no longer had fun with the game he quit it for over a year played FFXIV, POE and subnatica

  17. Negativity is easier to spot and remember then neutral or even positive content. And people love to complain. So is probably not wise to take comments like that To seriously.

  18. Wow, some people are just overreacting. Zepla is a streamer, not a Square Enix representative. She is playing the game, not creating it. She has the right not to like everything on it. Some people are way too obsessed with the games they liked.

  19. Just another day of a FFXIV Andy getting triggered from someone having opinions about certain things in the game that aren't positive or critics. Love the game, but personally just hate the community, mostly since these type of people are the loudest ones.

  20. Not commenting on whether you're too positive or negative. Don't have an opinion about that. But 2:02 I would contradict that statement. Yes, you have the power to influence people's opinion. A lot of them actually. Everyone does, but a youtuber/streamer with a big platform and following isn't called an influencer without reason. No one investigates every topic earnestly themselves and forms a completely rational opinion by themselves. Influencers help them look up some topic real fast and adopt an opinion that seems solid enough. It's the same as looking up a review about a movie and then deciding not to watch it. As soon as friends start talking about the movie you shouldn't have something to say, but you still give your "opinion" which is entirely build on second-hand information. And because we live in an age where headlines and thumbnails need to be click-bait-y these second-hand opinions get stronger and stronger. So now everyone has increasingly strong opinions about things which actually should have no relevance to them.
