  1. I don't really care to find out if my character's chin or nose have moved a couple pixels, but if they consider this the "bad benchmark" I'm excited for the "good" one because my dude already looks awesome.

  2. As a fairly dark toned Viera player this news made me unbelievably happy. While I knew it wasn’t a finished product, of course, Viera particularly… got a pretty big glow-down in the benchmark compared to how they look in Endwalker.

I’m one of the people that was on that extremely long 90+ page Japanese thread and I’m so happy they are taking the feedback so seriously.

  3. The Yoshi P simps making comments are embarrassing. He f's up by trying to pull fast ones, gets called on them, apologizes (all the time), and then the blind lapdogs eat it all up and wave their We Love Yoshi P flags.

That's not how it should work, derps.

  4. Watch them add a clip of Bahamut burning the screen when entering the fixed character creation lol.

But for real, the fact the devs actually listen and react/respond to community concerns is one of the big reasons I love the game over other MMOs.

  5. Well, by fixing the benchmark they also make it better for the launch, as everything going in here is also applying to the base game. But it's also undeniable that this benchmark shone a light at how lacking the character creation screen is to truly see how your character looks, as each locale is quite off to how the characters are lit in-game.

  6. I know the "lifeless eyes" thing was an issue for some, bit it was great for higglanders. My WoL's eyes looked great in that initial benchmark screenshot. Saw the determination in his eyes. I was happy with my character's updated look.

  7. I will be honest .. after the complete shyte show from BUGTHESDA and their telling customers that customers are wrong and to suck it up ( for years they been doing that .. the whole "just shut up and give us your money because you the buyer dont matter) … FFXIV dev team are a godsent and absolutely AMAZING

  8. I'm glad they're able to make some adjustments as necessary. I'm also glad he mentioned the enormous amount of data that needed to be changed. I think a lot have never worked in software and don't realize all the behind the scenes stuff that happens. Something will get missed.I’m really happy that Yoshi is directly acknowledging the criticism and working to fix the problems the community pointed out. It’s a lot more than most game companies do these days

  9. He even says that the stuff in it doesn't necessarily reflect how it will look in DT. This is because of people using the benchmark test as a game preview and I don't believe it was meant to be that way. My only concern would be if updating the BM affects my results. I liked my viera's mouth so not sure what they are talking about. Maybe it is on models made in the BM and not those ported over from a save file.

  10. It is weird they over looked the fact that it looks like the old graphic we have today. The reason I say this is that they did implanted the Dawntrail hair style of the trailer so that is the reason I still wonder how they over looked that.

  11. Its nice they are doing something here, lots of negative feedback especially on the official forums. I know people who were very very distraught about their character being significantly changed. Really wish they responded to the years of complaints from healers about the changes theyve made or really any players when it comes to combat or class design. On that front they are not just unresponsive but the answers of "if you want more engaging content do Ultimates" and the general ignoring of player feedback really just feels bad. I believe Yoshi P has his heart in the right place and cares but I really wish they would be more open and care about what players think and feel when it comes to gameplay too.

  12. They are probably remaking the character creation for the real release and when it is finished they let the build pipeline for the benchmark run again with the new character creation. The main extra work on the benchmark here is putting the newly built benchmark up for download

  13. It's cool that SE will update the benchmark tool just to put out any doubt that players might have before launch so players are as excited as possible for DT, though I think the benchmark tool will never be a proper way to see how your character will look once DT launches since it's obvious that the character creation tool uses different lightning. You can even see this in-game, you go to the aesthetician, change something about your hair, and then once you're back into the game, you realize it looks different and you have to re-adjust again hehe.

  14. If you dig into the feedback threads in the SE forums, there was a lot of serious discussion about hesitation about buying the expansion or even some folks saying they were no longer going to get the preorder. I think this was a necessary step, partially as a result of the extensive emphasis on graphical updates in the lead up to Dawntrail. Across the board (no pun intended), all over the world, folks were pretty consistent in pointing out issues, and voicing genuine concern over what this means for the overall update. They made this rework necessary with their own emphases.

  15. This is a good call, but not just for concerned existing players. Endwalker was the largest influx of new players the game has seen yet and they want Dawntrail to follow that performance. The Benchmark is a lot of potential new players first impression of the game. Since the selling point has been "Dawntrail will come with a graphical overhaul!", it sensible for them to make sure the benchmark's graphics reflect closer to the finished product. Otherwise it might cause people to misunderstand and give the game a pass.
