  1. The only complain I'll have about the benchmark is that for some reason it won't launch no matter what I try, so I can only watch with envy as others get to compare the before/after of their character. At least these vids keep me updated on what I'm missing out on

  2. The thing is all new models are really only one 'new' mesh. So details like the ultra specific look of the scales, some lips and lala maxilars were not re-done. That has nothing to do with the character creation. I hope the team doesn't get overwhelmed and looks at things like the lala teeth on this video so they move the mesh around a bit more.

  3. I'm wondering if the Au Ra lips and nose scales will be normal again then? The new lips on face 4 REALLY looks downgraded and felt like it was the mesh that was changed for worse and not really lighting issue + lipstick was worsened too. Regardless I'd still keep playing! Still looks pretty enough, just nerfed.

  4. It's not just the benchmark though. The changes Yoshi P is talking about will also apply to the in game character creator, so it's important they get it right. In effect, the benchmark is a beta test for the in game character creator, which is the first thing new players see.

  5. ive seen some really bad comparisons where they used different lighting lvls, angles etc that make the feed back look like just trolling. but this is a lot better of have the same screenshots to show the differences.
im glad they are open to fix the character creator and benchmark toon creator.

  6. My character is a midlander so I’ve had zero issues and was confused when I started seeing these videos come up. But then I saw that it was the non human races that were having issues and it made sense.

  7. The benchmark is a hype tool as much as a preview, and the current one is building too much negative reaction. That's the core reason for the rebuild. Of course they're listening regardless, but the benchmark 2.0 is because of the negative reactions.

  8. Will there be a benchmark to see if the new benchmark will run on my PC? the old new benchmark ran fine but not sure about the new new benchmark with it's added shaders? Also, are mods available on the Benchmark? will the new benchmark break mods on the old new benchmark ? sorry for noob question I am new to old new and new new bencmark ffxiv 14

  9. 11:10 from shader perspective, those are the same gloss. Just different glossiness on one material (face) controlled by a texture map to tell which part is more or less gloss (which could also be later adapted following certain condition like being wet).

They already had the glossiness map in the past. They wouldn't just take that away. The problem here is that with the new way to represent the material, the glossiness didn't showed at all.

You look at the character creation and then look back at the 14 hours stream where he show a dungeon wet floor. This update is capable of display a very detailed glossiness than before, but that would require a high detail lighting and environment, which is not present in the old graphics and the character creator.

  10. My literal thoughts of the benchmark was omg this is sooo much better than the base game i no longer meed hd texture mods as much. Hope they fix certain issues like the eyes for the actual release. Cant wait.

But people got carried away. The benchmark was supposed to be a tech demo test. The fact he even had to address this is crazy to me. We dont deserve yoshi p

  11. We all appreciate how attentive YoshiP is to addressing issues. But to those demanding some of these changes….realize you are causing this amazing man so much stress over five effing white pixels in an eyeball. Seriously. For one second, sit outside of yourself and really look at this situation. My god.

  12. Could absolutely believe that it's breaking our "imagination" filter, and we need to wait for a mental update.
Would also explain why we can't see the described issues when looking at other peoples characters, or when others look at ours.

  13. I think people should chill out about the benchmark, it's a benchmark. It's purpose is only to test out your gear, it's not a demo. I think that's what people are getting confused about.

  14. I may be crazy but I think a lot of the 14 community are spoiled and entitled. The bench looked fine for what the goal was, testing computers. And the lala teeth look more like real teeth imo

  15. I just want better color options for eyes and lips. More vibrant options, moreso for lips in this regard. I swear every lip color is very diluted. I can't have a red lip matching my character, it's like…. red/pink or on the complete opposite end where it's both too dark and also just weird shades in general

  16. i mean the bench mark was just a demo its not gonna be the finale product it is handy for getting a view pointers from the player base i do think there where to manny poeple that thought the benchmark was gonna be a preview of the final product.
