  1. "At this point." We cannot rest easy. All they said is that NFTs won't be added to FF XIV right now. That does not mean that NFTs won't be added at a future date. Words used are critical and they've done nothing to assuage my worry about NFTs making it into FF XIV at some point.

  2. I love FF and Yoshi P, but he said "At this time" so that to me says its not 100% guaranteed that they won't be NFT's. I hope I'm wrong, but if they don't intend to use NFT's they would have said "They have no intentions of using NFT's at all in FF".

  3. It was implied that they'll likely develop a game or games around the idea of NFTs and what I am thinking is new IPs first. While he did say no NFTs in XIV, I would also not expect them in say XVI.
What I would expect is a game developed from the ground up with NFTs in mind and something they will test this business model on.
It will depend on how well or bad that will do for them to bring it over to more established IPs.

Just a theory tho, I could be completely wrong. Just happy to hear none of that will be in XIV, at least for the forseeable future.

  4. Yoshida isn't just going to say live on a Square Enix stream or any public interview that he hates NFTs and thinks Matsuda is being dumb. Feels like this should be common sense. He's just going to tell us the truth that he is in command of FFXIV and they will not be in his game, while also being forced to dance around questions like "Do you hate NFTs?" because it would just cause unnecessary inner turmoil with a CEO that is clearly on board with that pyramid scheme. If he's gonna convince Matsuda to quit this path, it will be behind closed doors, not with foolish public statements that will cause controversy. If not there, then the players will have to vote with their wallets on the next title they release with NFTs and complain on social platforms.

  5. The manner in which big business is trying to introduce NFTs to the gaming world is terrible. NFTs in a gaming space need to be for the average gamer. Giving them the ability to make a bit while gaming and in some countries, severely help people’s economic situation. Introducing a commercially hyped, in-organic pumped NFT project that you sell to your loyal gaming community so you can cash grab isn’t at all what it should be.
Seriously, good on them for not taking that bait.

  6. You DID notice the get-out clause here "at this time" .. I'm sure AT THIS TIME there are no plans but history tells us over and over and over again this phrase is used as a defense to the "you lied" accusations when they DO do it some time in the future.

This is NOT a catagorical statement it will NEVER happen, even just under YOshi's watch .. he can't give such an assurance , he's a board member but does not have a veto on such things.

  7. I think if NFT in SE is a thing, I'll say they'll make a new IP on it from CBU4 (or was it 5?) who take care of all the mobile gaming title. Doubt it is going to be for CBU1 and 3 group at least.

  8. Thank Goodness! I watched my friends waste their lives away playing NFTs games for cents. It's depressing. They have to meet a quota from a manager? What is this some kind of illegal part-time job? No contracts? No accountability? Honestly, all NFT games deserve to burn in hell.
