What would it take to make the TBN hype true?
I was actually planning on maining DRK in DT but switched back to paladin for obvious reasons. The one thing I miss is being able to use my gap closer as a gap closer. I would kill for no damage on intervene. PLD might actually be perfect to me with that change.
What if gap closers only did damage beyond 5 yalms?
you mentioned paladins needing to cast stone skin on themselves as mit but didnt mention that the cast would commonly get interrupted by a light breeze damaging you.
I called this job's poor design all the way back in shadowbringers…look at where we are now.
I spent pretty much the same amount of hours on DRK. I love the themes, the story/lore & even the animations (granted they reused animations in the latest expansions with flood of shadow = shadowbringer). I love everything except how it plays. The small problems only grew bigger. The job is just bad. It's a pathetic excuse of a tank & i really do hate people comparing dmg numbers when how a job plays matters more. It's pathetic in dungeons & just isnt fun in raids.
I can only hope for a rework but I've sighed the same way he has. You just gotta give it up. Play GNB for it actually just a better version of DRK's dmg tank identity.
I love DRK. I really want to love this job & play it. But I just sigh in disappointment like that dude every time & it's being tiring.
I want DRK to get some of the coolest animations & coolest job design love like they've given to the other tanks. I want DRK to be great.
Maybe one day we will get a rework.
I hate dmg on gapcloser, so removing that was good. But if you're gonna change the animation, it has to be at least as snappy as the old one, it's one of the most important thing about a gap closer
When they combined blood weapon and delirium I was like "oh 3 stacks only? They'll give 1000 mp each right to match the previous blood weapon gain.. right?"
The thing is about tanks damage is that gnb is only top because it pumps so much more under buffs that its naturally higher dps than the others, take away buff windows, say like ultimates with phase change downtime, then war and drk are just significantly better because they pump damage every 1 minute, not relying on a 2m cd that is the cause for higher dmg because it obv naturally aligns under buff windows, where gunbreaker needs its buildup of carts to then burst that drk and war do not need that downtime does not affect drk/war but detrimentally affects gnb. I remember having to AOE combo in p12s p1 before adds / LC so that i had carts to burst on re entry
I went to gun breaker even though I've mained DRK since HW having the best damage the crazy amount of ogcd they had really made me enjoy the job but gun breaker is the closest to that now

Either they need to design the raids around DRK, or DRK should change. For example, p6s double buster was physical on MT and magical on OT, which means DRK could take the magic portion for free 20% mit. I'm not saying every fight should always have magical tank buster, but it should be more balanced than m1s or m3s for example.
Mp issues, I think that's easily fixed by just changing numbers? But I'm not sure about the math on that.
I would prefer if they kept the uniqueness about DRK (mp management, magic damage tank and short cd that can help the party) instead of giving it corundum 2. TBN costs slightly less mp, is slightly shorter cd, something like that.
The only way to fix TBN is just give the ability to get a free charge of TBN. If you want to use TBN whenever you want, its gonna cost MP. 1-2-3 bam! Free charge on a timer. Didn't use the free charge but you completed 1-2-3 again? Resets the timer.
That's it, that's all they got to do.
Never understood why gap abilities had damage on them. I mean the removed the damage from stuns a million years ago for a similar reason, then they just brought it back in a different version and then removed half of them. Dawntrail really is showing cracks, FF14 needs big changes.

Remove mana requirement from TBN, give it 2 stacks, and if the shield pops, have it deal potency equal to Edge and make it regen like Kardia.
Theres no point to play drk anymore when warrior just does it all with a consistent job/aesthetics design. DRK makes no sense right now conceptually. They need to go back to the drawing board and give it a new combat concept if they're just gonna keep butchering it.

Was a DRK tank since I started in EW, only job I liked and DT broke me and dropped it. So lucky they added Viper bc now I only like it. Can't wait for drk rework enough
I think more people should realise that healers and tanks should not be super spammy with ogcd during burst windows, if that happens then during 2mins you wouldn't want to ogcd heal/mit. I'm not saying there is be no weaving but there should also be room for tank mit or healer ogcd if required, this is a problem for previous astro to some degree until all cards are given, it is a smaller scale issue with SCH with 6 energy drains, albeit haveing the option to ruin instead of broil for an ogcd heal.
Whilst for dps, their priority is killing the boss, being spammy and more optimal dps play is kind of the point.
BLM should redesign and not rework too.
Lvl it to 100 and never use again till next expansion.

I adore dark knight, I have mained it since stormblood but I'm at the end of my tether and praying for a heavy tweak/rework like WAR got in 4.1 or PLD in 5.3

DRK main. It's fine. Stop crying about a job that isn't even your main. It's been like 5 expansions and nobody cares man. The only people who have trouble with TBN are bad at DRK. We also don't have to use blood gage for esteem now. It could use a minor rebalancing but otherwise it is what it always has been. A lot of fun to play.
the Blood weapon component of Delirium being only 3 hits shouldn't even be effected by the Torcleaver combo. it's 2 separated effects that are granted by Delirium. they could make the BW part last for 10 hits if they wanted without needing to touch on the Delirium part.
and with that said it's easily fixable if they actually want to.
I might be the only one who thinks this but I think a core issue for DRK is Edge of Shadow and how it eats your entire MP bar. As long as DRK requires you to store maximum number of hits per burst for this skill, it will never be interesting at the same time. Blood doesn't need to be managed, Darkside doesn't need to be managed, and soon if TBN loses it's MP cost then even MP will no longer need to be managed leaving DRK in this stale braindead state imo.
I'd personally like to see Edge have a cooldown so it wasn't required to spam this during burst windows. It could open up other/new/reworked skills to use MP like Dark Mind, or an improved Salted Earth/Abyssal Drain or… something new. TBN would feel better to use if you didn't cringe every time it failed to proc. Remove the proc and remove the spamability of Edge and now it's a fine ability. It doesn't need to be 25 seconds like every tank. Maybe Dark Mind uses MP gives you some Mit and a shield. Instead of trying to push Drk into a self heal role maybe shift it to being more on shields.
Being that I'm like the only one who says this… I"m probably wrong but I'd start with that if it was up to me.
We need to start blasting the forums and shit to get DRK fixed. The job shouldn't have to wait another 2ish years to get fixed. Just because it's barely working, doesn't mean it's working well. I'm maining DRK this expansion so i'm already overdosing on copium, and it sucks that some of my abilities are useless in certain fights or I'm missing mits in lower level content. People will say "Well, X did it without it" all I gotta say is "So?" Just because some else did it, doesn't mean everyone else can.
I must say, PLD has Circle of scorn and Expiation and they send both, why do DRK's need to be tied together?

Why not change TBN cost to the blood gauge and slap on a HP regen? Gives the blood gauge more purpose and TBN more purpose as well
Make Carve and spit and Abyssal drain both cost 3000 mp and remove the cooldown and make them both heal like 600 potency (maybe more, i'd need to see the numbers) and make them the same damage as Edge and Flood but they won't refresh darkside. Would add some self healing and add some thought to the darkside timer
