  1. The PLD does use royal authority near the end of the benchmark trailer. Still cant say that it confirms the job action on account that it was during the staged fight sequence with the PLD, Zenos and Alisaie.

  2. Why wouldn't they show goring when royal combo is for mp regen. The point of the showcase is to give an idea of how the new moves could be used in rotation. Doesn't really matter if it's the royal combo or goring they are not the new moves. Highly doubt royal or atonement are gone.

  3. The confiteor will probably just upgrade your next goring combo. If you look closely, the last hit applies goring. So the rotation will stay the same it is now. Your first goring after confiteor will just be upgraded (much like Raiden Thrust from DRG)

  4. I doubt they removed Atonement just because they only added it in Shadowbringers.

It sucks that we aren't getting an AoE Atonement spender imo. TEA on PLD is suffering as the only tank that wants to do their single target rotation at 2 targets and swapping from single target to AoE in fights where you do that is jank. Some sort of AoE Atonement would fix that.

  5. That confiteor has to proc sword oath stacks or something man. No way they are adding more buttons. I can definitely see it being a special change to atonement for those next 3 uses. Like fell cleaves changing to inner chaos.

  6. I'm guessing that the new Confiteor combo is a replacement for the Goring Blade combo after landing Confiteor, judging by the fact that the Goring Blade dot continues with its execution.

  7. Here's my thoughts: Royal Authority + Sword Oath still exists, and Atonement still exists. Goring Blade gets re-timed so that an extended Confetior combo starter can be used. Confetior will give Sword Oath II, and the Atonement button changes into the Unlimited Bladeworks stuff and cycle through the 3 abilities. As for the rotation, idk, we'll have to see. Who knows. Paladin rotation has always been a bit off for whatever reason despite being very simple.

  8. I'm pretty sure Royal and Atonement exist. What I think is going to happen is that the Confiteor "Combo" will replace the unbuffed Goring blade – refreshing or reapplying the buff on the successful use of the Confiteor 4 move where you must do all of the moves in sequence and not drop the combo, forcing you to do all four of them.

The rotation I believe would be:

Fast – (fof) riot – Goring – fast -riot – royal – atone x3 – fast – riot – goring (end fof) Req – Holy Spirit x4 – Confiteor (activate Confiteor combo with Sword Oath II stacks or some shit) – Confitti 2 – confetti 3 – confetti 4 – (goring reapplied with Confetti 4) – fast – riot – royal – atone x3 – fast – (fof) -riot – goring – REPEAT.

You basically get more potency and apply the goring dot, which makes sense given that these are new moves and usually with the addition of something new, it doesn't just zero sum and end up with the SAME result (otherwise, why fucking make three new confiteor moves, that would be utterly fucking retarded, might as well just not have it imho), rather it offers something different and a reason to use the new stuff versus just sticking with the old stuff.

It just trims that unbuffed goring blade out of the rotation and streamlines it a bit while maintaining the same rotation pattern, so by trimming out those three GCDs for the unbuffed goring at the end of Req phase, you just have the three confetti's instead.

  9. Just replace 3x holy spirit with the new confiti combo. rotation stays exactly the same you just cast 1 HS, confiti, then the 3 new confiti spells and its right back to the old rotation.

  10. Hello Xeno. If you read this, I just want to see that I appreciate everything you do for new players just like me. I have never played an mmo before but with your guides and tips, it has been a much easier job to understand everything.
Would you ever consider doing more guides for the other classes as well? Thanks strumer.

If not, I bet it is Rich's fault strumer … Madge just kidding

  11. I dont think attonement is gone. What I think they did was extend the Goring blade DOT so you dont have to peeform another goring to refresh the DoT before requiescat. Making it viable to perform your entire rotation before refreshing the DoT and by removing 3 GCD's (2nd goring combo) they added them back with the confiteor ender.

PLD abilities seems to be more streamlined (and flashy) rotation. I believe the new rotaion to be goring into royal authority into atonement the requiescat during you fight or flight timer then 3x holy spirit ending in confiteor combo, and back again to goring to refresh the DoT. I think..could be totally wrong tho..

  12. How do we know that the 4 atonement rotation was unintended? Did they say that? And is it something they would want to change because they think it makes Paladin too powerful? I've been a Paladin main since I started playing back in 2017. I want more buttons not less.

  13. So here's the changes as I've seen them.
    1. Goring blade duration is extended
    2. Some sort of upgrade towards Spirits Within. Still recovers MP. Likely added in some sort of side effect rather than just more damage as it's a rather forgettable ability to the kit, but who knows.
    3. Requiescat is a charge ability now, like Inner Release. You can see the debuff wear off as he casts Holy Circle. Lasts for 3 spell casts and unlocks Confiteor (same manner as the new "Fall Cleave" finisher, and does NOT need Req/Inner Release to be active to use). Speculation: it probably reduces/eliminates MP costs as well like IR/Delirium do.
3.5 Looking at it again, it seems that there is a slightly new animation added to HSpirit/HCircle that looks like a healing effect. Might be an effect of Req charges or from Clemency
    4. Confiteor I is oGCD now. You can see the blue aura when he casts it, meaning its an off global ability. It will unlock the new Confiteor II, III, and IV.
    5. Confiteor II/III/IV are GCD and will either be a one-button consolidated skill like Gnashing Fang and replace Atonement, or it will replace the buttons on your standard 1-2-3. These skills also recover MP with each hit as seen by the MP siphon effect. They are also definitely spells due to the casting animation being the same as the other spell casts (Conva/HSpirit/HCircle) with a white flash effect upon cast w/ no yellow aura.
    6. Shelltron is getting an upgrade as part of the new Tank CD timing effects they're adding. Paladin's upgrade to Shelltron is likely going to be an upgrade to Passage of Arms if you activate it quickly after Shelltron. The effect is unknown but it might increase mitigation, a small barrier, or enhance party mitigation. I do NOT see any HoT effects at any point. The animation of PoA is also the same as current so it must be the case that ShellT->PoA is the new Tank CD effect for it, as these showcases are displaying the new/changed abilities, not all of the kit. Royal Authority and Atonement are very likely to still be apart of the kit.

  14. My guess is that they didn't show Royal Authority because likely nothing on it changed. After all, really cannot comfortably remove that ability because it's PLD's level 60 ability that completes it's combo. But I cannot confidently say Atonement has remained because the Sword Oath mechanic could have been repurposed into those three holy sword attacks after Confitier. I just think it's a safer assumption given that PLD is on a strict rotation (design wise) and they added these three new GCDs. They showed Goring Blade likely because something on it changed like maybe an increased potency. And I hope this new Spirits Within isn't tied to your HP anymore.

  15. I'm so glad you brought up FF Tactics, swordskills is what ive been calling them and wanted since we got Conf. Everyone else is just like "Unlimited blade works!"

  16. I'm not sure if I've got just confirmation bias or not because I've been wishing for it for two expansions now: I feel like Spirits Within looks very different here. Like changed or upgraded. I desperately hope that it removes the HP scaling potency off of it. It's the only skill in the game that still affects your HP/is affected by your HP in a negative way. Blood for Blood was changed and Spirits should have been changed at the same time, but at least I can hope that this is finally that change.

  17. I wonder if maybe the new combo shares a button with current atonement. Maybe confetior acts like RA now in that using it just gives you either three stacks of something to burn on the new combo or morphs atonement into a one-button combo you presss 3 times.
