I’m on a mission to play every single FF14 role and job?? I recently started astrologian at the beginning of Heavensward but hadn’t yet done anything meaningful on it. Until now! Healing ifrit extreme was incredibly fun and satisfying for me. I can’t wait to heal more and tank more in the future – potentially in Alexander

and that's at 50 where AST is literally braindead lol lmao
You get used to it. You learn it in casual content up until it's muscle memory and after that you just have to learn the fights when going to harder content cause you'll be ready to react to disaster, fast😅 just like any other job
In the end, I think you've done pretty well. The only thing you need to be more aware of, is the fact that you have a cohealer and that he'll be rezzing also. looking at your party and realizing that you're hard cast rezzing someone your cohealer already rezzed is a must.
Timing will be a lot more important in savage raiding.
Also, keeping your lucid dream on cd is a huge help
In regard to being 'better than 99% of healers" I think there's something to be said for you taking mechanics somewhat seriously and spending energy on finding ways to make the run go smoother. It's hard to say at level 50 if the cooldown usage and other healer-specific mechanics were optimized but the general optimization counts for a LOT when you're talking about the overall value of a person's contribution. But all that said, it sounds like you also put in the effort on healer-specific optimization as well.
I've mentored this fight a number of times and I think even experienced healers tend to slack off on the debuff. I usually end up tanking so I don't want to micromanage the healer positioning when I've got my own debuffs to worry about and the possibility of getting a chain. I can't tell you how many times we've been working our way around the room between each cluster of nails and run headfirst into a healer blast wave. And yeah, maybe that's kind of on us but I think it'd have made more sense if the healer was paying attention to the group's progress and moving out of their way. It's not like you have much choice when you've only got nails left in that area.
Where The heal's ? 😂
Nice use of rescue in the beginning for I'm assuming uptime.
Quick tip about Synastry, it only works with single-target GCD heals like Benefic II. If you mouse over your skills, GCD healing skills are marked as Spells while oGCD are classified as Abilities. Cheers on your Ifrit clear!
Congratz! Enjoying watching your continuing journey. Glad you're still enjoying it so much and looking forward to seeing more.
I've played both games at the highest level and I have to say FF healing in its current state is way easier than wow healing.
I used to like astero ..until the devs said they are revamping the whole class, I hate when they do that, so im maining White mage.
Progging this at launch was so fun. Before this healers didn't really have mechanics to worry about besides tank busters and AoE damage. Managing the explosions was a lot of fun!
10:45 We aren't being nice XD, we're just shidding on the turbo-casual player-base of FFXIV. Friendly jabs is all. Healing is so much fun in prog.
Learning Astrologian is gonna be worth it. Soon you'll just time your glitter bomb of healing and shields and meteor showers
Try Sage when you finally get to 70. It’s so damn fun and you get friggin lasers.
Hey Psy, just want to tell you about a function that makes healing 100x easier for me personally. Its called "Mouse Over Action", you can set up a macro with 14 lines of <mo> to simulate a queue (ofiaial way) or alternatively (not recomended when streaming) is to use the QuickLaunch with Mouse Over Action plugin that makes the skill queue up when using, this way you can heal alies and throw cards without the need to change targets. As a astro which is a high APM job this makes the gameplay so much smooth and easier.
Low level healing is a whole different kinda beast and I find it pretty fun to have so little tools
There are definitely harder fights to heal, but probably one of the hardest extremes for sure. With your very limited toolkit at 50 and how much damage is going out around the arena and just how spread out people end up it really is challenging. Definitely a good/harder fight for your first piece of hard healing content. You did great.
Also synastry is kind of a noob trap, you're not missing out. It's not useless, but you can honestly just forget it exists and be fine.
Ahem, T for teen, that's a 13 year old's game. 🤣
Level 50 Healing on Min ilvl no echo is tough
ABC dude you gotta keep casting. practice slidecast walking around to move around the arena
