WoW players be like… "YoU doN'T KnOW MECHANICS!? whY HavEn'T YoU waTChed iT 0n YOUTUBE?!?!" Uhh… why do I have to resort to a third party to learn the mechanics of the game? Also, why don't you just give me a brief run-down on the mechanics rather than flaming me & not being co-operative till I've watched a YT video for 5+ minutes mid LFR or dungeon… XD
Have a connection to proving grounds when a player gets enough downvotes. It just drops a "Class quest" for refesher training into the quest log…..click on the quest, and a teleport takes you to proving grounds. Pass the quest get teleported back to where it kidnapped you from.
I like how you feel important in ff14 unlike WoW
i remember when heroic taught you mechanics and when normal dungeons were hard pre nerf in classic orignal days. Now you have normal which you dont ever need to step into, heroic which is easy mode spam and mythic 0 which is basically heroic now, i wish they would just cut all the fat go back to normal dungeons being hard and heroic being hardest pre raid content instead of mythic + treadmills.
Shadowbringers especially pushed players in regards to "git gud" on matchmade dungeons and trials. I dug it.
3:15 Thats because of the way level and item sync works, its absolutely garbage, level 80 with the best gear can have more hp and more damage than someone who is ten levels higher than the trial/dungeon. Old fights should still pose a challenge but now they don't due to this broken system, in endwalker it may be fixed from the stat squish they're doing.
This is giving too much praise to XIV but they're pretty new to the game and coming from one even worse so I'll cut them some slack. XIV doesn't teach you nearly well enough and a lot modern mechanics seem to be made to gotcha the first time you see them without very good feedback on what exactly is going on and players are absolutely terrible. Matt definitely isn't experienced enough to realize just how bad people are and how often it's SE's fault. It's better than WoW but they'll see as they improve how bad it really is. One thing XIV doesn't have that WoW does is the adventurer journal that actually explains mechanics per role what you have to look out for that XIV should absolutely implement. There is a lot of streamlined visual language but it is by no means perfect and they could do a lot more.
I just came back after not having played since early ShB and I'm an experienced savage raider. I was completely baffled by in bozja, delebrum, and zadnor by what I was supposed to do on sight with many of the mechanics and how often fully geared players are still completely failing across all content. They're not difficult in the least bit once you know what they do but have extremely poor clarity and SE asks very little of the players to improve.
Sorry, Bellular, I'm going to ubsub for the time being. I tried FFXIV and it's not for me and I'm not really interested in getting nothing but FFXIV content on my feed. Take care. 🙂
The toxicity of the wow player base is why I avoid group content in general. I don't even like doing heroics in the queue, let alone trying mythic 0.
Might be wrong here but I really dont think its wow not teaching the mechanics that makes people not good or not do the content. Its everytime anyone searches for a party for anything even the easiest content all they see is parties asking for high ilvl. This serves as a deterrent for anyone to join and those that try just get ignored or not invited.
Mentality in FFXIV is also different. If you ask the mechanic of a particular fight people will happily explain it to you. In wow you either get shunned or kicked from the group.
I have the most ridiculous examples for wow while trying to get people to play. ex: We were doing some low level dungeons through the finder and he didn't realize that he didn't get ported (I think it had to do with him being on my mount) to the dungeon and in 2 minutes of the party being teleported everyone kicked him from the group, no questions asked.
This makes people not want to play the group content and make them afraid to do it.
It wasnt LFR or LFG that broke the wow's communities it was the people themselves.
WoW and FF could both take from Guild Wars 2 and start using iframes to make the combat way more interesting.
tbh i hated the "proving grounds" in WoW and not much of a fan of it in FFXIV either.
i find that in FFXIV if you just say in chat "its my first time here" ppl are more understanding and wont go full r3tard at you for making mistakes. my issue is more based around lat/ping but that gets solved next year with AU/NZ servers for FFXIV. the community in FFXIV is less "toxic" compared to WoW
I'll be real FFXIV is horrible at teaching people how to play. Seems like everyday i run into ninjas who dont know what trick attack is, healers who sit there and do nothing and heal once in a blue moon, tanks not even entertaining the thought od cooldowns, it is just not good.
The duty finder experience is just bad on ff because of this, if youre a vet like me you want to cry often. And pointing out bad stuff people are doing is dangerous, as you risk being reported, even if you do it in a polite manner
two levels for a single dungeon? They made some major exp boosts with the last expansion…
While I think Hall of Novice was a great start but I think we need a more advanced thing for more advanced machanics, but is just me
Used to be a time when you had to get Silver in your role proving grounds in order to queue
FF14 have the "ECO" system if party die to much the may get a HP and DPS buff, WoW have not
and even if you don't ever want to play correctly, nobody can tell you otherwise cuz they'll get BANNEDX
My only gripe is novice hall doesn't teach people how to Limit Break.
I actually accidentally found this place at level 13. QuIck and easy tutorials. You also get some really good armor pieces for doing it.
Where are you streaming these podcasts?
It's not only that but the devs won't release and instance they haven't cleared themselves in 14. Like they actually play the game and our director is actually a good parser lol
