FF14 is not an MMORPG, it is an RPGMMO
“Wouldn’t say “difficult” fights”
Matt have you met our lord and savior Red Comet? Legend has it he was born a regular yellow chocobo but became red off the blood of all of his victims.
Yeah, the evangelist sect of the 14 community CAN be 1-track minded whenever they hear any criticism about the game specially from "the new guys". They just see red whenever any criticism is targeted towards the game.
Potd -> hoh -> Bozja works for me. I mix in dungeons
Imagine the brilliance of the marketing of selling level boosts though. "We are going to charge you for the game. Charge you per month to play the game. Oh, don't want to play the game? We will charge you to skip playing the game, too!"
Delubrum Reginae is the Shrine of the Queen, yeah.
You can power level alt jobs who wants to spend another 200/300 hours leveling an alt job after doing all the story, people need to chill
I think as a community we are just afraid of being drowned out by the flood. Many of us left WoW for XIV many many years ago. We developed our own way of doing things. Maybe it is a silly fear but, it is something I can understand.
I am happy the game is growing of course. Have taken on an army of new sprouts and it has been damn fun to watch them grow in a way. There is just a culture shock on both sides of the table right now.
This is pretty silly. As a long time FF14 player my read on the negativity is people interpreting this as "skip the story, level as fast as possible at all costs" and yeah, that's bad advice because the MSQ is great.. BUT! That's not what was actually said here. The advice was mostly about leveling up alts and stuff and to be fair, yeah, power level that nonsense. Obviously don't skip your job quests because many of them have great storylines in and of themselves but in-between that, who wants to slow boat farming daily roulettes in the leveling queue or POTD? ewwww. Just get it over with ASAP.
I couldn't stand the way FF14 tells their story. It just felt too slow-paced for me. So, I brought a skip(Years ago). Talking about it with other FF14 players always gave me shit about it. I felt like that is the weirdest thing to be toxic about.
remember fellow gameplay enthusiasts, dont let anyone tell u how u should enjoy a game, if u dont wanna see the story, then fuck it, but to be fair try it, because if u get invested in it it sure makes the MSQ a lot more bearable
To be honest, I find the vocal players of FF14 a bit off-putting. They are viciously aggressive towards anyone who has a view contrary to theirs in regards to FF14 and also carry a sense of superiority about the game. While FF14 is a good MMO, it has a crap ton of flaws and is not leagues better than many other games out there. I personally just don't care much for it, but if others do that is great and fine.
I don't know which FFXIV they play where people don't powerlevel, because whenever I get to PotD 51-60 there's always at least one zombie in my party who is on their 40th run of the day just because someone on discord found out it's the most time-efficient way to level up. Then they burn themselves out on PotD and complain on reddit that it is bad content, but I disgress.
In all fairness, jobs other than Blue mage can't be power leveled. They don't receive the xp boost that blue does for killing a significantly higher level enemy.
However, the game has built in mechanics to speed up leveling alt jobs to save you time for the exact reason you bring up. As long as they are a lower level than another job, they receive a small XP boost called an Armoury bonus. Combine that with the items that help get you up to lvl 30 quickly, and you're halfway there. You also have Palace of the Dead as well + all the roulettes, which give an insane amount of xp every day if you use them and get the adventurer in need bonus. You also have the first clear bonus on guild hests. Which is available per class, meaning you will always get that bonus when leveling a new job even if you've done the guildhests on another one before.
This is all not counting fc boosts and xp boosts you can get from your grand company and squadron.
It took me a little over a week to take my Dark Knight from 30 to 80 by just doing roulettes. I like that this game does not waste my time with unnecessary grinds. Too many MMOs try to keep me logged in forever. This one doesn't.
Who cares how someone else levels? As long as you perform your role in multiplayer content, i dont care how you got to that point.
You guys should collaborate with other steamers and make a full 48man for delubrum savage.
laughs maniacally
0:44 "Into our Game" love that
Everyone powerlevels their alt jobs.
What's even "properly" leveling for an alt job? Going to each zone and doing random quests? Daily quests? Doing dungeon roulettes? FATEs? I'm confused. At least with Bozja you can't even do it until you're already over level 71 and it kind of forces you to learn how to play your job at least at a rudimentary level if you don't want to be dead and sad all the time.
I skipped past to Heavensward since the vanilla questing was so damn boring. FF14 is a solid and fun game once you get past that part of the game, the story is still weird and a bit long for my liking so I started skipping story too, still had fun in the game purely on a gameplay standpoint.
I just enjoy the game. I play this game like it’s any other stand alone FF game, whenever I get to something I do it then, but until then I’m getting my BIS on my NIN main haha but I do love that FCs give exp bonus, all good has a +3% exp boost and when you get a job to level cap or it’s your highest, then all other alt jobs you play get a boost cause it’s lower level. It’s all good fun
The story of FF is >literally< shit Matt stop
Lol , people are hilarious. If you’re getting triggered over how people choose to level you’re an idiot.
