  1. Thank you for putting my fears to rest. When SE CEO told about NFT plans, I was shocked and appalled. NFTs in FFXIV would be a death sentence to the game. Now I strongly believe we won't see them corrupting the game people love so much. With Yoshi-P also handling FFXVI, I believe they stay out from there. Hopefully it will be the same for FFVII Remake Part 2.

  2. "NFTs are Non-fungible tomestones. It is strongly hinted NFTs are what triggered the 4th umbral calamity. With the growing popularity of NFTs the people drained far too much aether from the lands. Seeking new power, they begged Amon to solve the energy crisis. This led to Amon building the crystal tower and growing discontent with how his fellow Allag wallowed away in decadence, he revived the first emperor Xande. With Xande, Allag people were distracted by war but that only staved their NFT greed. Upon hearing that his own likeness would be minted on a new NFT, Xande found all life to be meaningless seeking to connect the void and usher an end." 3. You can think of NFT as something like a product they are going to sell.

If nobody buys, then it will send a signal that all the time and effort and resources they sunk into making that thing, isn't earning them the revenue they want, then they will drop the idea.

The problem is if there's a subset of the population out there who still goes ahead and buys it, and that gives an impression of customer demand. Currently because NFT is a trendy topic, of course companies want to cash in on the bandwagon, but the only way to make them stop is to precisely give them no cash, vote with your wallet.

But it's never that simple, the art of selling things to people is all about making things that appeal to them so they will eagerly add to cart. NFTs are so easy to mock now because its just silly jpeg images most of the time. Now imagine a new mount or glamour item on mogstation that looks really nice, but can only be purchased as a NFT. Who among the 25 million strong fanbase will have the willpower to boycott it? Or who will be like "you know yeah NFTs are bad and all but I support yoshiP so i can bend my rules and principles for him, etc"

  4. I've watched Rurikan's video yesterday of him reacting to Devin Nash video on NFT. Clearly there is still a lot of things he does not know about how it works, it's such a shame. I hope content creators will be responsible enough to do the appropriate research before giving their take on this. I'm not in favor of NFT based on what i personally researched about it. It's not the technology, it's how it will be implemented that concerns me. Without proper regulation, it can really be predetory based on what i have learned personally so far.

  5. Well, one thing this topic made sure of is that now all/many players have gone and researched the topic – I know I did. Whatever reasons one might have to buy NFTs, I dont see them improving any game. I can understand people buying digital art – stealing from artists is a blight and anything that can be done to protect their claim on their creations is a good thing. But to implement the same system in a game? Am I the only one thinking thats a stretch?

  6. Finally someone who explained NFT application in video game, instead of Asmongold's "Buy 6 monkey JPEG to unlock raid".

Also one of the reason why FFXIV (and to some extent WOW) is not NFT-friendly is because of their soulbind system, the best thing about NFT is the open market/public trade aspect of it, for a game to truely embrace NFT, Soulbind system would be a negative.

  7. NFTs actually stands for No F'ing Testicles.
its sad, but all they can do is ask for your pity. So when you see someone talking about how good NFTs are. just let them know you care by saying "Sorry to hear about your balls bro."
