Why I Quit FFXIV

  1. Oh man, if you enjoyed ARR more than HW, stormblood is gonna be a blast. I'm in the middle of the 2nd or the 3rd major zone of Shadowbringers (the forest one with Yshtola). And well, I still like Stormblood far more than Shadowbringers. Don't get me wrong, I love Shadowbringers. It's awesome but the intrigue of Stormblood is just on another level. You feel less in control of everything and no one gives a shit about you being WoL. Sure you kick some ass but you can't be everywhere and you're just one person. And well there are enemies that can and will kick your ass whenever they can. While ShB paint you as the great hero you are and the fate of the world rests on your shoulders. And this gives me too much of "Champion of Azeroth" vibes which I'm kinda sick of. And by no means I'm shitting on the whole expansion which I haven't experienced wholly yet. Just saying there were themes in SB I enjoyed more.

  2. Yeah I think the streaming part contributed to it by putting stress on you while doing story live (reading aloud for the stream and trying to keep up with chat) I would say take your time with it. I see a lot of content creators stream their msq experience and some times it gets hampered by input from other players who want the content creator to feel exactly the same way they did when they experienced it. just kick back relax, don't think of what's coming next, don't listen to how players describe what's coming next and experience it on a clean slate.
    Cheers man (Also Third)

  3. Awww, I love your musing on the Story of 14. Welp, waiting for when you play it again can't be worse than waiting for the next Content Patch so i am looking forward to that, for months if necessary

  4. This is why I have a huge problem with people running with the narrator how ARR is shit compared to the rest of the game. I do think that HW and on sends the game in a better direction for sure. But I had a blast with ARR. I'm even replaying it on an alt and I'm still enjoying it.

What I will say is that ARR had more of the MMO feel while HW onwards is more of a RPG feel. ARR is more focused on adventuring while the expansions focus on the grander narrative. Whichever floats your boat.

  5. Feel the same way. to level 85. They beat this slow story to death. People never really die. If you do kill them they come back for a long monolog and you have to kill them again. I just can not care about it. I think it is popular because the younger generations that fell in love with it did not have much other storytelling to compare it to. It really is not that good.

I loved playing my Dancer. I thought she was a great refreshing class, job ….. There is so much good in the game. Just move it along already. Please.

  6. I usually just follow my feelings on what I would like to play at the moment. I keep a library of different games installed on my PC so that they are ready when I want them. That said, i usually will play one narrative driven game and one gameplay only game, or somethign like an arpg where i dont care about the story. I usually play the narrative driven game in the evenings and more action based non-narrative games during the day. I'll play them until I lose interest and then move on to something else.

  7. I figured this was the case. People pressuring you to feel a certain way about the story certainly didn't help, I remember you saying it stressed you out a lot when people did that. It seemed like you started playing on the alt stream more than the main since the alt stream is where you can do what you want to do rather than try to live up to expectations of what your main channel is meant to be.

Take as long as you need. When/if you come back, FFXIV will still be here, with even more content to experience at your own pace. 😊

also, my offer for running Coils of Bahamut still stands, not in terms of viewer-to-content creator, but player-to-player. If ever you want to run that in the future, let me know and we can unsync it for story/completion to affect MSQ dialogue or run it MINE for challenge or any combination. I fuckin love those raids and am always excited to help people experience that story. I'm glad you at least got to see the cutscenes for it before your departure/hiatus from the game.

Looking forward to more videos in the mean time. 😀
