  1. I had so much fun in arr when I first started. They streamlined it a lot since the veteran played it that its now enjoyable. Its just that it gets better. They improved the writing, the acting, the gameplay. But ARR (Or stormblood, which is also not as loved) were pretty good time, its just suffering a bit from comparison with the best moments ^^

There should be no rush in this journey, except maybe playing more of it as soon as you can because you cant get enough of it. The game is amazing from the start, it has a nice ambiance, maybe goofy at time, but it appeal to your sense of amazement and discovery, it takes its time to tell its story, place its set ups. I just love it.

  2. Enlightened take, my friend. I will never understand why parts of the community treat ARR like it's grindy and boring and a poor introduction to the story. It's not. If you're a new player, if you're opening your imagination to XIV for the first time, ARR is like a sandbox. Sure, nominally, the threat of the Primals and the Garlean Empire are always looming over your head, but in reality, you can and should take your time in the free trial exploring and familiarizing yourself with the game world. And you will thank yourself in later expansions for doing it, because you'll be able to appreciate what's happening in the story that much more as the adventure gets bigger and the stakes get higher.

  3. I actually just finished ARR (the base story, not the one in 1.X patches) after not playing for 8 months and got really hooked, im actually not doing any of the MSQ rn and I'm just enjoying activities the world has to offer on my own pace

  4. Exactly right, I dont like rush speed running and skip cutscenes either to get to "when it becomes good".
ARR (odd pacing issues aside) is already good, I am so glad you see that and are taking your time with enjoying it 🙏
