  1. Patches go like this.

Base Expac: Tells a continuation of the previous two and 1/2 patches.
.1 to .3 Patches: Wrapping up the story, with .3 setting up the next story.
.4, .5 and .55 Patches: Answers a few more questions, pushes the story forward to the next expansion.

  2. i live and breathe for wow slander . people are coping, saying ‘wow killed wow’ but no, ffxiv killed wow . i get that blizzard was doing everything wrong but that didn’t deter players away and still doesn’t to an extent . they say new world is gonna be the winner, ashes of creation, freaking elder scrolls online for crying out loud . in reality, ffxiv is the one snatching up these wow refugees and this is why we are saying it’s ‘killing’ wow . they aren’t gonna return after endwalker lol . in my opinion, ffxiv is the best mmorpg on the market by far .

  3. I’ll be one of the “well actually” people here, lol, just to clear up some facts. GENERALLY an expansion is wrapped up with the x.3 patch and x.4 starts leading into the story for the next expansion (with the exception being ARR). For Endwalker they’ve said that the story will be completely wrapped up in the base expansion of 6.0, with 6.1 starting the new story – so that’s something different.

Also, the writer for Endwalker didn’t just do the Dark Knight questline but was also the main writer for Shadowbringers, and I’m sure you’ve seen how much people love that.

  4. Usually, the base expac (2.0, 3.0, etc) has the "main story", then the x.1 to x.3 patches tie up all the loose ends, and x.4 and x.5 patches start setting the stage for what's coming in the next expac. Endwalker is going to be different, as they confirmed that 6.0 will leave no loose ends and wrap up the Hydaelyn/Zodiark saga completely. 6.1 is going to be something new already.

  5. I stopped playing WoW and FF and went back to SWTOR. Only stopped playing FF because of how frustrating it is to just sub to the damn game. I hope WoW gets back to the great game it used to be but until then I'll be playing SWTOR

  6. When i watch people play ffxiv its 90% them walking and reading dialogue. I play WoW for more than just reading dialogue and watching cinematics.

Two completely diff games. Lets stop comparing them because we have nothing else to talk about.

  7. No, the story arc isn't like legion from WoW. This is culmination of Final Fantasy history from 1989. People who have been playing the series since then would understand references from it. People who doesn't will only have a frame of reference from FF14. It's much like Avengers End game. Imagine there are people who knew nothing about Thor, Spiderman, Ironman, and other iconic super hero. But became a fan of them because of the avengers movies. And now imagine a people who read comics and knew these heroes before avengers. That's the level of shit we're seeing with Endwalker.
Also to answer the ignorant fool on the right, no, it's not power of love that saves the day. It's hope. You know, the thing that you guys always clings to with WoW. And lacking voice over wasn't because they couldn't afford it. Yoshi P has explained it before that it is because FF14 supports multiple language voice overs. In order to keep the consistent patch cycle, there had to omit few areas for VO due to possibe changes in dialog. When it changes, so those VO in multiple languages. Hence it is more about time than budget.

  8. As a FF player, I really don’t care too much if WoW refugees are here to stay or not.
If you do – cool, welcome, if you don’t – ok, hope you find your own favorite game.
I think FFXIV today stands pretty stable on its own legs and built an audience over quite some time.
There’s obv things I wish for to be changed in the game but I feel like over the years they added the things community asked for – enough for me to feel they get their audience. So overall I’m good and don’t really need the validation of comparing it to WoW.

  9. I wouldn't say FF kills WoW.

More like FF is watching WoW doing a Jackass season where they do all the props at once.
"HI THIS IS ION AND WELCOME TO JACKASS!" Launches self through a two floor tall building

WoW's like that one meme of the guy putting a stick in his bike's wheel, and blaming anyone else for his falling.

  10. I wouldn't say that FF is ahead of WoW by its own merits alone rather than FF is taking advantage of WoW currently killing itself. It's like the fable of "The Tortoise and the Hare" where FF is the tortoise and WoW is the hare. FF is just strutting along, taking it's sweet time while WoW is taking a dirt nap nearby, confident that it can speed past FF at anytime but fails to wake up in time to beat FF to the finish line.

  11. how is this man claiming the islands are one for one copy of another game when we know fuck all about the system. is he claiming some sort of in depth insider knowledge or something? is he yoshi-p's long lost second cousin twice removed, does his dad work for Square Enix?
