What To Do Between Patches in FFXIV – 5 Tips To Enjoy Content Lulls (Spoilers)

5 tips and ideas of things to do between patches and in content lulls in FFXIV.
This is my first real time at current content and being without any MSQ, I’m seeing a lot of my friends take breaks or get burned out, so I wanted to make a quick video about quiet periods in MMOs and the kinda things to do in FFXIV. As we wait on FFXIV patch 6.1 I’m sure there are lots of people asking the same question, what to do between patches in ffxiv and how to keep busy during the content lulls, so hopefully this give some ideas of things to do. This is mostly for newer players, or people new to MMO’s but hopefully its still enjoyable for the average FF14 player!

  1. I log in and do my alliance roulette cause that's what I love to do and I find it super fun. After that I help new ppl or log out and play something else.

Most weeks I don't meet my weekly tome cap and I don't feel bad about that at all. Still play daily tho but only cause I want to.

  2. I actually love the content lulls. Patches are hectic and stressful and everyone is focussed on the one big new thing, but when things calm down and there's nothing brand new, I can just go do random things.
Before EW came out I went through Eureka and got the GC gatherer delivery achievement. After EW I dove into levelling Warrior, and in the past few weeks I've been levelling crafters and hugely enjoying the complete change of pace.
New content is exciting, but I feel like those lulls give me the space to breathe and follow my curiosity!

  3. I watched your videos since 1st part of ARR 😛
Every now and then I got pumped up for something completely different. I remember fishing for a month and collecting all rarest ones for the quest. Then I was collecting TT cards and got nearly all of them (and Endwalker came). Now I am progressing crafting job questslines and Endwalker Trust. There was a time when I was collecting all glams from Crystal Tower series. And I am spending all m Gil to collect all orchestrion rolls. And still… there is so many things to do. If something became too repetitive, there's always something else I didn't do for a months in game. Simple pleasures every day 🙂

  4. Great video! I’m currently leveling up jobs. I really want to get rid of the gear I don’t want, but I kept it all specifically for leveling. It has spilled out of my armory chest, retainer, and saddlebag into my inventory. Then my other retainer has been holding crafting materials I’ve collected over time, so crafters/gatherers will be next. Maybe I’ll dip my toe into savage raids. That still scares me though. XD

  5. Surprisingly, you mentioned my favorite method for getting through a content lull: Unsubscribe. I'm actually unsubscribing today and play Xenoblade. And there's so many other games I want to play. There's so many things people are missing out on because they're stuck playing just the one game.

I've beaten p3s. I'll try to beat p4s after my hiatus.

  6. And once you feel like you've seen everything, you can witness a rp community somewhere! Just see it at first, talk with someone next, and before you realize, you might just enjoy the nightlights! See why people come back to it, and it may happen to be something completely different than what you expected to be.

Just remember one thing: what happens on balmung, stays on balmung.
And don't forget to tune in next thursday on lich for fortuna casin- shilling noises

  7. According to FFCollect, only around 5.4% of the player base has the Triple Triad mount. I am one of those people :)… that alone took MONTHS to complete. It's not just playing cards, it's Raids, Dungeons, FATE Rep, Beast Tribes, EX and Savage fights, it's Eureka and Bozja… and Blue Mage!

I still have a bit of choice paralysis at times, so I find I do best when I have a goal, or friends to go with me. ^_^ and… if I am done with it for a bit? Sure. Set up my Retainers to make me more money, check my house and log out for a bit.

  8. I've been doing reclears with my static, treasure map runs, occasional mount farms and slowly working on PVP achievements.
Personally I'm real cool with just logging on for 4-5 or so hours per week at the moment, lots of singleplayer games to spend time on until next content patch.

I've been packing to relocate countries so catching up on your videos. I'm happy to see you are still having fun. Your bunny boy is great, I really like his look!

  10. Watching you from when you started ARR was so much fun. I have played for a long time, and I was getting kind of bored. It was SO fun to see your reactions and experiences starting the game fresh!

  11. 9:50 No. It is absolutely not. But if you want to kill some time…. like a LOT of time… they fish are there. Waiting. Waiting for the 1.5% weather condition to pop up sometime next week.
