If one is lucky, they may come across a grieving Miqo’te in a graveyard west of Thanalan. What follows is some of the best content in the entire game. Let’s talk about what makes Hildibrand’s quests so funny, and how they elevate slapstick comedy by playing off the animation conventions of large-scale video games.

Thank you!
The problem is, I always expect a rick roll
New video!! Currently in class but I’ll come back to watch it soon
DID YOU KNOW that the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV has a free trial, and includes the entirety of A Realm Reborn AND the award-winning Heavensward expansion up to level 60 with no restrictions on playtime? Sign up, and enjoy Eorzea today!
Sorry someone needed to say it
This whole quest line reminds me of source filmmaker goof videos
Of all the multifaceted topics this game offers you chose Hildibrand?!
Not gonna lie, this is defying expectations and ergo fits Hildibrand perfectly.
Only way this video could've been better is if you did the Manderville Dance. Great work despite that, though! Not enough people really discuss Hildibrand beyond "it's great, you should do the quests"
Your blackboard is a lot bigger than I thought it was.
FFIV feels like this MASSIVE thing happening over the tall fence I live besides. I can hear all the hubbub but I'm not seeing anything.
The Hildebrand quests are my absolute favorite side quest line. I even had the Manderville dance as one of my fave emotes, which means I get to have Genesis Rhapsodos dancing that dance and yes, it is absolutely beautiful. BD
I agree with you, Hildibrand's source film maker face makes me laugh every time I see it, but the reason I find it so funny is because it's the exception, not the rule.
I can only assume you're fighting with your wife about rickrolling, so I'd just like to add: please, never give each other up, and never let each other down.
He looks like someone hired a gmod animator to do his animations.
I have never played ff14. I've never even been big into MMOs before. Yet when all the big budget ads and the free trails have yet to convince me I think this is the video to make me try it out. As soon as I get time to.
I'm not seeing the promised New Frame Plus links. Here's one to the ME: Andromeda video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmLPpcVQFJM
And here's a very important video that should definitely be watched: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ
Good news, patrons of any support level can see me embarrass myself doing the Manderville Dance! The price of my dignity is apparently precisely $1 per month.

This video is glorious.
Whenever I've played what you're talking about, I'm excited to hear your thoughts on it. And, as with this video, when I haven't played what you're talking about, I appreciate how your summary and analysis helps to give me an in-depth look at something I've never/have yet to experience. Thanks!
Fantastic video! And a perspective that I hadn't considered about Hildy's wacky animations! I always hear people talk up how the Hildibrand quests were a place where the animation team could practice and refine things for use at more serious moments… so that has me wondering, would you say that some of the particularly interesting animations eventually seen in Shadowbringers (to be vague so as not to be spoily) get some of THEIR shocking impact from the same sort of principle? Horror rather than comedy?
Oh my god I was just hoping for this lets goo
Never would I imagine that the professor would do a /pose
I think a lot of the funny expressions he makes are also done using the in game emotive faces everyone uses, just stacked multiple times and in weird ways.
Hildibrand’s quests are another reason why FFXIV is the best MMORPG.
Now I need to send this video to my numerous friends who play this game =3
Thank you for making me realise why making Gman from HL2 smile in Garry's Mod was so funny back in the day!
Oh man, you're making more? Now I'm even more driven to get through Stormblood and Shadowbringers so I can't possibly miss out
An important part of the Hildibrand comedy is that in typical Japanese storytelling fashion, the stories are full of mixed moods — so you also get a lot of those "serious" RPG performances right alongside Hildy's shenanigans, only heightening the comedic impact.
(Also legitimately I think he has some of the funniest dialogue I've ever seen, at least in the English translation. The comedic timing exhibited by the text box during some of his missions is unparalleled.)
Damn, the Rick Roll got me, theory of comedy officially proved
Thanks for the vid
proud of my wow killer
You know things are gonna get serious when the professor takes off his suit and flexes!
Oh so it's Machinima/Gmod humour! I get it 😀
Less than a minute in and I’m already laughing 😂
Hey man
I have been watching your content for months,
And i just want to ask a question…
When will you talk about silent hill 2.?
Not forcing you or anything, but you should atleast try that game
