  1. being fairly new to ff14 and starter-class-pugilist biased opinion aside, monk is just so incredibly fun. aside from the downright infectious energy of "punching goes brrrr", the nadi system is genius. it perfectly captures the feeling of having a stamp card where you punch in (hah) your regular combos in exchange for shiny anime attacks. and if you do your stamp cards right you get a SUPER special stamp card with the EXTRA shiny anime attack with sprinkles and cherry of top (phantom rush animation my adored). it does something to my serotonin levels on a fundamental level. ninja mundras just dont give me the same feeling despite being sort-of similar.

  5. I started with Summoner in Shadowbringers and was hyped for the Endwalker rework. While I do think it's a bit overly simple now, I still love it and it's my main. It's simplicity allows me to focus on learning fight mechanics so I can do callouts and not get hit by a single avoidable mechanic (most of the time) every future time I run it
Scholar: Whispering Dawn+Protraction+Resuscitation+Adloquoum+Emergency tactics=a 50-60k shield for a single party member and 30-40k for the rest of the party and I love it. I've been able to basically double my health before
    Machinist…G U N…also throwing a wrench into the enemy's plans
Ninja: decent party support and SO MANY BUTTONS!!! on burst
Dark Knight: while I mostly love the aesthetic and class philosophy, it's also my favorite tank due to being very offense based with a surprising amount of party utility…also TBN and Living Dead just feel great to use

  6. WAR: fell cleave and being nigh immortal in dungeons with blood wetting
PLD: Link (from Zelda) sword spin, ranged magic swords that do Big Damage and having an invicability button. Also esthetic and Cecil FF4 fan.
DRK: TBN, taking nog dmg with big hit, shield break and do dmg. Questline and esthetic and Cecil FF4 fan.
GNB: FF8 nostalgia and the gun mode combo's. Annoying WHM with Superbolide.

    WHM: big heals, holy spam
SCH: Big shields, instant AoE, making people run fast. When Fairy glamming it works so well
AST: the weirder and delayed tactical healing
SGE: flows really nice, instant AoE, Kardia and Eukrasia. Gundam wings. Easy dungeoning.

SAM: big damage, love the moon, love the sheathe/ unsheathe animations.
    DRG: dragonfire dive bombing, aesthetic.
RPR: easy to learn, fast burst, gorgeous animations, satisfying gauges buildup.
NIN: ninjutsu input, feeling like Naruto, biggest possible single hit damage with the Rasen Ice Shuriken.
MNK: fast paced and easier to recover a combo

BLM: oldskool FF, Big Explosions, cool mana management with differing between Astral and umbral
RDM: have to still try, think dualcast will be awesome.
SMN: so easy to play, flashy summon animations. Easier to take to harder content

Didn't do enough ranged to form an opinion on what I like and don't like.

  7. Dualcast is really like one of the most satisfying to use tools in the game, but as someone who started on summoner and felt like it wasn't challenging enough, moving to red mage at level 50 finally gave me the aspect of resource management that I was kind of yearning for, and genuinely got me to stick with the game instead of dropping it

  8. I love playing scholar with friends especially now with the healing carbuncle. My favorite aspect of if it is charging and the calling out that the “buncy beam” has been engaged when using the tether ability

  9. I love the casting animations on the magic dps and healers. i think my favorite animations come from black mage. I like how certain spells charge up differently and how some even push the caster back a bit (Like with flare). black mage makes magic feel very physical which is a big part of what keeps me coming back to it.

Summoner’s Ruin III casting animation is cool, and it’s a shame we barely see it or only see the end of it. It also irks me that phoenix phase doesn't have any unique animations and uses the deathflare animation for one of it's standard actions.

I like Red Mages different animations for their spells although I wish they had different charge-up animations like black mage does.

I like how Astrologian and White Mage float when charging some their spells of their spells. Seeing Glare and Holy actually made me want to start leveling white mage.

All of Sages animations are so cool that I'm not even bothered by the lack of charge animations.

Special mention to Paladin’s casting animation as well. I just wish the payoff for holy spirit was more dynamic like Holy circle. If I could, I would replace the end of holy spirit's animation with intervention's. And also make the spell travel to the target like with intervention or ruin III.

  10. Sir, how dare you talk about things you actually like. This is a place of baseless complaints and negative thinking! How dare you actually talk about the good things about something you enjoy! Any self respecting YouTuber will off-handedly mention they like something and then hyperfixate on the negatives! Absolutely shameless I tell ya!

  11. I love GNB for the absurdity of fighting with an exploding sword, and superbolide cancel macro shenanigans.
White mage for unga bunga healing and of course, the blood lily.

  12. I'll say one something short for each role
GNB: Having to manage weaving defensive cooldowns alongside your burst is gratifying in its own way
NIN: Having a simple filler rotation alongside busy burst helps to focus on both burst and mechanics by giving time to think about how to handle whatever mechs happen at the minute windows, including flexibility of timing ninjutsu uses around times you may otherwise lose uptime.
DRG: Simple GCD rotation alongside short CDs making managing making sure you don't drift geirskogul and high jump/mirage dive a decent challenge
DNC: Like NIN, simple filler alongside trying to stockpile as much stuff as possible for burst can be nice for focusing on mechs.
BLM: I suck at it, but that makes me want to get better at it. And requires good knowledge of the fight to really make sure you keep uptime.
SGE: The ability to mostly get away without GCD healing while also still able use cooldowns like Zoe and Physis II to make good shields when needed.
Okay I did two melees but only because that's my favorite role.

  13. Hmm I dunno I’m glad the other tanks don’t have something like TBN. It’s very on brand for DRK and I don’t think something similar would fit with the others. Except perhaps WAR, being all angy and such >:3

  14. What I like about Scholar is more the feel of it. Planning your strategy before combat and making it pop off without a hitch. It makes me feel smart, like an actual Scholar. Similarly, Black Mage.. you're wielding phenomenal cosmic power, rendering foes into smoking craters.. but at the same time, you're slave to the power you wield. You can't just go in there poppin off explosions. You need to first complete the most sacred of rituals or you pay the price.

I like that kind of stuff.

  15. I started playing FFXIV because of Machinist, and it's been my main job since I unlocked it. I like all three ranged physical jobs, (Bard will always have some bias as my first job, and Dancer's coin-flippy nature is a lot of fun to play around) but Machinist is by far my favorite. The gadgets are cool, I don't mind the lunch box all that much, I get an unstoppable killbot to fight with me, and my LB3 is a satellite laser that obliterates everything in it's path. What's not to love?

  16. As a person who’s constantly switching classes I def have found 1-2 in every role that I genuinely enjoy. Paladin and dark knight , monk and red mage, and Astrologian are so far the classes I have enjoyed the most but I hav yet to try a couple of the classes like dragoon or ninja. I think I’m just one of those who’s always gonna switch around whatever class I prefer just based on whatever I’m feeling at the moment lol.
