  1. Stal's tillana rant LMAO preach it sister all my homies hate new tillana! Making it a saber dance/dotd ready buff would be so much nicer than 50 gauge outright for sure

    Great vid as always Rinon, I enjoyed hearing opinions from top phys ranged players as a phys ranged main myself. My hope is for more "phys ranged mechanics" that require movement away from the boss etc to give us more reason to be there than 1% 😀

Bard on stormblood was so fun but then they changed it a lot in Shadowbringers and i stopped playing it tried Dancer but its too easy i am not a designer but i wish they make Ranged phys better, and god lord if they add a Crossbow character make it like vayne kit from League can have some REALLY nice potential if they do it right

  3. As a bard main I just want to feel like an actual DPS 😅 Overall I’d love more mechanical responsibilities, I think the freedom of movement and range phys range has is very under-utilized in the current tier

  4. phys ranged is my 2nd most played role and it is really sad existing only for that 1% 😀
    what i wish se would do with the jobs is giving them pvp treatment, when you can still walk around while casting your filler gcd, but it's slower.

  5. As a dancer main, I absolutely HATE the tillana change. “Oh what’s that? Your partner is feeding you a crap ton of esprit for 2min? “OH WHATS THAT??? YOU OVERCAPPED?? LMAO SUCKS FOR YOU, FEEL BAD NOW EVEN THOUGH YOU DID NOTHING WRONG GET PUNISHED IDIOT” like part of me doesnt wanna tillana during 2 minute especially if my partner is going sicko mode and feeding me hella hard but then there’s an issue of “oh shit you need to hit tillana cause of raid buffs“BUT YOUR ESPIRIT GAUGE IS FULL AND YOULL FREAKING OVERCAP” i absolutely hate it here. If anything i would love to see it just give a ‘dance of the dawn ready’ proc like how they changed reaper and machinist’s, gauge buttons just…MAN…

  6. I feel like bard could be changed a lot. But my biggest thing for is is, the clashing of every animation. It's old and wild and colorful, doesn't match the new clean magical animations we have from like 90-100. Why is apex arrow a laser beam esk thing while the follow up for it is black and white magical arrows. Just a lot of design choices I don't get in terms of the colors I wish it was more consistent with its animations.

  7. If they lowered the cooldown on Head Graze from 30s to something like 10s then they can add quite a few interrupts to fights, giving phys ranged more utility. They can even keep interject on tanks, but keep the 30 second cooldown so phys ranged is needed in theoretical interrupt-heavy sections.

  8. I really would love Physical Ranged to be more support oriented by offloading more defensive, healing, and support contributions to the party.

    The entire role should have more responsibility for interrupts, roots, or heavy. More mechanics where their mobility is a focus.

    Dancer
    – Lean into the healing aspects of the class with abilities that either directly heal or help boost healing over time effects from other party members

    – A dance that charms enemies into not attacking while slowly moving toward the dancer
    – Shield samba provides a shield

    Bard
    – Help boost direct healing and shielding effects from the party, boost party member movement
    – AoE version of leg graze that slows + heavy
    – Troubadour provides a small sprint effect

    Machinist
    – Lean heavy into machines producing party shields, individual shielding for party members
    – AoE force field that causes enemies hit by it to be stunned and enemies that try to walk thru paralyzed
    – Tactician provides a heal overtime after taking damage

  9. as a casual player it was really nice to get top player perspectives on the role as a whole. I've tried MCH a few times in savage, and yeah, it really just feels like I'm there for the 1% buff, I'm not doing anything important the whole time. sure, I can throw a dismantle as an extra mit, I guess, but I'd rather just be playing anything else.

    BRD feels nice, and I didn't know that the optimal song timings actually changed, as I was still used to changing songs on 5 seconds every time, but with this knowledge I think it'll be more fun now even in dungeons. My only main gripe with the job is very small as a comparison, but the fact that the 72 AoE followup is so weak visually compared to the lvl 25 makes the AoE rotation so much less impactful than it really could be. the lvl 25 AoE followup being a sick backflip into a rain of arrows, compared to 72's standing still and just shooting arrows into the sky, makes me wish they had just swapped them around.

    MCH having a very quick queen spawn in the opener feels SO nice, with the 2 Chainsaw GCDs, but even with it being the selfish ranged DPS, it definitely feels like there could be *more*, even with the gameplay + visual changes that I liked – the 2 Drill charges were really nice as I sometimes had a bad habit of letting drill drift, and the new upgrade for the Hypercharge GCD is so satisfying to use with the sound design really helping make it feel like it's powerful.
    seeing Flamethrower still be so pathetic both visually and in gameplay is really sad to see, I just don't use it much myself in dungeons because of that. My main wish is for it to just be more impactful in general, but gameplay-wise it could maybe generate 5 heat gauge per tick or something, just anything to make it more useful.

    DNC, yeah some of these changes were really really confusing. Tillana giving 50 gauge and 2.5s CD???? Finishing Move as a whole, getting rid of the step minigame??? I wish I could hear Stal's full DNC rant because I agree, overcapping because of Tillana and RNG makes me feel like I did something wrong. the job just feels kinda eh to play now compared to EW and even ShB.

  10. I think phys ranged should be raid buffers and should have loads of mits to deal with raid wides or something. Maybe take addle and feint away and load it on phys range responsibility. Something along those lines. Give them a job essentially

  11. as long time brd/dnc main, at least i finally feeling brd is back to be fun(only in raiding though) now, 2min is fun and less stuck in ap. kinda sad that i now hate how dnc feel right now and fully agree with stal, its all tilana false!

    but yeah, whole problem is still all on where will phys range goes anyway, no matter how well we play, we still cant match anyrole anyway, just being there for 1% role buff and when party need mitigation

  12. Omg I thought it was just me but big agree with Stal on that M3 point. Everything just happens so slow and starts to blend together over the course of such a long fight. I’ve caused a couple wipes due to mistaking dive for lariat or vice versa and it’s just because I fell asleep at the wheel lol

Something that I think none of the experts focused on (understandably) is that I think this role in particular has received very little in the way of new systems or mechanics that actively change how the job plays in a significant way in YEARS. Obviously their new additions change how their burst window looks, and changes to song balance can change how long you stay in each song on Bard, but there hasn't been an extra layer added to any of these jobs for ages. Summoner is obviously worse, where they get one new button to press during burst and that's it, and to a certain extent that same argument can be extended to a lot of other jobs this expansion as well. But from the outside looking in it seemed like most of the changes for the phsyranged role this expansion were…another follow-up attack to use in burst or something.

    Anecdotally, I've had trouble filling PF groups because of a missing physranged about as often as I've struggled to fill them because of a tank or a healer, maybe even more. But every time I consider trying the role I just get bored out of my mind because it feels like there aren't enough systems at play compared to other roles.

    Really hope 8.0 gives us big, meaningful NEW additions to all jobs, but especially phsyranged, on the level of how much was added to jobs going into Stormblood where tons of jobs got new systems or resources to manage.
