Guild Wars 2’s newest expansion, End of Dragons is out! But instead of getting stuck into the new story, I went back and played Guild Wars 2’s personal story from the beginning to see what GW2’s New Player Experience can learn from the MMO Giant, Final Fantasy 14!

Woo-hoo 700 subs. Almost to 1k man congratulations on the extreme growth!!!
Best video cuz It came out on my birthday
as a person who played gw2 from 2015, i can 100% agree with what ur saying, i hate how i NEED to be there when a new episode comes out OR i need to pay for it… i guess it's free if ur there but still, shame really
a freind of mine just stared gw2 and when i told him abour living world season 4 and how he needed to buy it and i didn't ( cuz i was there) that pissed him off and i understand why ;(
They just need the story quest out into that living world… I mean it's kinda of the selling point. And back living world w/o pay walls.
5:09 reference to me maybe?
Nice video @Brixel!
great vid with good points!
Not me, currently playing zero video games, watching because I want to support… And I miss hearing you talk about things I have no idea about. Keep up the good work
Absolutely agree with you here!! If ESO can constantly tweak its new player experience and FFXIV can dedicate time to fixing things like Praetorium then yeah, Arena Net can go back and fix Living World Season 1. Rebuild and retool it in a way that makes it possible for players to go through the story without demanding them to just "watch a recap" of the season instead!
I am going to say, that you say the payments model will be discussed in a future video. However they are inseparably linked to their developement decisions. Just like you said that the living world feels like they are punishing you for taking a break I could say that FFXIV is punishing me by charging me a monthly fee. Because you cant "just jump in and pick up the story where you left off" you have to pay a sub to be able to do that, just like in gw2 you have to purchase the episodes in order to be able to do the same. You cannot separate the payment model while discussing how their decisions of distributing content are different.
I do agree that the core experience and LS1 needs to be fixed.
I kinda agree wasnt for last years free all LW content would of never got it. I beat all of EOD so not much to do on my ranger main or rather these days Untamed. I am using all ascended marauder gear and 3 pieces of legendary. However now that we reached the end im running fractals daily but aside from im like now what?
The difference though is that Final Fantasy is subscription based so they're being paid as long as they have users but Guild Wars is pay to play. Anet has a simple model to continue playtime and business model to continue supporting Guild Wars 2. Final Fantasy works like WoW in that business model. So as long as there are users subed, they're being paid.
