  1. maybe just maybe, if those kind of raids are so hard that you need addons, maybe just tone them down a bit, just saying. And lets be honest i've been playing ffxiv for years and almost everyone is using addons even if they don't admit it. Maybe it's time to lower the difficulty and perhaps chill with the mechanics. If people find it hard to beat a boss then it's time for a few changes

  2. The mod categorization system of Deep Rock Galactic (Rock and Stone btw) attempts to account for the sort of distinction between functional vs cosmetic and client vs server mods that is talked about in this video. It works for DRG, but I think something close to it with a few changes might be able to work for other games as well.

  3. It still baffles me when I hear him say FF14 looks dated, then looks at wow and goes "That's fine". Not that I think its not a valid opinion to have (I don't see it being an issue generally outside a few specific details) but wow I can't see how you would consider it better, it looks a lot worst to me (to be fair like 14 its not to an extent that bothers me but still its pretty noticeable).

  4. Ff14 players are right. Wow players been cheating for years and its even more bizzarre that the comunity thinks that thats part of being a good player lmao. It is what it is…

all sense of discovery and learning by trial and error goes out the window.

And dont even waste yours and my time whit excuses. Yes wow devs have built encounters whit addons in mind because what alternative did they have? The no addons law for wow has shipped long time ago. In retrospective, its prob the biggest wow flaw. gamers always choose the path of less resistance

  5. I have never played a mmo where all that shit was required. It was expected that you Learn the fights, the call outs and the postions. and if you died you failed to learn or made a mistake and get told to try and not do it again. I was even in guilds that attempted wolrd or server firsts and not once did we ever use any addons. I was even one of the officers who were tagged as Trainers my job was to teach people how to do raids. That wow clip is crazy to me.

  6. This is what I've been telling people for the longest time, Japanese don't care who you are just the rules as long as you follow the rules anyone can live in japan and that same mentality is carried over into everything else. Japanese team or not they don't care …take that L who ever that Japanese team is.

  7. on the topic of "Final Fantasy is uniquely dated" while I do agree, I would rather have server improvements.

I think that's the biggest urgency. i want things to feel smooth, when i press a button too.

An other example to responsivity is how damage goes.

a demon hunter blade dance pops damage at every single hit
I press my 3rd combo ability as gunbreaker, i slice the monster 5 times and i get the damage only at the end of the spells. I think it would FEEL much better to just see damage pop at every hit. perhaps add a total number at the end to know how much you've dealt

  8. 18:02 that is exactly what they said several times already. not word for word but we legit got a lecture some time ago in one of the live letters where we had a whole section of them discussing this same topic and they said they can't just accept one mod while another mod is banned. A lot of people don't realize that yoshi p has actually talked about this in-depth which is why we're starting to see some add-ons being added into the game very slowly so as to make people less likely to use the helpful add-ons.

  9. Love Yoshi response as it boils down to this.

You bitch and moan for more difficult content and more and more challenges.

Then you use 3rd party addons to clear it as effortlessly and quickly as possible.

Why should we bother making hard content YOU WANT if you just intend to trivialize it by using out of game assistance.

    Mic drop.

He ain't wrong either. Fuck em. Id rather SE spent more time making skimpy clothes for my cat girl anyway.

As to why FF14 community is so opposed to Addons and 3rd Party Apps. Like half the player base plays on console and doesn't have access to those things. PC gaming is not big in Japan very console heavy. So since half the community doesn't even have the option to mod….it is seen as faux pas. WOW on the other hand is PC only, everyone has access to the addons, so it is seen as a faux pas if you don't have them. Apples and Oranges.

  10. People still don't understand in Japan third party is not well accepted, both by players and it is illegal by law too. SE or consoles have nothing to do with it. However in any case every multi-player game except WoW ban for any third party.

  11. I agree, WAs are low key cheating depending on the WA.
But going after all add-ons, calling them all cheating, when some are simple things like graphic tweaks, a better looking bag, better looking housing. Better HAIR considering their hair choices are shit.
But in world firsts? No. The shit they used is pure cheating and they known it. And it's people like them that ruin it for everyone.

I'm not including the zoom out add on though,

  12. WoW: Impossible without addons, complex with addons.
FF14: Complex without addons, trivialized with addons.

Screw people running assistance addons in FF14 raiding (ACT is completely fine, however). It's like toggling maphack in an RTS/MOBA or aimbot in a shooter.

  13. 'everything taken away from the worlds first clear team' ? Why not permanent bann the cheaters for using 3rd party hacks, expell their clan and detroy their purchased in-game properties. okay? stop being sissy, Japanesie

  14. when you see the comparison of wow and ffxiv with whats cheating and what isn't its quite crazy isn't it lol. wow raiding has changed so much to match mods, in a way its changed it for the worse. one thing i really enjoyed when i tried out ffxiv raiding was how much more enjoyable raiding was to learn fights properly and not be tied to just learning addons.

  15. No game should have outside tools and developers shouldnt build around having those tools. It becomes too easy and also crowds the screen. An ugly game that is easy is not fun. I remember playing ESO on PC and then on console. PC was a screen full of timers, bars, alerts. Console was me actually looking at the boss to catch visual cues that tell me their next attack. More skill required and more fun.

  16. I can only imagine how frustrating it is for the dev team. They made ultimates when the player said the content was too easy. To then have players use tools to cheat really defeats the purpose, especially after suffering the backlash that they did for Shadowbringers only getting TEA.

  17. FFXIV DOES have a DPS meter specifically designed to make sure you can meet DPS checks. It's called "Stone, Sky, Sea". Granted I don't think it covers Ultimates, and it doesn't take mechanics into account, but they're designed so that if you can beat them, you'll clear the fight easily (assuming correct execution)

  18. mods in ff are like smoking meth. do it in private and almost nobody bats an eye, do it in front of a police station and you get cuffs. not liking a rule is one thing, being surprised when you get fucked for breaking it publically is simply the highest degree of ignorance on the other hand.

  19. my personal doing in the past, cheat within reason, #1 rule : dont make it an issue for other players… . Do not make it an issue for other players plain and simple. #2 do it solo or only with "1,2" other close players. anything else will add variables that could lead to unexpected results.

  20. I'm just going to throw my opinions into this. when it's comes to WoW vs FFXIV mod usage as cheating or not, you have to realize that Blizz doesn't give a shit about mods, whereas SQ straight up has mods as against the ToS. Blizz takes mods into context and designs their content with that in mind. SQ does NOT. SQ designs its content with the actual, natural, hard-core players in mind. to use mods in FFXIV is CHEATING. period. these people cheated. they did NOT earn that clear at all and should be disqualified AND have their accounts permanently banned immediately. anyone who uses mods for content are nothing more skilless shitlords. that's all there is to it, and that is my two cents on all of this.

  21. IMO it will damage the game in a irreversible way if they officially allows 3rd party add-ons and mods.
If the add-ons give the users advantage in gameplay, that would make the normal content too easy, thus become a worse product to those players. If you balance the content with those add-ons in mind, then the players not using those tools would be at a disadvantage, and the games turns into who's got the better tools.
Even smaller things like UI enhancement shouldn't be encouraged. If there is a problem with the UI, the dev team should fix it in the game instead of off-loading the work to mod makers. It simply gives too much power away from the dev's control. When a kid wants a candy, you buy them a candy. You don't give them your credit card and trust them to only buy a candy.

  22. Its cheating in FF14 and cheating in WoW. I have no respect for any World 1st that uses addons. The 1st time I saw add ons in WoW I stooped watching players play high level fights.

  23. One of FF14's biggest advantages and weaknesses financially is the crossplay with Playstation. If you allowed mods, the console players (which very likely take up a HUGE percentage of the playerbase, especially in Japan) would be completely screwed by the gatekeepers regardless of the content itself.

  24. My main issue is that all of this continues to damage the relationshp between players and devs. FF14 has one of the healthier player-dev relationships compared to other MMOs and even other games. The devs officially say third party tools are bannable but they still trust the players to not be assholes.
But if incidents like this keep happening they'll actually just bring down the ban hammer on everyone regardless because stupid fucking cunts like this raiding group who hacked the game and used cheats.
