I fought FFXIV, as long as I could, but all my fighting game friends left for FFXIV, the only one that didn't was my gf, but she's a scrub anyway.
All I can say about FFXIV, is "Don't fight the Weeb. Embrace the Weeb O_O"

Besiege music… everywhere…. in Wings of the Godess. Sadly WotG was one of the worst Expansions to exist. It's storylines were amazing and had excellent cutscene moments. However the gameplay additions were VERY lacking. My Endgame Linkshell fully disbanded over this expansion. This came after the AMAZING Treasure of Aht Urhgan expansion. We literally had nothing to do but hunt a worm NM that traveled the area every day and tried to suck you in. But due to server congestion regularly bugged out…..
Saving grace: the leveling experience of FF XIV is god awful and should deter majority of new players. Also, Waking Sands PTSD, the 100 quests prison at level 50, the on foot exploration of flying zones, etc… Everything is made for you to quit.
And let's not talk about pre 50 gameplay: best case scenario, you have a 1, 2, 3 rotation with movement; worst case, you spam the same single key over and over and over for hours.
It's not a retirement home but a funerarium.
The game is far too casual based to even keep non fighting game players interested.
